Thanks for the update Carly ! Keep yourself as healthy as possible, eat good food, not junk/fastfood ! You talked about running, walking , swimming is also good , look into vitamins/ minerals ! GOD TELLS US , HE WILL GIVE US THE DESIRES OF OUR HART , IF WE FALLOW HIM AN SEEK HIS FACE !!! I look forward to seeing you back racing and taking the checkers!!! Go show the world how it's done !!! GOD BLESS !!!
There are never any guarantees for any of us. Even ones who never had an injury. Live your life. Go for what you want most. Your future is bright young lady. Just as bright now as it ever was. Go for it!!
Good to see this for you. On the rear end oil. For years we drained the oil 1st night in the shop & poured it in a 5 gallon plastic bucket that has a water spigot 4 inches from the bottom hung up on a wall. By Saturday morning or if we fired the car we would drain the oil into an old fire extinguisher (kept in trailer for race track) & refill the rear-end. All the metal would settle to the bottom of the bucket. This was a synthetic rearend oil for at least 20 years I was with the team. I started with them in 1996 & they had been doing this for years before that. We never lost a Quick Change rearend & this is in a Sprintcar. We raced about 20-30 times a year around northern California.
Carly just be cautious and do not over do it. I got a blown knee that for over 20 years has been a weak point in my life. Doctor said that I would never fully heal or walk right again. But Iit took me time to overcome that and went on to be a EMT till my back started going out and I had to leave my life behind. But the point is that live your life and don't let the injury be the end. Stay safe and God bless you
Hey all! Love how you all are showing all about Sprint cars, garage life and updates. I grew up in Walnut Creek Calif., and my grandpa Johnny took me to sprint car races when I was 10. Stillin love with the sport and glad to see Carly doing great. Keep the garage vids going. Good luck in '23 !!!!!
Great to hear your doing well Carly. For what it's worth, I've had three back surgeries in my life, the last one a double fusion. I still raced after the first two, retired from racing before the last one, but I still played soccer for about 30 years after the double fusion. Finally had to retire from that at 64 because I had one knee finally give up the ghost on me 🤪, but my back is still going strong 😀. You have the right attitude, adjust as needed, but live your life to it fullest and keep doing what you love. And if that's racing, go for it! I think when you give in and give up, that's when things start to take a turn for the worst, so don't do it! Looking forward to some new videos. 😀
I'm sure you'll talk to the right folks about any torso wrap/brace you could use to help keep critical area's protected. If needed, use it and don't think about it while you're using your head to go fast(er). That will be the real test. All the best to you Carly! We're all rooting for you!!
That's awesome news. The extra safety measures you and your family are adding to help you be safer is great. Best of luck to you and your entire family.
I also had a back injury in my neck, a couple of crushed vertebra and cracks, I'll always have pain but it's not going to stop me from living the way I always have, you, I just have to be as careful as possible, so good luck with your racing and have fun!! 🏁🇺🇸ML33MI
Take it easy and get behind the wheel for a couple races/driving sessions and see how it goes. If you decide you don’t feel comfortable anymore, at least you can walk away on YOUR own terms.
Well, the time has come. Go racing Carly, just take all the precautions you can and make sure the car is as safe as possible. That's all you can do. I'm sure your Dad and Tanner will make sure everything is right for you. Have fun and go win some races.
Thanks for the instructions on how you take out and clean the injectors. I gotta say they didn't look like I thought they would when compared to diesel engine or other gas engine injectors that I have seen. Watching you guys put the 360 in your car made me think of Tanner's video of when they put the 410 in his car. He mentioned how sometimes it can be a bit of a pain then it went right in lol. Apparently the difficulty of putting the engine in was saved for your car this time lol but hey such is life it doesn't always go smooth. I get what your doctor said about not being able to technically clear you too but like you said through diet you can give your body what it needs to keep building good strong bones. You can also build up your back and core muscles to support and protect your back. Of course the extra padding or maybe a change in the stiffness of the padding will also help. Then as you get further along away from the accident and this initial healing you just keep making adjustments to your seat to keep you comfortable and safe. Thanks for this video and the update on your health. May y'all have a good one have fun take care
Great to hear you're doing better and mending up. Back injuries suck, but they happen quite a lot in motorsport. From what you said your doctor told you I'd recommend a second opinion, I know it's a different racing world to the one you move in, but reach out to some of the Formula drivers in Europe. I'd recommend Sophia Flörsch for example. After the shunt she had in Macau she was able to get right up to elite level again, and I'm sure you will as well!
I had similar fractures, wedge or compression fractures as well as fractures of the facet joints and what they told me where the largest duck herniations they had seen, hence the need for surgery which included fusions with instrumentation, (screws and rods). They told me the same thing, I drove again, I broke it again, more surgery etc. I recently had my foot fused and the doctor that did that had and has me continuing to take vitamin D3 and B12 because it helps the fusions heal, I don’t drink or smoke which I was told by every doctor I’ve seen interfere with healing. I have to have my other foot done but we’re waiting till fall for that. Bottom line is your young and healthy, take good care of your body and live your life the way you want. I wouldn’t continue to the point I did. Take care and I’m glad your doing well.
i wish you so much luck you are so brave keep your dream alive but be careful if your back starts hurting stop for a bit. but so happy you are getting back in the seat go get girl.
So glad to hear all is going well. Look forward to watching you kick some butt and bring home the chequered flag. I'm in Australia and watch every video you and Tanner put out. Keep up the good work both of you and safe racing. :}
I enjoy your channel and was happy for you when you were leading the race where you got hurt. Both Rich Vogler and David Steele died by trying to squeeze between a car they were passing and the wall, hoping the car wouldn't move up. If you haven't already, please consider adopting a policy of second place with no broken bones is better than relying on the unpredictable movement of a car you're passing for victory.
You know where ya at Girl n where ya want to be so go "Do it" getting the car ready is part of it but now getting your body ready so as not to play on ya mind when ya in the seat is 110% real (✅ all the boxes). Stay well be happy n one step at the time to chequered flag .🤜🤛 🏁
The best to you goin forward. Something to think about. There is a part to install when mounting Seat that absorbs on impact reducing chance of injury to back. Think Kevin Swindell was promoting it. Look fwd to seeing you out on the track this season. Prayers...
I love the video updates from you and Tanner and I’m glad to see you getting your car ready. Have you and Tanner looked at the new Head and Neck Restraint system from Meru-Safety called Ascent Brace? I just saw a video about it yesterday. It has a shock absorber system that is supposed to help prevent concussions in an accident along with protecting your neck from fractures. I’m just a race fan and not involved in racing but I love to learn about new technology and safety improvements. I think a lot of us are looking forward to seeing you race again and have been inspired by your hard work and resilience in facing your injuries.
Can’t wait to see you back on the track Carly I really respect you in fact I respect you more than Deegan or any one of the other ladies that race you do everything you are not afraid to get grease under your fingernails I like your knowledge level of the cars and your accident you just went through a lot of people would’ve quit but not you I love your grit and determination good luck for the season ahead hopefully one day I can meet you and your brother at the races go luck young lady ❤
Good luck this season young lady. Impressive video never saw injectors for a sprint car. If you are ever in Ohio come run your car at Atomic Speedway it’s a bad fast 3/8 high banked dirt of course. You would love that track.
Good to see you working and getting ready , who was that stranger helping you ? Oh that was Tanner , lol........I had a shaker and heater i put my injectors in , it was hard to believe the dirt that was in them . i had the same thing for the radiator also ...
With the recent back injury compression of the back disk with Alex Bowman in the High Limit Sprint Car racing series it was brought up that Kasey Khane Racing sprint cars uses a special mounting system in his cars for the seats to give a little in those back crushing wrecks...they hinted he was one of the few people using it and Brad Sweet, promoter of the series was going to look into it to make his racing series more safe..they can institute rules like that to make racing safer for all...
Great video Carly you put it all in perfect perspective on the health of your back which brought some other thought to mind, your thoughts are all very cool in that you have such great thoughts about where and what you want in your life and that you get everything you need to know in positives and negatives in what you do whit fun and happiness as a main objective and your knowledge now about your sport and everything about what you drive I can imagine you can handle most if not all issues when working in the pits....... you've got a great future ahead of you..... Go Team Holmes!!!!!!
Carly yiu Rock Young Lady. Cant wait to see stompnthe gas Again .1 tought Gal. Love the Family Values n Comment to Give the Tanner team . Soo glad to see healthy 🎉
You’ll be fine just take the time to mount that new seat the correct way. There has been a lot of drivers got hurt bad by cutting corners on seat mounting with that being said I’m not saying your seat was mounted incorrectly lol. Just saying to take your time with it. Go get some W’s. 🤘🏻🤟🏻
After breaking my back and spending a year in bed I know where you are coming from but if you want to live life to its fullest you have to go get it I ride horses and team rope and man it took a lot to (as they say) get back in the saddle again so good luck in your endeavors and go for it
I hope you get some wins this year & have a safe year of racing with your brother. I hope you both come to merced speedway when the sprint cars are racing there.

I personally dont think running is a good thing for back injuries. Your back doesnt need jarring.
Not your average kid, good for you and keep up the hard work.
There are never any guarantees for any of us. Even ones who never had an injury. Live your life. Go for what you want most. Your future is bright young lady. Just as bright now as it ever was. Go for it!!
Yay! It’s been a long journey! So… congratulations!🎉🎉 on your recovery!🎉🎉
It took you forever to say you’re going out there to win. That sounds great and will be rooting for you.
So glad you are gonna be able to get back in the Sprint car good luck to y'all I'll be watching every single video 🙂

Glad to see you lubricated the o-rings on the nozzles, some don't, bad move.
Good update on your back.. Please above all be safe and have fun. Car is coming together nicely. ❤️. Good luck be safe have fun. GOD. BLESS 🙌

Very nice video Carly, i liked learning more about the injection system, looking forward to seeing you racing.

I hope you get some wins this year & have a safe year of racing with your brother. I hope you both come to merced speedway when the sprint cars are racing there.
Racing is inherently dangerous whether before or after injury. While you can't ignore the risks, prepare as best as you can and go for those wins!
Go live your life. We were put here to be as happy as we allow ourselves to be. You have been around racing long enough to know the joys and the sorrows of our sport. You are fortunate in that you don't have kids or elderly parents who depend on your support. So, what are your standing around doing? Strap in and let it rip!
Glad you’re doing better sweetie ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great to hear that you're getting back into the car! Doesn't Butler Built make a seat liner that helps absorb some of the shock?
That’s awesome. Can you get a custom poured seat?
Carly I know but that's a scary scary fault but you got to be happy you got to do what you want to do to be happy I broke my neck racing and I still have issues so I can trace no more but you go get it girl
I like watching this channel and Tanners on how you do stuff. Have done it for years. The Hilborn 327C is a pain in the Ass to get the injectors out, with 2 7/16 injection.
Hey Carly, as I always say to Tanner, RIP THE LIP! 🏁🏆🇺🇸
Carly, get a CASM safety system. They are based out of Visalia, CA. do some research, they save racers from getting paralyzed. Tanner should definitely run one too
Go get em Carly ..
Family Racin . W Strong commitment. 💪 22 C . Cant wait to see that Family Show down Holmes vs Holmes will bring a tear . N i know No cry n in Racin Lol
Invest in the product called crash pad for the bottom of your seat.. I do believe they're manufactured in Pennsylvania.
NICE JOB
What size engine is that?
Was it your seat that was in the car during the crash or Tanner old seat .seat fit is important in a bad crash
You're doing exactly what you should be. You can't live your life as WHAT IF. Race hard and continue to get better. I still think it won't be long before you beat Tanner!!!!!
Carly are you running both a 360 and a 410 sprint car this year
No only tanner is running 410s carly doesn't even have 10 360 races under her belt and she has to get used to a full power 360 instead of just a limited to be able to even think about getting a 410
Or you can just not race at cottage Grove or ask them to put a wall around turn one so that that can never happen again because I guarantee you you would not have been injured if you didnt fall off that 20 foot drop
Parker power!
I like the way you think
Carly I have injured my back 4 times 2 light and 2 major injuries the last injury the doc told me i would never be able to lift any thing over 10 pounds he was retiring soon so he showed me what i could do for exercise swim and row boat well my back started getting better i can now lift 300 pounds but before injury i could lift 650 pounds i also eat bananas which seems to help when it goes out so anyway i hope it all goes well for you
W vid 🔥🔥🔥
Just becareful wirh your back and evertime befor u take off in the race car say a prayer for god to protect u and keep u safe. Get in the habit of that
Carly try this mount your seat and then try to get in it as would before
I will say the hardest part of stabbing a sprint car engine is getting the yoke on the driveline ,, great work
Will then fact that you now have this permanent injury going to result in higher medical insurance costs for your racing?
👍
Is that a 360ci
Not to sound like I’m critiquing your video but at the beginning of your video you were cleaning the nozzles not injectors.
We will all just say an extra prayer for you,ask God to cover you with his feathers and protect you.
Sup
Oh how I would love to have a conversation with you about your back condition...we met at Attica RaceWay, Tanners 18th birthday, I brought a bag of strawberries, you gave me a ride back to my vehicle for my phone ..
