    Hi Genna! I love the video and can’t wait for part 2! Two questions I still have is did you have to register your crochet business as an LLC for taxes/how do you do the taxes and also how do you figure out shipping costs with Etsy? 😊

    I don’t have a crochet business, but I wanted to start up a press on nail business. Tbh this looks amazing because I absolutely love plushies! So being able to make my own is amazing to me, but I have always wanted to get my nails done, but can’t afford that atm. So that was something else that I wanted to do too. I am on a limited amount of polish colors myself. So yeah commission I may avoid for now, but I am super excited to get started selling. I am going to start up with Etsy and Shopify, but thanks for the branded link info. Never heard of that but that will help for sure. Going to binge watch the rest of your videos about this soon

I wasn’t sure I wanted to open a shop but now I do! I love the advice about made to order and limiting the amount of orders you get. I’d hate to make a bunch of plushies and then no one buy them! Looking forward to part 2!

    hii Genna!! Adding onto your point about starting up for the very first time, getting a link from the sellers referral program really helped me out when I first started - I think it's still 40 free listings for both the link sharer and the user when they use the link! It's not much but it seriously helped out my fear of spending money on listings as a new shop 💙

    I'm so impressed. I wish I would have had as much drive at your age (I don't actually know how old you are but I'm assuming you're a lot younger than me, haha). Now that I'm a bit older, it is a lot harder to fit my side business into my daily life. I too work a full time job, and I have a fiancé and a 1,5 year old that I want to spend as much time with as I can. Before I had my daughter, I think I would have been so keen on spending 5-9pm crocheting, but now I definitely can't afford losing that many hours with the family. At this point, I have time to do 5-10 orders a week, and that's about it. No time for social media, which is super sad, because I would love to build my brand on Instagram for example. I just don't have the time. Good job on this video, I wish I would have seen it about 10 years ago when I started crocheting. 😄

    Thank you so much for this video! I started crochetting in Jan 2022, and opened a small crochet side hustle biz in Apr 2022. Till date I only had 1 sale on Etsy, and some others on a local app. Not gonna lie, it is disheartening to see few sales despite my effort, but your video has motivated me to work harder, and to revamp my Etsy store! Hi jenna I love your videos I am from the UK and the issue we have is we have to do test our plushies before we sell them for the UKCA/CE law to make sure they are safe. So I’m trying to find the alternative and try and make the simpler plushies to make and test and maybe start selling on Etsy 😊

    You are amazing. You have so much energy and very inspiring. I'm 62 and have just been crocheting for years and giving as gifts. I've never made money. I also make crafts using TH-cam. I was thinking of branding and printing labels for my 'gifts' so people could contact me and order. I've gone to tricky trays and thought about donating my work and get some feedback. What's your opinion?

  • @JaydaAlexis
    @JaydaAlexis 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hii I’m so glad I found you your plushies are absolutely adorable. & thanks so so much for sharing all this detailed information can’t wait to watch part 2. One thing that i haven’t figured out with researching a crochet business is basically like what allowed to be sold like do you have to design all your own patterns if you’re gonna sell them or like if there’s a free pattern out in the world that you like & wanna make it bigger or smaller or different colors or add something to it like would that then make it yours thus making it sellable? Like I’m unsure on the legalities of that cuz that last thing I’d ever wanna do is think I’m selling something i made but because it’s not my original design, have backlash about it. Cuz sure I can crochet I can follow a pattern but designing one is a whole different beast I haven’t tapped into yet. & I’m not sure if it’s just common sense & im slow, but from what I’ve seen I have seen anyone talk about that specifically so hope you see this & can give your input! Love ya 🥰💖🌸

You mentioned Etsy fees, and I have heard that from other crafters, but I'm curious how shipping gets set. Do you set the cost? Does Etsy? Do you have to work it into your product cost? Does it come out of your overhead? Thanks so much!

    I have a couple questions that you might be able to help me with in part 2? Is there somewhere you can print out shipping labels without getting a specific labeller machine? I just want to cut costs before I begin and I can invest more in the future. Additonally, can you go through a full order process and show us how you go from an etsy shop order to a label to shipping it out? I am not sure personally how shipping stuff works and this would be very helpful to see.

    I'm just watching for curiosity, I'm from the Czech Republic and selling crocheted stuffed animals is difficult here. Because if I make a crocheted plush bee, I can't sell it - because it looks like a toy, and every toy has to have a certification, which is impossible to get (it can cost up to $2,141, it's only valid for a limited time and only for one product of the same size and color ). It doesn't matter that the bee is made of certified yarn, with safety eyes and certified filling. And it doesn't matter that I didn't originally make it as a toy - if it looks like a toy, then by law it is a toy. It is not enough to state that it is not intended for children under three years of age and that it is only a decoration. A fine may be issued for selling without a certificate. Even so, many people sell and hope that no one will report them. I hate the bureaucracy here. And sending abroad is not worth it because of the high postage and complicated taxes :(
