Glad Scott is still a free man after his daring tunnel walk in previous video and can continue to drink coffees to get up to cruising altitude. That ape at 5:50 probably said "Yeah, that's Scott from Planes, Trains, Everything". Really wonderful video - great views and shots.

As the old saying goes "Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun". Enjoyed your video Scott, reminded me of my visit back in 2010. Sad to say, we cheated and used the cable car and took a taxi back down.

Great videos! As a kid, I lived in Gibraltar from 80-83. In fact, at 1:45 in the video, if you turned right after the moped and red & white poles and went 50 yards up the hill, that's where we lived for a short time before we got a flat down at the RAF base, North Front, although I believe it's now called Devil's Camp.
The flat we lived in at North Front is still there... about 200 yards from the centre line of the runway. Great memories of living there, tremendous summers. It's changed a lot though.

I won't pretend it was easy, because it wasn't. That's probably why the apes kept their distance - I was sweaty and not smelling too sweet.

Visited Gib about 7 or 8 years ago on cruise stop off.
Went to the top of the rock looking down towards Sandy Bay.
Said to the taxi driver that took us 'I stayed there about 45 years ago, I think it was called something like New World', he said 'Both Worlds, still called the same' even now some 55 years later.
    Must pop back again soon.

When I visited the rock whilst serving in the navy we all got a mini bus up there. We had been on the drink the night before and remember looking down the steep sides of the rock as we hurtled up. I was green that day. Word of warning never take any sort of food or packaging up to the rock, it will be gone in seconds.

We took a minibus tour which held 6 people and was a fraction of the price our cruise ship was charging and we were taken in the caves and right up to where the apes were just being fed which was funny to watch them fighting over the food. They were so busy eating we could go right up to them. The minibus could go all the way around unlike the coach tours which only took them so far and then they had to walk.
Thoroughly recommend the mini bus trip.

I come from Renfrew in the U.K,where we have had grey skies nearly everyday, courtesy of geo engineering, chemtrails,so getting any sunlight was a luxury to me,we all need vitamin D,good for our health,I drank plenty of water and cocktails,so relaxing, loved seeing the barbary apes so cute, but can be dangerous if approached another excellent video

I was there in early July and took the cable car up and down, although I still did a lot of walking while I was up there. I foolishly walked a fair chunk of the way down then climbed about 5 lots of steps to get back up to the cable car. Seems that I got lucky because when I was there (way up at about 10:30am and can't remember when I headed back down) I didn't have to wait more than 5-10 minutes. I was there for work so didn't have a great deal of time and there's still a lot of stuff I didn't see up there - thanks for the video convincing me that I need to make a return trip sometime.

It's a lomg time since I was wandering around the Rock, (circa 1970) on a day-leave from my R.N. ship. There was no cable-car then, and no tunnels (well there were, but not open for touring!) St Michael's cave was used as a concert hall. There was an underground reservoir, too, somewhere.
Being young, fit, and maybe foolish, I walked all the way up to the top via the switchback narrow roads, looked down on the water cachment (I think still in use), etc, photographed a cloud coming up the hill to meet me, stood on a concrete (observation or gun?) platform on the far North edge that had a large jagged hole in the middle (bomb-hole?) and no edge railings, , looking down on the airport, then walked back down the steps that used to run top to bottom - they were in a very poor condition, often with no side-walls or railings, steps broken or missing, and semi-suicidal! There were several tiny cave openings (vent shafts?) that were gated over and padlocked shut, around the top.
Partway down were a cluster of (ex-army?) concrete buildings, with the painted names still semi-visible on them, partly obscured by Graffiti - I think it was called 'Hell-fire corner'.
Gib town is a lot bigger now, and has very little semblance of what was - as you said in the previous vlog, a lot of the land is reclaimed, and demonstrated when walking up towards the gate, along those old narrow residential streets.
If you recall one of the later James Bond films, where he was parachuted onto the Rock - I saw bits of the roads I walked up and down!

I have to agree that there's "something missing" in Gilbralter. To me it looks like the unloved parts of Greenock, only with a lick of yellow or peach or off-white paint to make it look Spanish. That I've really enjoyed watching Scott guide me through a place I find unattractive is testimony to his appeal - he's brilliant, and he has a lovely accent!

I spent a long time in Gibraltar in the early 80s. It was much smaller than and the runway was a bit of an experience, because that was a lot shorter. pick the time of day, are you doing your Mediterranean steps? Make sure it’s in the shade. It’s a beautiful walk. Yes, challenging but lovely views of the med. The time I was there, you couldn’t walk all the way round the rock because the military bases were a lot bigger. You have the RAF near the airport, the Navy docks, very much bigger and the Army base, which near Europa point
