Thanks! Beautiful restoration of a classic military utility knife. More polished than when it was new. Military knives were often unadorned and did not have high levels of fit and finish. The makers would be proud of what you did. 🎸🔪
In my world it's a 10, however, if it were in a competition, head-to-head with another knife that looked identical, it may come down to mirror polishing. I saw the microscopic lines that would be removed by more buffing. I probably only noticed this because I've polished some blades, and made some steel arrow heads that I hand sanded and buffed, and I know how much time and effort it takes to get micro scratches out. Congratulations, I've loved all of your videos!!!
Not taking away from anything you did.It was a beautiful restore. But that knife was made so well in the first place.Even in its condition , you were able to bring it back to like new! A testament to the knife maker. Again what a beautiful job. I especially like the snap before you did the Restore. Had the same kind of snap at the end. Amazing.♻️👌
Restoration is not an easy task & not everyone's cup of tea. It needs patience, concentration & will, to bring back those old & rusty things back to life, which is time consuming, tiring & lots of efforts. The way this old pocket knife brought back to it's original avatar is commendable. 10/10 from me. Love from INDIA>
Very good refurbishing work. Could have polished the spacer parts inside the knife to give them a little more protection from rusting again. Polished finishes are harder to rust than pitted finish. But very nice in all... Thumbs Up!
One to ten??? How about 110??!! Your skills and patience consistently produce absolutely superior results. I still think you have a time machine hidden behind your bench grinder!!! Well done sir!!! The Old Army Scout!!
10 out of 10 and I have the same knife...just not in such great condition as your finished article but better than the "before" image. If you want to do mine and send it bak......if only. You have a true talent.
I have one of these and it’s obviously been well used but still in good condition. It’s always been a bugger to open though, regardless of my attempts to loosen it off.
It's a similar pattern to the British army knife but it lacks the arrow head of the MOD, makers mark and year stamp of the standard issue. Many were made but those issued to the army had these stamps on them. I own and have restored two but this one is by far more superior in finish...i would advise that it could do with a spot of oil to the joints as it sounded a bit grindy. Very good restoration, very shiny, very impressive! 10/10
SAME DESIGN, BUT, LACKS THE BROAD ARROW CROWSFOOT STAMP, IT'S LIKELY A COMMERCIAL MARINERS KNIFE, SAME USED BY THE COMMERCIAL FISHING INDUSTRY, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
@rodulfotardo6328 i see what youre saying but it lacks the marlin spike that would make it a mariners knife but very similar. The mariners knife also has a shackle key, or many of them did. That said, a lot of the army knives had a marlin spike too :) So many of these were made that not all made it into service use for the MOD, so as you said, they made it into the commercial and public markets. The blades on these tools are robust and thick...I would expect to see these surpass the 100 year mark and still be of use in everyday applications. I carry my '41 quite often and it never let's me down...the previous owner didn't care for it much and it was a pleasure to breathe some restored life back into the old gal. This video is a much better restoration than what I did to mine though.
Nice resto, I did long ago a restore with the navy version from this knife, the one with marl owl. I rate your resto scale 9 out of 10 ! nice vids ;-))
Nice job! And also very satisfying viewing 👌 I am curious about the vinegar soaking, if you are going to use a wire wheel, sand and polish etc, wouldn't that remove all the surface rust anyway? Seems like an extra unnecessary step. Is it just to get the crevices clean?
That’s a 10 in my books. Excellent work.
The knife has deserved restoration of that quality. The master gas deserved respect for the efforts applied. 10 out of 10.
10/10 and probably better than when it was first made. Great video - thanks.

Amazing Craftsmanship and Restoration 👍🏻👍🏽👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
10/10! I dig that you kept all the original parts! Well the rivets but they would have been nearly impossible to salvage. Beautiful finished product!
Thanks! Beautiful restoration of a classic military utility knife. More polished than when it was new. Military knives were often unadorned and did not have high levels of fit and finish. The makers would be proud of what you did. 🎸🔪

Exellent work,10.
10/10 It looks like an early Swiss officer's knife.
Good work (7)
I’ll give you a 10 pal 👍 nice work
Yes, it is a British WWII Army issue knife.
It's a similar pattern to the British army knife but it lacks the arrow head of the MOD, makers mark and year stamp of the standard issue. Many were made but those issued to the army had these stamps on them.

@rodulfotardo6328 because they all look the same, I guess :D

I actually got my wife to watch this one with me! She likes it too!
