Some actors get oscars for playing, essentially, themselves. The fact you can't recognize Robert from Gowron shows what a special craftsman he his. Maybe the character has a limited range (debatable), but he embodied it.
Straight Up, some you can still see them when the makeup is gone but with Robert, it's nearly impossible.....except maybe in the video where he explains the Gowron eyes :D
Yes, I didn’t realize that until, when I was a teen, my dad pointed that he didn’t care for (a very famous actor) because the actor always played himself playing other people.
oh man.. how I wish we travel back in time style wise and make more Star Trek the way the used to do it.. way back in the 80s and 90s.. those were the days.. Qapla!
Star Trek II and VI and TNG and DS9 were the apex of all that was great. ToS cast films outside 2 and 6 had decent titles with 3 and 4 (and I kind of liked 5) It takes me watching clips of the newer series to make me be like "hell no I'm not watching this". I don't know why they can't get this stuff right, anymore. It looks like it's a combination of failure to get actors combined with scripts, so that you like the characters and stories. Even the special effects suck. Phaser/torpedo effects in II and VI, and the damage they cause, are still better than what we get today. Political intrigue in DS9 is lots more interesting than what we get today. TnG was running on prime time, once a week. DS9 was in some similar situation. DS9 climaxed with the craziest space battles Star Trek had ever seen, with Klingons and Federation and Romulans fighting as allies. I don't know what to say, except this: The Star Trek universe appeared to go wrong as soon as it quit chronologically progressing us through the stories of one "generation" of characters, followed by the next. "Prequels" and "alternate timelines" are for single episodes or maybe multi-part episodes. Now, we finally get reacquainted with the past, and the way they do it is with "Picard"? What the hell?
Remember that time gowron straight up decided he won a battle despite getting his ass kicked, just to avoid being executed for perceived failure. Basically “fuck you, you didn’t win”
You left us wanting more Gowron, And THIS, we do not FORGIVE…..or forgettttt
"Glory to YOU, Robert O'Reilly.......and your _Houuuusssse_ "

A certified 👁👁 moment in The Klingon Empire.
Good one.....

Well when doc brown was a klingon his voice was instantly recognizable😂but of course..but like the red shirts of TOS he met his demise
So the fastest way to StovoKor is a Trek movie, good to know.
Robert O'Reilly (Gowron) is exactly a week younger than J.G. Hertzler (Martok). O'Reilly was born 3/25/1950, and Hertzler was born 3/18/1950.
It's funny how the Klingon makeup and costume can turn literally ANY person into looking like a badass.

It's easy to make it the way they used to. Just get rid of Kurtzman and his ilk.
It really was so much better. Picard and Discovery kind of sucked.
@@R2Rocketeer "kind of" ?! no man, those shows suck, pure and simple . without "kind of".

Death to kurtzman trek
Great actor great caricature well done.🇨🇦
Gowron was pure awesome.

OMG! He does blink. 🥺
I never knew how to spell Gowron until I started reading posts. This is one of my favorite characters on the newer Trek incarnations.
Gowron definitely one of my favorites😊
Such a sweet bloke
He clearly had the time of his life playing Gowron.
But the Sisters had the final victory over the Enterprise D
Yes, but VERY short lived victory.
@@VitoVeccia Victory is all that matters to a Klingon, and to die to attain victory is the greatest honor!
@@magicstix0r Today IS a good day to die!
They only destroyed the ship, but most of the crew survived. I wouldn’t call that much of a victory.
Their Klingon Bird of Prey blew up before the Enterprise D's drive section did. I'd give the win to the Enterprise's crew.
Stares in Gowron
Q'apal!
That's acting... Not the usual yuppie crap!!
Alright
