The ending was perfect. It brings back old things like the table scene in the beginning where MA tried to speak to Louis and the carriage scene when it started. It’s kind of poetic

After that, as how the chateau was stormed, it’s the guillotine for King Louis XVI & Marie Antoinette. Not to mention a Turkish angora kitten was named after her; contaminated by the dark side. (When I mean by the dark side, it’s yen-sid. And I’m sure you know what it means spelled backwards).

@@kingayy9267Marie Antoinette had 6 Turkish Angoras as pets during her time as queen. Disney made the movie ‘Aristocats’ about pampered aristocratic cats being kicked out of their chateau and left to the streets. The breed of the aristocratic felines was that of the Turkish Angora and one of them was named Marie as an homage. Not sure what OP is referring to as the ‘dark-side’.

This is very true! People forget that the Monarchs don’t have jobs. Their money comes from taxing the people. And when you are the King & Queen of country that is starving and you’re still taxing the common people to support your lavish lifestyle. Rebellion is the only solution.

They people hated her the MOST! It was her head they wanted more than his. She was seen (though by hearsay) as a pompous, arrogant, rich snob who rubbed her lavishes in the face of her people as they starved. Plus she was actually an Austrian, technically an enemy. When approached by one of her subordinates advising her that the people were starving and had no bread left to eat, the rumored response given by her (their queen no less) was "Let them eat cake" (Marie-Antoinette)

Too much risk in the children having a claim to the throne resulting in a restoration of the French monarchy years down the line. It was barbaric but it’s what they felt like they had to do to protect their new republic.

@@IDHAGAVENOIDEA yeah any attempt to depict the horrors after they were arrested would have completely disrupted the charms of the rest of the film. It wasn't a conventional biopic.
