      Awesome! Thanks for watching! As far as the colors go… we used Jacobean for the Shiplap and Early American for the lighter color Hearth and Mantle. Minwax.

  • @MissionForward3

    So wondering what you'd suggest....
    I live in a tiny home where the exterior walls are made from Engineered Steel Panels. These walls are 1 and 7/ 8th thick, so there are no studs.
    I bought a floating electric fireplace thinking I could back the wall with .20 plywood, then affix a grid onto the backing, attach the fireplace to 23/32nds sanded plywood, and screw into the grid.
    The fp itself weighs around 45 pounds. I have a floating mantel to go over the top as a TV will be mounted above the fireplace.
    Another option would be to build a frame that extends to the floor. This would absorb the load off the wall better I would think. The frame attached to the backing more for stability than to support the weight.
    Am I too concerned about the weight? The wall is essentially made from remnants of metal front doors.

    • @TheCrawlspaceCraftsman
      @TheCrawlspaceCraftsman  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think your on the right path by affixing the plywood to the wall and building out from there. I wouldn’t worry too much if you attached the frame then to the plywood. As long as it’s not overly top heavy it’s not going to fall way from the wall. Build your hearth, then the frame and run with it! Thanks for watching!!

  • @briankillebrew
    @briankillebrew ปีที่แล้ว +2

    My only question is : is that enough clearance behind the fireplace insert? I feel like they need a certain amount of space for heat dissipation but I could be way off. Also, if you can wire up one of those outlet kits you can DEFINITELY do it right and just hardwire an outlet up there. Same concept just flip a breaker off.
    But I like it. Nice work overall !

    • @TheCrawlspaceCraftsman
      @TheCrawlspaceCraftsman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Brian! Thanks for commenting! So the fireplace actually puts out almost zero heat on the back side. I’m not sure how that happens but as long as it’s not touching the wall I’m sure it’s fine! Also I probably could have just hard waited an outlet but I wanted to try this kit and it was pretty cool! I’m sure it might be the way to go for some Beginner DiYers. Thanks for watching!!!
