Close all the military bases you (I believe you are American) have setup globally and focus on the country called USA, infrastructure, education, healthcare etc
@20 years in Afghanistan certainly demonstrates a lack of political partisanship, The money pouring into the military and the arms manufacturers kept politicians of our uni-party comfortable with the gifts from lobbyist.
Yes, especially when he asked about how the intel agencies can damage and constrain the duly elected POTUS and subvert the will of the people who obviously want the trajectory of the country to go back 4 years…
I agree. While the Christian Nationalist movement is real, it's highly unlikely to come to fruition. Focusing on it is a distraction from more pressing issues. Alas, it's a pet issue of Hedges. Also, Wilkerson is just a mouthpiece for the deep state. His job is to distract from the increasing fascism of the military/industrial complex.
@@trylliumt5441of course you've never heard of it when you're literally standing in the middle of it. Just like how the fish that swim in the sea don't see the ocean.
Any attempt to integrate what’s referred to as Christian nationalism into our domestic policies, or to establish an official state religion immediately becomes problematic because of the division between Catholicism and Protestantism. If it were to happen, there would most certainly be some kind of conflict between the two for superiority. Beyond that, there are myriad Protestant denominations. Which one would be chosen as the official religion? Does anyone know; or has anyone even asked these questions? Considering the number of inflated egos among the Evangelical ‘Righteous Right’, I’d be surprised if they were able to come together enough to agree on anything. They can’t even agree on the details surrounding the ‘sacrament’ of what some call the Lord’s Supper. The only thing they DO agree on is that there IS such a thing; Catholics and Protestants alike. BUT.. They’ve all turned it into a meaningless ceremony and a tradition without effect, other than to convince themselves that every seventh day, they’re being good little Christians while the rest of the week, they do as they please. (And that’s only if they keep the sacrament every week. Some don’t even keep it that often!)
Christian Nationalists are groups of people who use religion in order to gain power, just like Zionists used the Jewish religion to gain power. And it that they are both dangerous. otherwise you are right - the various Christian religions could never come up with a common theme - to this day I still read comments about Catholics and Protestants hating each other.
I stopped attending services at Christan evangelical services many years ago. As a divorced white woman, the social moral pecking order, anti-abortion support, and the judgement of others who don’t entirely agree with them, was VERY uncomfortable, especially when it bled into voting freedoms. Politics and religion don’t mix. On the other hand, from a very young age, I was very open to studying different cultures, and as I got older, spiritual teachings and practices.. Every culture gains wisdom from worshiping “God” in their own traditions, which helps create a healthy, balanced life. Freedom to worships as one chooses, is an important component in family and community life. I see grave trouble ahead, what Christian Nationalism excludes, is the living God, as Spirit, which radiates through every heart and fanned by love. Isn’t it possible for all cultures to put their faith in the same God that created us all? It Religious intolerance bleeds like poison, affecting our lives on so many levels. Some of us are very aware of this; many of the masses are not. We will now have a very hard lesson to learn…How to love and cooperate with each other as neighbors. Current examples: Palestinians digging people out of the rubble with bare hands, medical staff refusing to leave the hospital and their patients. In recent storms in the SE, fellow Americans came in droves, with supplies and help, when our govʻt failed us. I am terrified of the future, but also know this experience of hardship is necessary in order for us to evolve, in our consciousness, and survive, after the fall. They will never be able to destroy us all!

Yep. USD coudl definition lose the world reserve currency status because extremely high federal debt to gdp ratio and lawlessness. Not to mention, a lot of states are almost insolvent. Many red states may look good in terms of low debt and operating within budget but they are hightly dependl on fed to subsize them.
@9m: Wilkerson"...I'm no Economist but I know a lot of economists and they're telling me the bond market right now is what we should be looking... "...our aggregate debt .... CBO looked out about 10 to 12 years and they think they're being optimistic it's going to be two trillion. You (and Chris) are talking to the wrong economists Larry. Arrange a discussion with an MMT'er - like Randall Wray, Stefanie Kelton or Warren Mosler. They can tell you how the present monetary system actually functions. Most popular economists are schooled in economic orthodoxy - their way of interpreting US budgets is stuck in a the era of fixed USD xchng rate - prior to the abandonment of Bretton Woods in 1971. On the US nation's 'balance sheet' US debt is the private sectors asset. It is the grossly unfair distribution of that 'asset' between rich and poor that is the US's major problem. Like it or not, all the money in US priv. bank accounts is US 'debt'. While not suggesting such level of interest payment is desirable, US Gov. interest payments are completely sustainable - the term 'sustainability' is inapplicable. Full US monetary sovereignty means fiscal outlays can always be met - it is the availability of goods to buy that is the real limit (inflation). At any rate, such comparative payments quoted in dollar terms is very misleading. As a percentage of national GDP, for ten yrs (1985 to 1995) US int. payments were ~3% of GDP - today (2024) US int. payment is 3.1% GDP - CBO projections to 2035 average ~ 3.5%. Not that scary after all. Both you & Chris are very intelligent people - why can't you learn how your nations monetary system ACTUALLY, fundamentally functions?
My guess is they don’t think it will actually stay this way, mmt, once the world isn’t using the dollar primarily for trade. Once the US has more of a regular currency in the world, thanks to BRICS and other ways countries are trying to trade without having to buy the dollars to do so. Just my thought.
@@lookforward2life Whether or not the USD is used to settle external trade debts is irrelevant to MMT analysis.
