    I just hate how when he first met her he adored her so much, and then wants her dead so badly, and for what? Because she couldn't bare him a son? Ugh. So frustrating.

      She was executed for "imagining the king's death" of which she was undoubtedly guilty. It was the Tudor version of thoughtcrime and entailed just speaking about the king being dead, which she had done. The adultery and incest charges were just a show to make her seem even more evil than what she really was.

      Because he loved Anne for her unapproachable. When he got what he wanted, Henry quickly tired of her. He needed an obedient, faithful, modest, patient wife. Such as Catherine of Aragon or Jane Seymour. Henry loved Catherine for many years, and if she had given him a son, he would never divorced. The King did not tolerate a wayward wife. He was attracted to the audacity of Anne only while he was burning with passion for her. But when the passion passed, Anne began to irritate him.

      Actually king Henry has suffered a brain injury that may have got him mad and cruel, which led him to execute Anne. It may be true that Anne imaginated the king's death, but if Henry didn't had that brain injury, I believe the chances were very high that they let this pass and the history of the couple would be another one.

    Natalie Dormer's acting is just amazing. Anne Boleyn was brave and strong-minded on what she wants in her life. I do believe that Natalie Dormer represents her so well up to the little evil's smile she probably had.

      Also Anne was not told, (as here), of her "crime" or the men involved. She had no idea that her brother was implicated for a start. She was in theTower for a few days before it became known to her.Why tv and film people feel the need to distort history when it is usually far more interesting than what they invent I have no idea. But from this little glimpse, the actress playing Anne is exactly how I would imagine her! Strong, feisty, ambitious, sometimes went too far, which is why Henry looked for meeker meat. Enter Jane. Who was even more duplicitous than Anne! "Oh she was a sweetheart, , manipulated by her family" No, she was a better actress! What did she do that was any different to Anne? She was a lady in waiting who caught the eye of a her mistress´s errant husband and played it for all it was worth, helped by her scheming family. If she hadn´t died when she did, did she really think,Henry would not have got bored with the "Little Miss Mouse" act? She had a lucky escape. Her tendency to the old religious order, wouldnt have helped. The factions would have been in there, and she would have son been following in Annes footeteps quicker than her bed! Or maybe not.She did give Henry the longed for son after all, puny as he was. Milch cow. If she had averted her eyes to the mistresses, as Catherine did, she might have made it.

    What should be remembered is that back in the day women,whether of noble birth or not had zero rights.If Anne had a 'fault' it was that she was educated,independent minded & feisty as hell.She also believed her femininity alone could get her whatever she wanted.Simply she stepped way over the lines of acceptable behaviour for a woman of her time.But the one thing she had no control over was the gender of her child.So when she miscarried a son then her fate was sealed.Ironic,then,that her daughter,Elizabeth,became one of England's most admired and respected monarchs.

    Anne Boleyn was no saint, I agree. She was ambitious and thirsted for power. She wasn't the greatest person either. But she was smart, and brave, and fought for what she believed in and what she wanted. She was loyal to those she loved, but took pleasure in seeing the downfall of those she despised and were in her way. People tend to forget that these characters really did exist and are not fictional. She wasn't good, nor bad. She was human, just like the rest of us, and she strongly loved and hurt, just as she envied and hated. She made many mistakes, and she paid them with her life. I admire her, though, and respect her. She truly was a complex character and her character, as imperfect as it may be, is an inspiration for women, especially since she lived in an era where females were considered property and were irrelevant, spineless creatures with the utmost purpose of producing male heirs and fulfilling men's pleasure. At the end of it all, she was still a victim. A victim of the corruption and ruthlessness the English monarchy was. What makes me extremely giddy, though, is that her daughter, Elizabeth I, was one, if not the best queen England has ever had. It's a shame her mother, nor her father, were alive to see it. I childishly hope they saw all that happened, from wherever they are, and that Anne beams with pride, while Henry burns with regret.

    Great video :) I still watch The Tudors to this day. Anne Boleyn was always my favourite character in the series as well as my favourite wife. Anne had her flaws and made mistakes, but people, (particularly in those days), failed to see her numerous good qualities. She was incredibly intelligent and passionate about what she believed in. She was loyal to those close to her and very religious, (despite stereotypes having us believe that Catherine of Aragon was the religious one and Anne the non-religious one. They were BOTH very religious). Despite the bad girl stereotype passed down over the years, she was kind hearted to a lot of people and gave more money to charity than Catherine of Aragon did. She was heavily involved in educational, religious and charitable causes and truly believed the Reformation would bring about a new beginning. I'm not saying she was a saint by all means. She was too outspoken, (forgiven more though if she lived now), and had a sharp tongue. She was also unkind to Mary when she was made to wait on Elizabeth and said some pretty nasty things about Catherine. But overall, she was a strong, intelligent, passionate and fiery woman who showed, (particularly through her daughter), that women were not the weak, sinful sex as portrayed in Tudor Catholicism, but just as strong and complex as men. (I'm not having a go at Catholics here, (that's why I put Tudor Catholicism), I'm going by the way Catherine and Mary were brought up into believing that women were easily led by Satan and had to be harshly controlled by the father and then the husband).
    I believe all of Henry's wives had good and bad points and none deserved their fate. Anne's fate however, is particularly emotional given that she was innocent of the charges and went to her death with a lot of dignity. Natalie Dormer's portrayal of her was incredible.

      Made mistakes? She was a ruthless bitch. That's why when she was getting killed it was difficult for the commoners to feel sorry for her. Well not back from the dead but there are lots of cases of spinal cord injuries where people get paralyzed after all. They don't feel a thing. I personally had an accident where one of my fingers was almost cut off and I didn't feel a thing, didn't even notice it at first, because the nerves were cut. So it's only logical that if your head is cut off, your spinal cord cut and your brain disconnected from your body, there wouldn't be pain. Besides, in the moment of the stroke, the brain would produce so much adrenaline that you wouldn't really have the time to feel pain anyway. I think the by far worst part of it is the fear beforehand.

      Travalon 80????? Elizabeth was enough of a schemer in that she delegated authority to her "underlings" whom (please, acting on her direct orders) gave the authorization for the slaughter of over 4,000 Catholics alone (over half of them in Ireland, and many of them women and children during the pacification of that island in the 1590s). This woman was a butcher par excellence, but she was smart enough to commission and patronize all the writers (Shakespeare included) who adored and lionized her. She was so conniving to the point that the painters who did her portraits were told to depict her allegorically and in younger fashion even when she was old and decrepit. Come on!

      Catherine never made the speech about wishing she was dying as Culpepper's wife, that is a later poetic invention. Nor did she wet herself at the execution (though you couldn't have blamed her if she did!), that was made up for 'The Tudors' on TV. Catherine was visibly weak, but witnesses reported her as "making a goodly end", ie she showed some courage at the end.

    This is an amazing video! It captures every heartbreaking moment of her ending, and it really magnifies her bravery. So Queen Anne wasn't a "saint," so what? The only bad thing she did was being a home wrecker. She is an inspiring woman, who was outspoken, mysterious, and feisty. She represents unbreakable boldness. Henry was used to being superior to everyone, and then she comes along. Henry soon saw her as a threat to him.

      I totally agree with you. Anne dared like no woman did at that time, and she was a passionate woman. She stood up to Henry and dared to question him. he needed that, but poor Anne paid the price.
      Most people think she was a horrible woman but I strongly disagree. ^^ And Natalie Dormer captures her perfectly.

      Anne was ready to die whereas Catherine was not. Anne had accepted her fate and just wanted it all over with. It's hardly surprising that the teenage Catherine who was so full of life was not ready to leave it.

    Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard both may have made some errors in their marriages to the king, but they certainly did not deserve the kind of death which Henry gave them. It's hard to determine how many others of that time wrongfully lost their lives because of that evil tyrant. From what I've heard his Daughter Mary aka "Bloody Mary" was just as bad.

    Henry committed adultery and murder. Anne only crime was, that
    she couldn't give him a son. She was executed on lies, that Henry
    believed. Jane Seymour gave him a son. She died, and Henry
    married 3 more times. Edward died at the age of 15. His reign
    was short. Anne's child, Elizabeth had a long reign.

It was easy to get rid of her because, unlike Catherine of Aragon, she was just a noble woman so she jad no one to back her up.

    When the rumors (started by Anne's enemies) started circulating court and conveniently reached Henry, he was more impatient than before to get his son. He had likely already been looking into getting an annulment after her latest miscarriage, but was wary of how to do it, not really knowing how without solid grounds. (With Catherine the excuse was that she was his brother's widow). He didn't want something that would take a long time like it did with Catherine of Aragon (not that it could since Anne didn't have the political allies Catherine did). Whether Anne would have retired to a nunnery before the trial and everything started is unknown, but I think it would have been likely since she knows better than anyone the lengths Henry would go to to get what he wants. But then the rumors were told to him (likely again by people who hated Anne) and he was humiliated. It's not even that he believed they were real. Anne was always getting slut shamed and called a whore. But the political climate was getting even rockier. France had withdrawn support of their marriage and he didn't have enough allies.
    Even with Catherine dead, most of Europe still hated his marriage to Anne. So he decided he needed a fresh start. By giving permission for a trial/investigation, he was essentially telling his council to kill her; that was her death sentence and she knew it.
    There was a moment right before she died, where she thought she was going to be spared because Henry said he would show mercy if she agreed to an annulment. Anne did agree and Kingston accounted that she thought she would go to a nunnery. Unfortunately, Henry took back the deal. He got his annulment, but he still couldn't let the women he cast as a wanton whore who seduced him through witchcraft live. So he killed her anyway.

      He just loved Jane for giving him a son. But he gave so much up for Anne. Henry waited years to be with her even wrote her loveletters. The reason that destroyed the relationship was his fear of not countinunig the Tudor dynasty with an male heir. Some could say this is also the reason he left Catherine. Not entirely Catherine helped him to become a man but later in the relationship wanted to give him further advice. Henry wanted to rule on his own. Anne was much more talented in convincing Henry because she mostly let him belive that is was his idea. I think Catherine was his first love ( He was hardly a Teenager when he first met her) and Anne was the one he loved most.
      Sorry for mistakes english is not my first language

    • @el5406
      @el5406 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Julia he wanted a son. Catherine had many miscarriages and he thought she was too old to give him a son. If she would have given him a healthy son Henry would've stayed with her. It was worth giving a lot of stuff just to marry Anne because she was young enough to give him a son, so that's why it was worth it. The reason why it took so long to divorce Catherine was because she had blue blood and Anne was just a noble woman which was why it was so easy to get rid of her because she didn't have anyone to back her up. Cromwell just made up those lies about Anne just to please him. People that love other people don't execute them and Henry was always an obsessive and murderous person. I find it disturbing that many people think that was the love of his life when in the end she got executed and Henry married Jane not even a month after.

    • @el5406
      @el5406 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Julia i think the one that he most loved was Catherine Howard because he cried when they told him she had something bad in her past. I think he even tried to defend her from some of the accusations that were being said against her. For Anne, he was liking that his lawyer was making all that stuff about Anne. If he did have love for her, it all disappeared in the end. Because in the end, he thought about Jane. You need to remember that this was the 1500s and that is what love meant to him.

    As far as henry viii was concerned anne boleyn had to die. If he married jane seymour and had children with her while anne boleyn was still alive than any children born during the third marriage would not be seen as legitimate. He wanted his future son to be born legitimate by the laws of both canterbury and that of Rome. He wanted no question about that son's legitimacy anywhere. Not even in Rome or Catholic Spain. But it is sad what he had to do in order to make that a reality just the same. All that innocent blood spilled just so that the future King Edward VI could be born.
