JUMBO JET HOTEL - JUMBO STAY STOCKHOLM ARLANDA AIRPORT

- I'm old enough to remember when these big birds flew in the sky. I was fortunate enough to travel around the world in them. Now most have been scrapped or turned into cargo planes, but not this one. This former Singapore Airlines / Pan Am jumbo is a hotel/hostel, and I stay in one of the engines for an unforgetable overnight visit at Arlanda Airport, Stockholm. #stockholm #arlanda #jumbostay
Filmed January 2024 | Stocjholm, Sweden.

Staying the night in a jumbo jet, and having to go outside in the middle of the night to find a loo? No thanks, Scott, not at my age! You're a braver man than I am! Thanks for taking us along to share your experience though! Amazing.
Feel's like camping day's when you have to go to the toilet block 😂
Bacon buttie
A very unusual stay Scott and you gave it a really honest assessment. BTW, not serving decent coffee is sacrilege - the irony that a Jumbo couldn't get you up to cruising altitude!
I've grown to love the cheeky cruising altitude coffee moments!
Brilliant comment :D
Thats brilliant. I may have to steal that one for future use sometime.
Well done Scott for sleeping in the engine! But it looked horrible actually - if it had been been me, I'd have been running across the road to the Radisson!
We were over in the UK September/ October from NZ. In the end, Wetherspoons, became our eating place of choice. Reasonable prices and staff were friendly! One thing I’d like to say is, we were there for about five weeks and didn’t find one obnoxious person. I think that says something!
There may be some snobbishness about Greggs and Wetherspoons but I don't care. They are great.
Outside and through the snow in the night for the bathroom. You, sir, are a hearty soul. Fun video.
Loved it. Glad you stayed in the 747 Jet so I do not need to! Thanks.
The best review I’ve seen on this hotel mate. And cheers for the bonus trip home! I fancy trying the cockpit room but the engine would be a step too far for me 😂
Leroy sounded like a cool guy. You are right a table a hook would be an easy modification to the engine cabin.
That Jumbo engine compartment looked a dreadfully-claustrophobic place to stay!
Give me a hotel room with an en-suite any night!
Brave man, that Jumbo hotel was novel but hard work
Excellent! Always wanted to stay there. 2500 SEK or £187 ish is pretty good for the cockpit when it’s available (had a quick look and there is some availability). Not sure I could have stayed in the engine room to be honest - looked a little claustrophobic even on a GoPro. When you got on the easyJet at the end there - I saw you give the engine a glance and was thinking “yep, he’s tired and now thinks of those things as a place to sleep” 😅
Oh my, I think y ou found the strangest "hotel" I've ever seen! Thank you for tomenting yourself for us!
Scott I hope you get to go over 50k subscribers with this video.
Brilliant Scott. Thanks for taking us along. Definitely a bucket list check-off.
49.9k subscibers!!!!! Lets get to 50k+
Surely I'm not the only one to see the delightful wonder of Scott(y) in the engine room aboard a flying vessel?
A bucket list destination for me. Maybe in the summer though!
It would look fantastic in Pan Am colours
But it would have to be the livery that would have been used on the plane when built and if operated by PanAm then.
I'm biased, but a Singapore Airlines Livery would have broken me. I might have flown on that plane in the 80's. BTW- there is no way that I'm staying at the top. I looked it up and couldn't find the engine room
This was interesting. The accommodations seem a bit contrived and the lack of any sort of bathroom would deter anyone but the young. But what was cute were the tables and chairs on the wing so maybe it’s more doable in the summer.
The photo of Pan Am brought back nice memories.
Well they do advertise it as a hostel, not a hotel, so ...
But I assume even hostels have indoor plumbing, especially in that climate 🤷🏻♀️
Really, no Star Trek joke in the comments yet? I mean: Scott(y) staying in the engine room! Great video!
For about three years I've been watching your vids and I enjoy them but I really think this one was too long. Fifteen minutes is perfect.
The Jumbo has been on my bucket list to stay at for years and have now seen a few videos from a few TH-camrs who have stayed there. The only time I visited Stockholm I was interrailing, but maybe one day
I enjoy your style as you show the unglamorous parts of travel like the departure areas, cafes, waiting... The mundane bits... Also the cold!! I'm in Singapore so it's nice chilly video.
A very unique accommodation. I'd love to sleep in the cockpit!
My first ever flight was a school trip on a JAL jumbo jet from London Heathrow to Paris Orly. Short flight of 50 minutes. In those days, the flight to Tokyo made a stop at either Paris or Rome. The same on the way back. Great experience. We kids sneaked onto the top deck before the stewardess told us to leave. We also got a jumbo back to LHR a few days later.Btw I would have paid a little more to get a cabin on board the plane.
Looks cool. I want to go to Sweden at some point and I almost feel tempted to stay there.
Unfortunately this seems pretty far from the city. I also really wouldn't like to go out in the dark and cold for a shower or toilet during winter :o
What a brill experience barring the toilet issue
Lovely video Scott.
That was awesome, who ever thought there would be a Jumbo available to sleep in as a hotel, I would love to try that, but I would be sleeping in the cockpit of the aircraft for sure 👍✈️
This is such an amazing place to stay.
Definitely it would be better getting a room inside the aircraft
Love the longer videos. Keep them coming.
Scandinavia is still on my "to do" list, but I have never been there. But probably it will happen one time. Not by plane though: I always travel by train, ferry and local public transport. And when that is not possible I won't go.... This room in an engine compartment? What a creative idea to use a plane that way.
Brill video Scott. Can't wait for next week's video. 😊
Liked your video keep them going Dougie from Paisley 👍👍👍
What a great vlog. And staying in an engine housing as well! Such a unique experience. Thanks for posting. Safe travels. Cheers
Hi Scott. Absolutely loved this video. Thank you and have a good week.
Your vlogs just keep getting better and better, there's a few aviation vlogger out there that we used to follow and they seem to be loosing the plot, always love your subtitles, they crack us up.
Sweden is firmly on our bucket list already but now we have a new place to add to the specifics! Man, watching TH-cam can be expensive! We watched Walk With Me Tim visit here a while back.
Next week's video sounds intriguing....!
At 9:33 notice the Satellite dish which is literally pointing down at the equator given how far north Stockholm is.
Hello Scott, I was just watching your video where you stepped into the Baltic Sea (I'm slowly but surely catching up with your older videos) and noticed that you reached the 50,000 subscriber mark. Congratulation and now lets get another 50k
Staying in an engine... what a (jet)blast !
Ha!
Great video! I love the bonus videos. Would love more of them. Thanks!
Fantastic.....
Brilliant ❤
Great video Scott.Thx
Class 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Loved this video! Great job 👏👏👏👏
Can't wait for next week xx
What a fun trip
Impressive .
Finally finished the book thoroughly enjoyed it ❤❤❤
Loving your videos Scott
Defo one of my favourite TH-camrs !
Thanks Scott that was an excellent video I’m originally from Glasgow and you flying into Glasgow airport in the middle of winter brought back lots of memories 👍
Always a proper full strength brew
This was an awesome vlog Scott 🙌🏻
Very interesting video, 😊
Fascinating way to spend a night. I'd want more room but I think I could have just got away with it once 😂 Cheers Scott, very entertaining and chucklesome as ever mate.
Great video
What a unique experience
Very interesting one, loved it,
The man is a saint
Nice video
Great Video Scott. The jumbo stay is on my bucket list to stay at hopefully in the next year or so. Hope you are well. Looking forward to the next video
Hi Scott, Last year I'd pre-booked eight months in advance the cockpit at Jumb Stay. Unfortunately, a week before my departure, BA decided to cancel my flight, and that was the end of my plans! Stockhom is one of my favourite places. The locals are truly some of the friendliest people you could ever hope to meet.
Great but cold video, anxtious to the next one, I enjoyed it as always, like your light ironic way of vlogging.
Hi Scott, wow that was really different, a hotel room in a 747 jet engine cowling couldn’t get much more unique. Thanks for that and all the tips 😀
No loo? Dealbreaker. Don't fancy getting dressed in the middle of the night, then grabbing a torch to treck through the freezing snow and ice and get inside to find some other guest has already nabbed it for a nice 30min long shower.... Staying inside may be worth the extra cash. Brilliant video ❤😊
well done, brave man, nice video . more please . from mick in the uk.
Thanks
A Big thumbs for a direct and honest review of JumboStay. (been there a couple of times. It has a somewhat of a novelty. at least first)Looking forward to see more from your TH-cam channel. Lastly. Love that Northern kind of sense of humour. Scotts are some of the friendliest and honest people i have come across when i travelled the British isles). Your friendly Swede working at Arlanda airport.
I couldn't cope with no bathroom in those temperatures, well done for doing that Scott. A recommendation for you (or your followers), try Langholmen Hostel/Hotel which is based in an old prison. On my visit many years ago the hostel rooms were in the prison museum and the bathroom at the end of the corridor. The lights were on a timer and if you weren't quick enough you would bump into one of the wax work prisoners or prison guards - very spooky. There were 2 metal bunks in a solitary confinement cell. Sad to report the rooms have been upgraded to ensuite these days for around £50 per night. Love the idea of the plane, but next time I am in Stockholm, I think I will return to the prison.
I stayed there almost 2 years ago in the cockpit suit for 3 nights & it was an experience to remember! Yeah ignore the Jumbo Stay website when it comes to info of how to get there as it is outdated, which I learned while I was there in April 2022.
Not often I see a video from a place I've been to! No, not the plane, just Centralstation in Stockholm. I was able to say "I've been through those doors and along that corridor and bought a bun in that Pressbyran shop"!
This is an experience I would love to have. ❄❄❄❄🌨❄❄❄🛬 ❄
A great video the hotel was certainly different. I've had long stopovers at Stansted and I started to go in to Bishops Stortford for a few hours it passed the time well.
Nice tip to Steve Marsh about the WiFi 😂
I think I know what that bucket for.....😮
I hired a car from Arlanda last May and passed this plane, what an amazing place to stay!
You do have a mild glasgowean scottish dialect which is easy to understand for a swede. I have a friend from Glasgow that has a really hard glasgowean scottish dialect, and he speaks very fast. I need to ask him several times to repeat what he says. Its almost like Rab. C. Nesbitt. Fortunately that series on DVD has english subtitles.
Don’t think repainting the aircraft into Pan Am colors would work since it’s in Sweden. Maybe Scandinavian airlines colors as they did have the 747s in their fleet.
I've seen photos of this "hotel" before but yours is the first video I've watched of someone actually staying there. I could stay in the plane itself but no way in the engine pod. Way too claustrophobic for me and I want the "mod coms" handy! BTW, we're still waiting for you to create some "cruising altitude" coffee-themed merch :)
Very cool, but I think I’d try to stay in a room in the fuselage - assuming I could afford it, maybe, maybe not. It looks so cold in Sweden in January (duh!), I think you need one of those arctic hats!
Would you stay in the Jumbo Jet Hotel again but in the cock pit next time ?
The engine cabin could have been improved if they had cut into a window into it or installed cameras so guests could watch the planes coming and going.
The Toilet situation should also be improved.
The cafe could be improved immensely if they added a microwave or 2 and let guests know to bring their own food to heat up.
It was basic backpacker style accommodation for aviation nuts.
I spent my 18th birthday here in 2015, I've been again in 2018 & 2022, staying in the fuselage on all three times. Would love to go back in 2025 and stay in the cockpit, worth the money from my view- but wish me luck!
Great stuff scott and I was shocked supprised how can get cheap flights ✈️ that's amazing thanks enjoyed a lot too this video thanks
Just choose your time. I once did Stansted - Västerås for less than the price of two cups of coffee, £5.95.
Awesome video buddy from Alan in Lowestoft buddy 👍 😊
That was a brave challenge to take on Scott. It seems surreal to sleep in a converted jet engine. However I'll bet there'll be others lining up for the opportunity. Not me though, maybe I am just a big Wuss. We certainly get a good range of variety from your vids. Keep them coming. Safe travelling.
Terminal 4 and 5 at Arlanda are connected with a big corridor with moving sidewalks. So it really is one terminal. The security control at T5 is best because you dont have to take out your laptop and liquids. The you can just walk to T4.
Never these conditions !
i didnt know Simon Calder was a singer. hope he will bring out the DVD "live at waterloo station"
Try the treehotel in northern Sweden, Harads. You sleep in a luxury cabin high up in a three.
As in many others there is a train station under the airport, with the shuttle, commuter- and long distance trains. Its way warmer!
Great vlog as usual
Bucket list 1 item less
Bet biggest issue on return was bus into paisley at that time
Stay safe scott
Thank you, Scott!. That was a nice two-in-one video!
I wish you went in the summer, but I bet that would be s lot more money...
(With videos like that you should start inviting people to subscribe and comment (share their thoughts) - that along with the superb quality of the content would help the channel grow). Thanks!
Loved the video ...but not your choice of accommodation! I would have failed at check in ...those icy steps .. No insude toilet .....Ill pass but gkad you showed us all - Bravo 😊
Your engine pod had a bin but no lavatory. If it was a choice of going out into the snowy wastelands for a nighttime pee or quickly converting that handy bin into a chamber pot, I know which I'd choose. 😄
Brilliant video as ever Scott 👍🙂 Had to be worth a stay but the toilet/shower being in the main part of the plane meaning a walk in the cold from your engine room (see what I did there 😉) at night would probably put me off.
Great that you kept the camera rolling after you checked out and showed us your trip back to Glasgow. I find your on screen comments very funny 🤣 Looking forward to your next video already 👍🙂
This is so very random! I have been catching up with your back issues and this one popped up. It looked pretty basic though. And you need some ski gloves! I need my home comforts these days.
Really like your videos Scott. Seen a recent video from another traveller recently who had that cabin in the flight deck. Maybe worth trying that next time.
