    Very interesting to hear that even when patients hit just a few mm's of expansion they tell him that their airway issues are almost completely gone. Makes me wonder why some patients are doing DOME and going all the way to 10mm diastema's in their upper arch.

      it's crazy to think just 1mm matters

    He mentioned that the tad's of the mse will tilt, causing loss of a few mm in the expansion. Is that the same thing as the mse screw drag that you've mentioned in the past?
    Also very interesting how class 1 can still be expanded with no bite problems, my question on last vid was answered spot on, brilliant interview.

    • @JawHacks
      @JawHacks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      no, tilt is not the same as drag. you could say that drag is when the bone budges and instead of tilting in response to bone resistance, the TADs cut right through the bone instead.

    Question for follow-up video: Does Dr. Ting overexpand to take account for some relapse? Or does he aim at the maxilla to be exactly 5mm wider than the mandible?

  • @Lean-xt1lq
    @Lean-xt1lq 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Does this mean that by doing maxillary expansion you can also expand the mandible to some degree? I'm looking to maxillary expansion as possible treatment for my TMJ followed by Invisalign. I have a recessed jaw from retractive orthodontics and I have noticed this trend of my lower teeth being tipped inwards. By looking at the position of my wisdom teeth I can see where my jaw SHOULD be and it is out of alignment with where it landed.

    I would like to know what Dr Ting thinks about MSE for someone who has already had septoplasty and turbinate reduction for nasal breathing but with no success?

    • @Anglo-EgyptianMan
      @Anglo-EgyptianMan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would also like to know the answer to this question, I had a septoplasty and a rhinoplasty (turbinate reduction) over two years ago. After recovery from surgery, my symptoms only improved a little bit but now I'm back to square one, I think I need MSE.

    • @shanel624
      @shanel624 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a similar issue. The septo and turbinate reduction didn’t do much to approve my nasal breathing. I’ve tried MSE several times but it failed because the bone was too strong. I just got a DOME surgery done and I finally have the gap. I’m thinking this should definitely improve my nasal breathing

     @Jaw Hacks hurry up with the followups Mr. Jaw Hacks, this interviews are really good.
    I would like to know if there are ways to minimize screw dragging and screw tilting, like for example by eating some mineral supplements to strenghthen the bone or medicines like Teriparatide (Forsteo).
    Thanks!

    Are MSE results permanent? Or could the expansion close over time if you didn't wear your retainers or lapsed on your proper tongue posture?

    Hey do you know the COPA treatment? My doctor suggested this to me for my TMD. I also have a slight overbite.

  • @tjam4229
    @tjam4229 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have obstructive sleep apnea, much to do, I believe, with limited nasal airway. My tongue position is such that it rests near the back of my throat, and easily drifts backward when I’m relaxed/sleeping. Thus blocking my airway, causing snoring etc.
    Would MSE result in reduction or elimination of Obstructive Sleep apnea? I’m wondering if better breathing thru the nose would allow better tongue position anteriorly, and increase “laryngeal airway”...??

    • @wesleyturverey
      @wesleyturverey 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      T Jam tongue posture becomes much easier when you get mse. Ron has talked about this in the past. Also you should look into getting your tongue tie cut if you have one

    • @mariacuevas8331
      @mariacuevas8331 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can try taping your mouth before you go to sleep. I've been doing it and I always wake up with my tongue up on the roof and out of my airway. It triggers your natural sleeping tongue posture and ensures that you breathe through your nose only. Make sure to use tape with a somewhat weak adhesive so you can easily take it off if need be
      Edit: It also helps strengthen your tongue muscle and muscle memory during sleep so that in the day, you can use that muscle memory to practice mewing

    I'm very interested to know if Dr. Ting or any other professional you know has an opinion on whether someone like me, who has already gone through Lefort 1 with plates and screws could be a candidate for MSE. I clearly am deficient in my upper jaw, still having a significant cross bite. I'm starting to work with WVU orthodonics (which can potentially use MARPE/MSE), and in my next appointment they will go over xrays/CBCT to see if it's possible, given that I already have plates and screws that could possibly interfere. I just wanted to hear as much information as possible from professionals on this topic, as I can't find existing information thus far about anyone who has already gone through Lefort 1 and still needs significant transverse expansion. My first WVU consult wasn't able to answer the question.

    so with the tipping of the lower teeth, if they are tipped outwards to meet the upper teeth, will they eventually move outwards so that all the teeth are straight?

    • @JawHacks
      @JawHacks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      depending on the case they may slightly "torqued" or tilted outwards toward the cheeks in order to meet the upper teeth.

      @@JawHacks but how can i find the providers, it's so enigmatic ,Google aint helping me and i tried everything contacting diffrent firms that i found that make hybrid hyrax stuff which is MARPE and then i barely found providers in my Country and after consultation she recommended SARPE surgery with MARPE and everything else that goes with it, these MARPE are with 2 screws, SARPE can be covered with insurance but she said i should push my upper jaw as well which is crazy to me as i dont have such a problem, it's a gruesome procedure and i dont even have a noticeable underbite my teeth are aligned, at least just a narrow palate when widened wouldnt fit my lower jaw but i would move teeth then, i'm 27 and she told me it's not advised for adults to go for appliances rather surgical assisted procedures. If you know sites where i can find providers or doctors that i can contact that can provide more info for MSE in Europe i would greatly appriciate that bro!
