I have a nice fun and easy acoustic guitar lesson for you guys today with all the chords to John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads".
Released in 1971 on John Denver's Poems, Prayers and Promises album, "Take Me Home Country Roads" went on to become a massive career launching hit for Denver and became his signature song as well.
In this Take Me Home Country Roads guitar lesson video, I will show you all the chords that make up this massive acoustic hit.
If you listen to the original recording you will hear multiple guitar layers including one guitar that is arpeggio picking the chords, one playing bass lines and another that is strumming the chords. In a live setting, John Denver simply strummed the chords so that is how I am going to teach you to play it in this lesson.
The chords are pretty simple with just one bar chord to contend with. You will also find that most of the chord progressions use the same chords just in a slightly different order. So because of that, I hope you will be able to memorize everything relatively quickly.
There are two ways you can choose to play these chords. You can just strum them in a standard fashion, or you can use the bass note strum method to accent the bass notes during the chord strums. For most of the lesson I chose to use the bass note strum method, since that is how it was played on the original recording. This will require a little bit more control of the picking hand since you need to be able to pick a single bass string followed by full strums. This picking style is used a lot in country and western music so if you enjoy that sort of thing, I suggest you practice playing the song like that. I will demonstrate which bass notes to pick for each chord within the video lesson.
However, even if you don't use the bass note strum method and just play this song with a standard strumming style, it will still sound great.
So I hope you guys enjoy learning this acoustic guitar classic! It is definitely a winner by the campfire! :)

Congratulation! Very good lesson!
Hey man, love your videos and I'm sure you get lots of requests but if you feel like it, a lesson of to live is to die by Metallica would be awesome. I really can find a solid tab or video that sounds right. So thanks for all the lessons already.
Thank you for your amazing contributions. You have a gift for teaching. I’ve been playing for 30 years. I’m ok. For me personally, you broken down walls of self doubt on my abilities to try songs I thought I wouldn’t be able to learn. Not this Denver song, lol, I can play it. Just checking it out 😊 The Beatles, Boston, Police and others I have learned from you. And I am a professional drummer 🤘
I have yet to see another TH-cam guitar teacher as good as you as far as I’m concerned. 🤘🤜
so fun and simple!
Take Me Home, Country Roads
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains
Shenandoah River,
Life is old there
Older than the trees
Younger than the mountains
Blowin' like the breeze
[Chorus]
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gathered 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine
Teardrops in my eye
[Chorus]
I hear her voice
In the mornin' hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin' down the road I get a feelin'
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
[Chorus:Repeat x2]
Take me home, now country roads
Take me home, now country roads
Almost perfect but it’s “Take me Home, DOWN Country Roads
In german!!

Chode fingers
Make this free dude!
I usually watch the content on this channel because of the lack of enthusiasm, but I liked this one!
👍Good good☺
How do you play that beginning riff before the songs starts with the chords can’t find it anywhere
on that bridge, throw a D7 on the end to build it another step.
I'm going to try that thanks
@@smaganas Glad to help fellow musicians in any way i can. Honestly we all learn from each other, and that's wonderful. Sevenths are so sweet when they fit...its the wannabe Jazz guitarist in me that loves those little parts that add interest.
Fallout 76 is the reason I looked this up for my gitaur
From now on ill always be playing this song with the ink spots intro lol
Is the game worth getting? Love fallout but have heard a lot of negative things about it
@@DannyBridie no, I returned it half an hour after buying it. It's really shit
Danny Bridie I am 3 months late, but it's anything but a Fallout game.
Sweet close ups on the frets, less replays would be nice on this end,so im using Audipo app to cut and bookmark.
could you please do annie's song aswell?
*Me to my girlfriend (nonexistent):* What do you want?
*Her:* 5:39
Hi, I would like some advice, I tried to make a country road tutorial only that a copyright dispute arose. Could I kindly know if the same thing happened to you too?
❤️
❤❤❤❤
do you have a link to the chords and words somewhere?
seriously? google the song title with the word tabs after it....good luck
great sir
yee-haw
Go andy
I feel like this is a stupid question but where does the bridge take place?
By where I mean when
I’m real dumb I figured it out after listening to the songg
So now I know where ordinary world by Green Day got its rhythm from
Please teach how to play Somebody's Me by Enrique Iglesias
I still can’t get F down even after practicing for hours
Keep practicing. You’ll get it
We want to hear you sing Karl.
Bridge 6:10
Welcome to galaxy news radio
R.I.P Merlin
Any reason you don't sing it as you play it?
Sólo???
Where the fallout people? 😂
If you look at video of him he used a capo on the 2nd feet making the G cord into an A cord the D into an E and the c cord a D and the Em an F#minor
WEST VIRGINIA
Such a shame i was born with short chubby fingers and can't do chords on the guitar, I'd love to have been able to play this!! I'll stick to my bass, but great video no less
Dude, if Israel IZ could play the freakin ukulele, Im sure you can play an acoustic guitar :D
All others are teaching in Key G????
Possibly because the others are teaching with a capo to avoid the F chord...

Not a single soul;
RT Game fans; cOuNtRy rOaDs
For the first time you look so uncomfortable with a guitar 😂😂😂😂
Like si veniste aqui por la canción de fallout 76
No tabs for the riffs ?!?!?!?! That's so unlike him. (why I watch his, because he gives you the little fills and licks) anyway, ,thanks for the video
Fallout 76
Never realized Jason Mraz (I'm Yours) totally ripped off John Denver. Subtle differences but very similar chord progressions...
Thousands of songs share a very similar chord progression, they're
very common chords.
Nice , no capo
Thank you
Thanks !
