    All cars should have physical controls for climate as well as entertainment systems. Touch screens will cause the driver to remove his/her eyes from the road and lead to more dangerous accidents. It’s time for car designers to wake up!

      I wonder if it’s designers fault or if management forces them to do so. Not adding extra buttons (switches, material itself, mould for the buttons, backlight of the button) saves them some money when they produce like 50.000 of that model every year. So they may be forced to do so. I aspire to be a car designer one day, if I get there I’ll make sure to keep some physical buttons for you guys!

    • @MrWolseley1660
      @MrWolseley1660 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Do BMW use focus groups before they revise their models.? Touchscreens are a VERY DANGEROUS distracting development. Design is a matter of taste but safety and function should be prioritised over style and cost reductions. It seems that BMW cannot any longer claim to be the ultimate driving machine. Very disappointing.

    Apart from removing the physical climate controls (I wish they'd listen to their customers), it's a 👍🏼 from me.

    • @N1ckZ
      @N1ckZ ปีที่แล้ว

      They listen to customers which is why they removed them. It looks far better now and only people who are old or completely useless when it comes to technology don't know how to use them.

    • @erasmus9627
      @erasmus9627 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@N1ckZ it’s not about the ‘look’, it’s about the functionality of the controls. There are numerous well researched analyses of the dangers of touchscreens in cars, and the superiority of physical controls - especially for basic functions like climate controls and volume. It is only a matter of time before safety regulators crack down on the use of touchscreens. They are just a fad - nothing more. Of course they are useful for certain controls but not for ones that are calibrated while the car is moving. This issue is not a matter of age - it applies to everyone both young and old.

    • @N1ckZ
      @N1ckZ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@erasmus9627 it really doesn't. What's the difference between pressing a physical button and pressing a virtual button? You have to look at what you are about to press in both circumstances especially if your car has lots of physical buttons next to each other. For me it makes absolutely zero difference and it doesn't make me drive dangerously. If having to look for a split second to press a button makes you crash then you shouldn't have a driving license.

    • @erasmus9627
      @erasmus9627 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@N1ckZ you can turn a physical knob to adjust airconditioning without taking your eyes off the road. You can’t do this with a touchscreen. It’s basic ergonomics.

    • @N1ckZ
      @N1ckZ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@erasmus9627 you have to look at the temperature and also how many times do you do that every day? Anyways I am glad they removed the physical controls and I am even more glad that the next 5 Series that will come out soon, won't have buttons either to annoy climate control enthusiasts such as yourself.

    As a previous owner of the pre face lift g20 3 series I think thr exterior changes are nice but the interior is a step back. No heating controls, no gear lever and that dual curved screen slapped on just doesn't look as good (I'm sure the functionality and OS is better though).

    (In recent years, a manual was available on most specs, though the silly automatic was the default option on the website, until suddenly the manuals as said disappeared in most specs recently - similarly the second gen Peugeot 508 is automatic only outside of the base diesel here! 😯😂)

    As we're getting used to - BMW is ugly as ever. Wait, what? BMW used to make some of the most beautiful cars - right from early 1960ies to mid-2000s! How can their beauty now be ugly? What is that huge underlip on this facelifted (sorry, LCI-ed) one? What is the monstrosity that is the XM? What are the stupid rectangular pods on all four corners of the facelifted 2-series? Why cannot be get used to marketing BS like "disruptive revolutionary mascular sporty manly ingenious" - when it's all obviously just bad, chaotic design?

    Would I spend £40K on this car -good and pretty as it is- instead of an EV? I don't think so.
    BMW should follow Ford's example in dumping the Fiesta.
    Saying all that, if you give me one, I'll have it.

    Ghastly & unsafe is what the interior has become without easy to use buttons & stupid touchscreens that take your eyes off the road which is extremely dangerous on UK’s busy roads…BMW hardly thinking of safety & just keeping up with the jones….on having flatscreen TV style gadgets..

    Brits seem to be obsessed with climate physical buttons. It's as if they have some sort of touch screen disability, or some medical condition that makes them constantly feeling either cold or warm.
    The global customers, on the other hand, set their preferred temperature and ventilation settings and enjoy the marvel of automatic climate controls which make sure they are always the same.

      Lol British weather changes very rapidly in a matter of weeks. From blistering cold to scorching heat. You always have to alter the climate control.

    • @HoratiuMihalache
      @HoratiuMihalache ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jinyuichi6460 No, you don't. You set the desired temperature and the system adjust automatically so that you always have that regardless of outside temperature. Magic!

      Overly harsh. Check out the 2022, 230i rear wheel drive coupe. It’s a thrilling ride with great gas mileage. Minimally optioned for less than $40k. Nice!
