Gotham Spammed with Negative Reviews Because Aston Martin Doesn't Live Up to the James Bond Fantasy

- Aston Martin is the one brand that constantly under delivers on the user experience but still is in demand because everyone builds it up to something it's not in their head. Other than the surprise of a $2000 cost of a mirror motor, this car has also taken a toll on my Google reviews lately.

People hating on Gotham Dream Cars because the perfectly maintaned supercar they rented isnt what they thought it would be. 😂 Crazy how delusional people are.
Look at the clientele that rent these. You really think they have any clue? 😂
@@akshonclipwhat clientele buys this type of car?
@@ohreally6232 That is my point. They rent them. Not buy them.
Clearly the brakes squeak because rob didn't put enough grease on the rotors.
Rob used Marinara sauce instead of grease.
Needs bacon grease 🥓
$2000 for a mirror actuator? Nah
It was at that moment I was happy with a. Infiniti q50
No one ends up feeling like James Bond, but customers that rented the R8 all reported feeling like Iron Man! 😅
Its almost like exotics focusing on looks and features turns out to horrible for everyone who isn't very wealthy.
Not Lotus....
Taking a car to the dealer under warranty 6+ times in a year to fix minor issues gets old really fast.
Especially when the car is suppose to be out making money
Bought my viper 2 and a half years ago. Its been down for 2 of those years.
Funny that you should mention the negative reviews from people who have never even rented off you. Google should be able to remove those. There is a small pizza shop near where I live, they have a negative (1 star) review that goes something like "Never had their pizza, but stopped at the car wash across the street and was not happy there (at the car wash)" Like...wtf?
people are insane. my favorites are the ones that seemingly go about posting their entire family on amazon reviews because they bought a toothbrush

When the DB9 came out, it looked like a work of art. I was in high school, and I wanted one so bad. Now that I'm older, a lightly used 360 or a NSX might be my best option for fun, good looks, and not losing my tail when I sell it
Yea I feel like 360s are starting to get better looking every year that goes by
i graduated 2003 always knew aston was whack wish i got nsx or supra back in the day. what u got now?
A 2015 Ford Fusion has the same front end look at 1/10th the cost. 😂
Probably a million reason why I’m wrong but I prefer the F430
@@allenwixted1992And I’m over here thinking a gated 355 has both of them beat.
Google the part number on the mirror actuator, it’s probably made by a different car manufacturer and put in an Aston box and the price increased 2000%
There's ZERO chance he didn't end up buying the Benz motor for $100. But that doesn't make good tv does it?
@@itsonlymusic1 doesn't change the point. $2000 for an actuator that goes out is something to consider if you're dropping money on one of these lol
Everytime you post a video I like it and make sure I watch the whole thing. I noticed your views have went down over the years but I've been watching since your Ford gt video (iykyk) and been a fan ever since. Please don't ever stop making content you teach me something new all the time
Today Mr spaghetti tell us how his meatballs are a guest favorite but doesn’t meet his culinary skills.
I rented from you in the past. I live in South Florida and you delivered to me in south Palm Beach. Car arrived exactly when you stated. The car was absolutely awesome. I enjoyed every second I had it. My only issue was there was a nail in 1 tire but, it wasn’t a huge deal breaker for me as it could have happened to anyone. So it wasn’t a negative issue for me and didn’t even leave a negative review cause of it. Over all I’d 100% would rent again from you meatball. I’m a small business owner so I totally understand where you’re coming from.
How much was shipping to get the car to you?
@@BaxterretxaB there was no charge as at the time he had a Dania Beach location.
@@sflspotter6638 ah I figured it was when he had a Florida location. If it was from his northern location I was about to say that’s some serious loyalty renting and having it shipped that far 😂
i own this generation vantage we all hate the brake squeal we swapped to porterfield brake pads and they dont sqeak
ap1990 r4s
and ap1165 r4s
are the part numbers
i would get some new brake wear sensors too since its a rental you might be able to save the old ones but i was only able to save 1 of 4 just because i never removed a wear sensor before
I got my 2021 last month and it came with new brakes and rotors and debating changing pads to these bc the squeal ugh
@@BigtimeBigA new rotors shouldn't be needed seems like they didn't know how to fix the issue with these pads the sqeak will go away u can even do it with the Caliper still attached very easy job
Can’t you cross reference the parts with shares the same parts?
A car with carbon ceramic brakes squeaks? Or the turbo v8 drives like one? The other fit and finish issues are inexcusable. Sounds like another case of "don't meet your heroes."
Went and left you a five star review for the rental I did a few years ago! 🙏
The new Vantage supposed to be really good.
From a personal experience of renting from Gotham (Rob) has been outstanding. From Lamborghini, Ferrari, and driving their Bentley has been incredible. Fantastic company to work with.
There's next to no-way that actuator doesn't cross reference to something pedestrian right? I figure Rob probably looked, being a clever guy, but I'd be genuinely shocked if that's a bespoke part to that car and not shared with some E class Benz or Ford (maybe a decade ago).
I bought that same Vantage last month in Scorpus Red and I absolutely love it and thats going from a Bentley Flying Spur luxury boat to small sport car. The attention it gets in public is crazy. I do agree the brake squeal is really annoying but a quick search showed different pads I can use to get rid of it, lots of threads on Reddit about it.
Imagine you dont even have Toyota Corolla and i`m here watching Rob giving negetive reviews about Aston Martin💔💔
Left a positive review and reported the others as spam . Been following your business since I was in junior high. That was 20 years ago
You have always been open about your business and life. You are the best.
People should have to have a receipt to make a review on a business.
What colour is that red dbs volante at 1:57? Is that a black or brown interior?
Meatball forgot the olive oil on the rotors mama mia 😂
Multiple Aston owner here. These are truly some of the most reliable exotic cars you can own. Yes, when something goes wrong -- often something small -- it can be very expensive because they're bespoke parts. But that's the cost of entry, and you take that on when you make the decision to purchase one. This is true of ANY exotic car.
I've never been left stranded by an Aston. Closest I ever came was an alternator that started to go wonky in a Vantage and caused the car to throw random codes. Turns out it's a Ford part and I got the replacement for under $200. Of course the labor was over $2k to install because it's inaccessible without dismantling part of the dry sump system, but again, this is all part of the deal. I have friends with Ferraris who've had to make multiple return trips to the dealer for significant issues.
Yes, I've had small things fail. Trunk latch, fuel door, turn signal stalk, minor stuff like that. It's a car. Things break. Overall my Astons have been easier to live with than my S-Class.
Yes, the brakes squeak. Some days worse than others, I think it has to do with humidity sometimes. But again, I don't really care. Ever drive a Ferrari F40? Those brakes squeak too. And yes, you can usually find aftermarket brake components. The brakes are Brembo. You can get rotors direct from Brembo, and there are a few options for pads. Because Aston is so limited in production volume there isn't a big aftermarket but there are a few options for brake pads if you really look. And yes, from what I understand they all squeak.
The depreciation issue is real -- these cars depreciate in ways Ferrari and Porsche don't -- which is to say, they follow an historically normal depreciation curve for a prestige car -- as did every other brand until very recently. The idea that used Ferraris are being sold at MSRP after 25k miles is a wild anomaly that nobody should count on lasting forever. And most certainly shouldn't bet on if they're thinking about getting into a car like that.
Buying on the secondary market is the way to go though, unless you really have money to burn and don't care. Aston has a great certified pre-owned warranty program.
i dont know, he maintains and has maintained a fleet of luxury cars since like the 2000s, he probably knows what exotics are reliable
How often do they get driven? How many miles have you done in each? He has a rental fleet that gets used often.
@@somethingsock6707 Comparing rental cars to the private ownership experience really isn’t going to tell you much.
@@Dr.TJ_Eckleburg you didn't seriously just try and teach Rob how to suck eggs did you....?
I think Rob knows what he's talking about/doing.
@@benwhittle7204 I mean he’s just wrong about not being able to get aftermarket brake components. But regardless owning a rental fleet is not the same as private ownership.
Today Rob discovered basement dwellers using their neighbors Wi-Fi who will never be able to rent a scooter
As a past owner I concur with Rob. Beautiful, aural perfection, great handling, BUT... build quality poor. Reliability - very poor. Parts cost - ridiculous and a complete rip off - particularly for a parts bin manufacturer.
More video's Rob!
Hey Rob, is the Gotham Dream Cars website working? Or correct? It only seems to show info and fleet info from years and years ago. None of your current fleet is on it. How does one go about seeing what cars you have and booking info? Thanks
Welcome back. I've been missing my weekly dose of meatball..
It is very obvious from his many videos that Rob is very smart. It takes brains in this competitive world to run a long time successful business. So why would he jeopardize his business by renting out broken cars? He wouldn’t because of integrity and knowing better.
Help the guy out lets give him 1k 5 stars reviews.
That engine sound made me forget about every single problem. Knowing how they are unbelievable sounding machine
What’s the current website to rent a car?
2019 Mercedes GTS brakes
High quality brake pads squeak. You need the cheapest softest crap $15. pads you can find if you want them quiet.
Or just some squeak plates on you calipers.
First, I love you Mr. spaghetti
Well done 😂😂😂
I rented a Porsche Cayenne recently, and while the car is a very capable beast it was not the experience I was going for.. Panamera next lol
Rob , Im watching this vid 3 days into the releas . Im sure sorry to hear of all the noncustomer negative reviews and how that artifically lowers youe demografic numbers . I am not an exotic car owner but I have been watching your channel for a few years and I am confident you are an individual of integrity in the exotic car rental arena , for what thats worth . There are lots of people out there that will take every opportunity to belittle another when hidding behind youtube coments so just keep doing the excellent job you have been doing for 20 years . Take care sir
Nice Road America vest. I am close to that track. Great place to watch a race.
Ps $500 for Aston glass seems like a not bad price. I was over £700 for the mirror glass on a 2014 Lexus IS
oh great.... nice reliable toyota they said..... my 5 series was 20 bucks.....
@@thepro08 did your 5 have the blind spot monitoring in it?
A lot of sports/GT cars have brakes that squeak. This is mostly due to the higher friction metallic compound in the pads. Typically those (like many other performance cars) need to have their brakes bedded. I have the same issue on my LC500 (which isn't a full blown performance car)....which has also been a common complaint among LC owners....
Question for the chat. How is the early models of the Aston Rapide? Always kinda wanted one.
Not sure I follow your logic Rob.. James Bond doesn't drive the intro model Aston, he drives the flagship V12 and everyone knows that looks completely different.
I've had many astons, as a brand they all under deliver, which is why they don't maintain value well.
JB drove a car called the DB10 in Spectre. The DB10 became the Vantage (same model Rob is renting). So the Vantage is based on a James Bond car.
It's been common knowledge for like 2yrs that Porterfield make pads that don't squeak. Any 5min search online could find that out. Again, that doesn't make good TV.
New Vantage is HUGE improvement
Seeing a black Aston is unusual, I typically see a grey one
I cant find the video hes talking about. Did he delete it?
Mr. Spaghetti finds out the Aston is all sauce and no noodles.
oh my god I remember the Vanquish headaches. As we would say in the Olde Countrye, Aston Martins are all mouth, no trousers.
Are Aston designing their own mirror motors? Really? It looks very similar to the Volvo S90 one that's $44 on ebay right now. Worth a punt I'd have thought!
What about Maserati ? Curious what someone who knows what they're talking about from experience but also understands what would be a short coming for your average person.
thing sounds insane lol ill always love the idea of the aston. never driven one unfortunately.
@robspaghetti ... Sell me the car.
Rob! Permatex Silicone Extreme Brake Parts Lubricant silences that nasty vibration performance rotors squeak with. If that really is an issue this might be a viable solution.
The new vantage and db12 are definitely proper super cars now
Ok everyone, stop talking negatively about the meatballs sauce.
$2K for a glob of plastic. What a rip. I'll hang on to my '23 Chevy LT1 manual. Inexpensive and reliable. Like driving a go-kart.
I love the imperfections of a hand made Aston
Aston :) but I also have owned 8 Porsches and love their machine made great QC and reliability! A car for everyone
You and Tony from behind the glass should do a full roast video on Aston Martin😂
Change the brake pads to aftermarket ones Rob, some Yellow Stuff or something else and see if it helps
Spent £86k on a one owner 2017 McLaren 570gt with 6800miles & original tyres on it…i doubt I’ll see much depreciation..& nothing has gone wrong in 5 months 👍🤣
Rob, what do you recommend as opposed to the Vantage in this price range? I've actually been really wanting one of these for all of the reasons you mentioned. I also kind of like the fact that it has an AMG motor.
Its at 4.3 stars now
On google you can dispute the reviews if they are not genuine/ fake
It could be worse it could be a Maserati I’ve never seen anything lose value as fast as those do
We got your back!
Bimmers are more bond like… those bond cars were the best
I heard once that Europeans (Brits) say Americans don't care if their brakes work as long as they are quiet where Europeans say they don't care if the brakes are quiet as long as they work.
Rob breaking down that he has some sauces that are not home made but store bought because some people like Ragu so he uses it
