I’m so happy for your colourwork adventures! Will you make your Soldotna long sleeve or just stick to the whole crop look? The colours are perfect for a moody winter look.
Love your podcasts 👌💗🙏🧶🧶🧶
You're too kind! Thank you very much!
Thanks for all these tips and tricks, I'd add have in mind your budget, and what you plan to knit in the next year. If you have e tendency to overspend, bring cash rather than a credit card. 😉
Thank you! Great idea. Wishing everyone a wonderful festival!
I just discovered your channel 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it🥰!! I have been binge watching to try and catch up, I am half way from your first video. I am cozied up in our little rural Manitoba cottage at the lake, sipping wine, knitting, and watching your videos. Thank you for all the wonderful content, I am looking so forward to future videos 💖
What a gorgeous picture you've painted- cottage, wine, knitting. How lovely! I'm thrilled that you're here and are enjoying the knitty and yarny bits. Stay cosy and happy knitting!!!
It was lovely meeting you in the hill last year! I’ve been enjoying watch your videos since then. I hope we get a chance to meet again this this year and maybe even knit a little. 🙂
I agree! One of my favourite parts of fibre festivals are meeting other people that share the same passion. Until we meet again.
Rheinbeck is out of my budget but I did get to meet Kasey and from Youngfolk Knits and Becky from a Handknit Letter at the Arkansas yarn crawl. Such a thrill
That sounds lovely! I'm so happy you were able to attend a festival closer to home.
Ahhhhh!!!! It’s me! It was so nice to meet you last year. Your podcast has been keeping me great company. Thank you for another great upload! ❤
I'm beyond flattered that you're here! I'm thrilled that we met last year and loved our chat. Wishing you happy knitting and looking forward to your next episode!
Bummed I won’t see you in Rhinebeck. Great tips! I’m so excited for the weekend! Maybe Knit City Montreal?
Me too! Yes, Knit City Montreal is on my radar. Wishing you a magical time at Rhinebeck!!!
How do I buy some of the patterns
The patterns are all linked in the show notes. They are available through Ravelry. Happy knitting!
Excellent thoughtful episode. I am trying to keep a knitting journal but sometimes it looks like random thoughts and numbers. I am more likely to post in Ravelry if I do the recording of my process if I write it down first. That might be a helpful topic.
Thank you very much! I keep a knitting journal, but definitely see how recording my knitting in Ravelry would be beneficial and potentially superior to my written journal (e.g., access when I'm out of my home, other knitters can benefit from reading my recordings, data is kept in one place).
I can only agree with our knitting friends and would choose the cream colored yarn to emphasize the warmer autumn tones, dear Jennifer. I absolutely love your sweater with the unspun yarn. It would be fantastic if you could design a knitting pattern for it.
Thank you for your vote on colour choice! Noted. Also, a big thank you for your sweater compliment. I'm in love with this unspun yarn sweater and do have bigger plans for this sweater!
❤your content!
Thank you very much! I hope you found it helpful.
As I have a stash that is way too large, forthis year and a lot of last year. Therefore I like to search, in my favoutites, somethimg that uses my yarn.
What a wonderful idea! I hope you are delighted by a beautiful pairing of a treasure from you stash with the perfect pattern. Happy knitting!
Hi,I love your blouse ❤ I think I am also going to knit the Sailors Gansy, beautiful
You're too kind! Thank you very much. This sweater is gorgeous!!!
Good video! A valuable service for beginners and experts alike.
Thank you very much! I really enjoy analyzing and reflecting on my making process. I am discovering, with pausing and breaking down criteria for pattern pairing with yarn, allows me to love my knitting time even more...and of course makes wearing my finished garments even more special!!!
Thanks Jennifer! Watching this while I knit on my Field Sweater in a sumptuous caramel colour! Yay!
Lovely! Thank you. A caramel Field Sweater would be scrumptious. Happy knitting!!!
TY Jennifer! I like your mindful making process; these tips are a good reminder for me to just slow down and focus on each step.
Thank you! I am jazzed to start new projects and naturally want to dive right in, which is totally great with some cast-ons, but find with others, putting in the time upfront can really increase the joy in my knitting experience. I find it interesting and helpful to allow myself to pause and reflect before jumping in, of course whilst knitting on a WIP to keep my hands busy!
Skill level can vary so much, for example I consider myself an advance lace knitter, but a fairly beginner brioche knitter. I also would say I am an advance cable knitter but a fairly new double knitting or colorwork knitter. I get so bored knitting miles of stockinette, but I often appreciated the classic look of simple designs. Sharing with friends about patterns they knitted and the experience they had is also useful.
What a gorgeous comment! Thank you for breaking skill level down even further into knitting technique. How insightful!!!! I agree- I feel very competent with knitting cables, lace but continue to gain proficiency and finding my favourite method with colourwork knitting.
Love your wisdom! Another terrific podcast Jennifer. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks and for encouraging mindful making! ❤
Thank you very much! I really love breaking down my making process and analyzing what I do so I can tweak it and improve my success rate for the next time. Thrilled that you enjoyed it!
Hi, in which episode do you talk about the sweater you are wearing by Camille F? This sweater is in my que so I like to hear more about it and I like the higher neckline you made!
The episode in which I share details about the Field Sweater is th-cam.com/video/17UshAON4ic/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=pairswellwithknitting. Happy knitting!

Love your choices and signed up, you look beautiful and are a pleasure to listen to 🤗
I'm thrilled that you're here! Thank you very much. I loved selecting the patterns and sharing about them.
I vote for the hunter green yarn or the fluffy cream. Not sure, I'm split.
Lovely! Your vote has been noted. Thank you!
My first video and I already subscribed simply because I am also a loose knitter. I look forward to watching more of your videos. <3
I'm thrilled that you're here and sticking around for a bit! Here's to loose knitting!
Your your new hair style is definitely an upgrade! Very feminine and gives more harmonious proportions than the tight bun! Works well with your wonderful sweater, too. I knitted Midori Hirose’s White Mountain in a greyish brown colour, not being a brown type either and I love it! It’s a similar style, funnel neck , some interesting details in the raglan construction and sleeves, quickly became a favourite.
Thank you very much! Your yarn pairing with pattern sounds delightful! What a lovely combination.
Socks by Stone Knits are my dream. So many of them I want to knit! So many beautiful plans you've got, I cant wait to see the progress! Wonderful patterns!
I love all of them!!! Such gorgeous designs. And I also want to knit all of the Stone Knits socks!!! If only I was a sock knitter.
My choice for the Soldotna would definitely the green, it pops!
Awesome! Thank you for your vote.
I think the gold yarn would be "perfect" in your Soldotna sweater. Although it is the same color family as the brown yarn, it is light enough that, in my opinion, it would just pop. I also think the richness of the gold would enhance the other colours. Will be looking forward to seeing what you choose!
Lovely! Thank you for your vote and sharing your rationale. It is a beautifully rich choice.
Fabulous spending time with your wonderful Podcast….. just a thought… the next cast on color work….. add a neon mohair thread to your purple! It will make all your moody colors dance!
Thank you very much! I do adore adding a pop of texture to one of the colours in colourwork. A wonderful idea. And....a neon, textured pop. Wow! Love this!
My base Tmobile plan includes international cellular to most European countries at no cost. My old carrier did not - huge benefit and less expensive.
That is a huge benefit. I'm not sure if we have anything similar in Canada. Thank you for sharing!
Just so you know for the future - Yggdrasil is pronounced "igg-dra-sil" I believe, and Arboreal "are-bore-real" I think with a stress on "bore". At least that's how I say it :) These knits all look so pretty, the jumpers especially!
Lovely! Thanks for your help. They are truly beautiful designs.
So fun! I love these picks and just bookmarked a few - thanks for sharing them! That pumpkin yarn is stunning - I'm obsessed! What do you plan to use it for? I struggle with bulkier knits that look flattering, so I'm really curious
You're too kind! I'm so happy that some of the pattern selected were inspiring for you as well. The sweater I was really wanting to cast-on with the Weekend Wool in Pumpkin was the Karl Johan. The gauge was slightly off, but it is a very simple design and construction to modify. This will be in my future!
@@pairswellwithknitting That will be lovely! Ty! :)
What a lovely story! Isn't the knitting community just the best?!? I just discovered your podcast and love it! Both the sweaters, and the hat, are gorgeous - looking forward to seeing the FO's and all the details
I'm thrilled that you're here! The knitting community is the warmest. Thank you very much for your cheering-on for my most active WIPs. I am so excited to be wearing these gorgeous sweaters and cosy hat.
I vote for the fluffy cream fiber as a nice mix for your Soldotna colors!
Lovely! Thank you for your vote!
I vote for the mustard yellow for the crop. It’s gorgeous, rich, vivid and oh-so-autumn!
Love this oh-so-autumn! Now, we just need the temp to cool a bit to wear all of our knits here in Toronto.
I like the fluffy cream for the Soldotna :)
Thank you very much! Your ballot has been casted.
I personally love either of the two creamy yarns. But I’m sure whatever you choose will look incredible!
You're too kind! Thank you for casting your vote!
Fluffy cream gets my vote!
Great! Your ballots has been casted. Thank you!
Jennifer, I’m getting set to knit the same sweater. I nominate the cream for you!! Hugs!❤
I'm soooo excited for you! And me! What colours will you be knitting with? Your vote for cream has been casted. Thank you!
I made the Soldotna in August and I first charted out the color work on graph paper, and than made four different swatches comparing color choices and color placement. Good luck with choosing.
I love how organized and methodical you are in planning a colourwork sweater. I am so excited to cast-on, but am very much trying to pump the breaks and plan, like you!
LOVE your hair!
Thank you! My hair has a mind of it's own and I'm trying to be less controlling of it. She's different every day!
Dear Paris! It was really my pleasure to send the yarn and the chocolate. I am so happy you already liked it! Our knitting-community is the best place, where ever we live! <3 Mariel
Dear Mariel! I'm thrilled that you heard our yarn story and my appreciation. I am currently working on the sleeve and she is looking stunning! Thank you.❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Hello...I've recently found your podcast and am enjoying it! One suggestion on the decreases for your hat. Maybe try double decreases. The only reason I thought of it is because I am doing double decreases on a heavily ribbed sweater I am knitting for my adult son. The decreases are stunning! And they flow as you described. (Brooklyn Tweed Pattern "Grist")
This is wonderful suggestion! I have pulled out my decreases that I showed in the episode and started over again with a 4-point decrease with k2tog and ssk that flank one of the knit columns and still not the look I'm after. I will try the double decreases today. Thank you!!!❤️
I wonder how it is to rip this very fragile unspun yarn, how did you manage it ? I am so touched you got this yarn and chocolate from Marielle in Norway. What a great community we have !!! I like the cream yarn the best for a contrast in your Soldotna.
The knitting community is the warmest! Ripping out unspun yarn can be tricky. I slowly pull from the closest point possible near the stitch and do a tugging motion. Sometimes there's breakage. Sometimes there's quite a bit of breakage, especially with the Forgarn I've been knitting with. It's not perfect and can be a humbling experience. Thank you for your vote on the cream yarn!
Good morning! So happy to catch up with what you’re working on. Very pretty. 😊
Good morning, Taylor! I'm so happy you're here. I have so many things on the needles right now and of course, being fall, I am so inspired to be making. Happy autumnal knitting!
Soldotna! This put together with the Holst yarn will be fabulous. My Soldtona needs to get some love and now I see yours ( and to knit again….). Just need to wear. You do inspire me. So enjoyed today.
You're too kind! Thank you. Yes! Wear your Soldotna. It's a beautiful design and one that when I find myself wearing it, makes me happy and feel proud that I've knit it!
I like the cream, it makes the other colors show up clearer. Shout out to your wonderful viewers who offered to find the skein of yarn, amazing! ❤️
Yes! The knitting community makes my heart grow. Thank you for your vote. Cream is noted.
I like the cream. It will be stunning whatever you choose.
Your vote for cream has been casted! Thank you.
Hi Jennifer. I was pleased that your channel showed up in my feed yesterday and I have squeezed in watching several of your episodes since. I enjoy your substantive, detailed and light delivery. Thanks for another good knitting distraction.
I'm thrilled that you're here! Thank you. I love sharing about my knits and aim to do so in a clear way that other knitters can find helpful, all while experiencing joy along the way!
I’m a 99% sweater knitter, so your podcast are most enjoyable Jennifer! The other 1% are socks and mitts 🤭
We are twin knitters! Sweaters have my heart. I wish a had a second set of hands to knit socks and mitts along side my sweaters, but sweaters are the star of my knit time.
the mustard/gold color works if you are going with a "moody" scheme
Thank you! I do love a moody, autumn colour theme. Your vote is noted!
