    I’m new to VR. Just got a PSVR2 last week and No Man’s Sky was my first “oh my god!” moment. PSVR2 tip of the week. Turn the brightness down to 20ish % and it dramatically reduces or even eliminates motion sickness. Has something to do with image persistence

    • @ShapeshifteRTheRadiusGameCat
      @ShapeshifteRTheRadiusGameCat ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Never heard of that helping with motion sickness but i don't suffer from it anyway. You do kill the HDR by turning it all the way down for sure but to each his own ofcourse

    • @Oldsurfer65
      @Oldsurfer65 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, i should have clarified that i had more of an issue with Horizon Call of the Mountain and turning the brightness down helped a lot. I didn’t have as much of an issue with No Man’s Sky.

      I started playing vr at a time when some windows update had made it completely unplayable. I am a stubborn individual. I was troubleshooting in vr in 5 fps for hours, maybe even over the course of multiple days. when I got out I got motion sick from real life being too smooth. but I don't get motion sick in vr at all, so 10/10 I recommend this strategy to gain your vr legs

    Been playing No Mans Sky lately.... But seeing how amazing it is in VR is making me so jealous

    • @tinminator8905
      @tinminator8905 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Don't worry, the VR port is shitty and less than 3dof IMO. Your character does not turn your head, you have to manually turn with your controller stick, which makes me motion sick. If you acidentally walk half a meter away from your character your hands are misplaced and your hud is in an awkward spot. Overall it was the worst VR experience I have ever had. Flat screen No man's sky is so much better.

    • @Kondiqq
      @Kondiqq ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tinminator8905 I love VR in No Man's Sky. The trick is to play in seated mode. I like playing other VR games standing, but when you launch NMS, you expect to play for longer periods of time and for me, standing for 3-12 hours (my average session in NMS in VR when I launch it during weekend, so I don't play it that often) wouldn't be possible. Seating while playing this game works perfectly for me. In seated mode you turn your character with a stick anyway and I use snap turn. My computer chair can turn, so I can adjust slightly for the interface and the game is just amazing in VR for me - the scale makes a huge difference.
      Actually, I can't stand the flat version of the game - I hate it. I tried playing it before I had VR (using gamepass) and everything felt like a mobile game interface and I didn't like controls at all. After using VR for a while, I was looking at some videos with best VR games, and NMS appeared in most of them, so I decided to just buy it on Steam, try it in VR and return it if I didn't like it (I didn't have gamepass at the moment). And well... I immediately felt in love with the VR version. It took some tweaking for graphics options to be nice and performance not to suffer in more demanding areas, but it was well worth it. I also tried playing in flatscreen later to make some proper screenshots of my main base planet, but in flat, even with maxed out graphics settings, it just doesn't look good for me, like at all. In VR it's like magic for me, you feel like you're there, you see the blades of grass moving in a proper scale (on flatscreen it looks really flat and small) and it's just entirely different game.
      Flying a ship in VR isn't enjoyable, though. I wish they did the controls like in VTOL VR or at least gave us an option to use HOTAS (I love flying in Elite: Dangerous with HOTAS). But exploring planets on foot is amazing and that's what I love in this game. For flying n space I have Elite: Dangerous.

    I found a trick to interacting with objects in VR, If you are using left thumbstick to walk. - When you walk up to an object to interact, like your ship or harvested flora, rather than pushing the interact button and raising your right hand to pull or interact, Simply use the interact button to grab, and then the left stick to walk backwards. The interaction is much less finicky, and occurs nearly instantly.

    I LOVE this game in VR. Got soo many hours logged on it. Sometimes I do space battles. Sometimes I just fly around. Visit bases. Collect cool ships. So fun. I CANT WAIT till I can afford a PSVR2 & PS5 tho...

    On pc, NMS doesn’t have all the graphics options in VR mode, you have to first set the graphics lower in non-VR mode first, save the game, exit out, and then go try it in VR.

    Honestly one of my favorite VR games. Its so easy to get lost in the game. Flat screen i cant play solo for the life of me but in VR it adds more depth

    Habie, TitanFall 2 is on sale, if you’ll remember you played titanfall 1 in vr in one of your contractors videos a while back, but with no titans. The game’s only like three bucks, and the severs came back recently. Regardless, I think you’d have a great time.

    What is more crazy is the amount of content with so many planets to roam packed in a few Gigs. Now imagine how much GTA gigs will have for a full roaming planet.

    I dont count it as a loading screen because you can stop and turn around if you forgot something, instead of waiting to land on that planet and only then go to the previous one

    Have to say, I had a very similar experience with NMS with regards to VR. Despite playing it on pc for many years, and various other VR games, NMS in vr is something I avoided since my pc can't handle it well and the psvr2 release was pretty rocky, as Habie shows here. I love this game, but that was was.. not good lol.
    BUT! Sine they patched it up now and echoes came out, I heard it improved and decided to give it a go, and my god is it one of the best VR experiences I've ever had. They took a while to get there, but man is it fun to go through the game again in VR along with the latest big update.

    Finally got around to playing this game and I can't help but to play in VR every time. At this point I consider it a VR game with a flatscreen mode.

    9:08 No Mans Sky is entirely crossplay for all platforms and including VR and non-VR players.

    Upgrades to your ship will make those distances much faster to traverse. The newest updates grow inventory capacities tremendously, so try and focus on a farm for the big money makers. Get your industry going with portal hops between, etc. Once you have a few billion, then you should be good.

    You should try space engine! The planet surfaces are not as complex as NMS, but exploring galaxies and solar systems is really cool in VR
