Hi Sunny, in TH-cam i find only people who explain it difficult. But then i found you. And you explain it like, so good, that i can understand it well and learn it. It is that you explain it with simple words
Very informative !!! best explanation I have seen for VTP!!!, Prof.Sunny please I hope you create a full fundamental Course in Networking in Udemy it w'd really a greet resource to use my regards.
Hi, Sunny! I misunderstand one thing about conf. revision number(CRN) in this video: U said every new configuration increments a CRN by one, so the higher number - newer(recenter) data. But at 6:47 U said client will update its data, when it receives a lower CRN... isn't it vice versa? Or I didn't get the idea totally...
The it he is referencing is the CRN of the VTP Client. "If ITS OWN revision number is higher or equal, the packet is ignored." [emphasis added] Read: If the VTP Client device has a CRN of 50 and it receives a Summary Advertisement of 50 or lower it will ignore the Summary Advertisement. "If IT (still referring to the VTP Client and should be read as ITS OWN) is lower, the client will update its database." [emphasis added] Read: If the VTP Client device has a CRN of 50 and it received a Summary Advertisement of 51 or higher it will use the Summary Advertisement information to update itself. Hopefully this explanation helps. English can be difficult with "it" as it is a pronoun, singular pronoun, and noun and keeping track of what "it" is "it" at any time can be tricky to follow.
Sir, but I can see my client switch sync with server but when I assign port to a particular port in a vlan in server my client only sync the name of vlan but not the port assigned to it I have to go-to client and assign port on it ?? Why
I just wondering, if vtp server configuration has more revision, but actually revision was to delete some vlan, and then its connected to a network and then that switch will broadcast its vlan config and apply that config since it has higher revision, then it'll 0-ed the whole vlan network configuration. Instead of counting the revision, why they don't calculate the number of vlan record to be broadcast over the network
Great question and insight. To answer your question about "why they don't calculate the number...", I think the number of vlan is not certain as a new switch might join the network any time.
Thanks...also request you to upload video on switch capacity, forwarding rate in mpps, backplane speed, stack bandwidth, aggregate bandwidth, use of switch ASIC chip and buffer and use of Switch RAM...
Thanks for ur reply...these points are required for performance of switch and mentioned in govt. Procurement tenders.....for system engineers or presales engineer...
Though, the video is just 9 minutes however when I was drafting notes on it I used 9 pages. So much details in a very crisp video.. I am preparing for layer 2/3 interview let's c
Man, IDK what it is about your voice or your explanation, but things just click when I watch your videos Sunny. Thank you!

Did ever receive an answer to this discrepancy?
The it he is referencing is the CRN of the VTP Client.
"If ITS OWN revision number is higher or equal, the packet is ignored." [emphasis added]
Read: If the VTP Client device has a CRN of 50 and it receives a Summary Advertisement of 50 or lower it will ignore the Summary Advertisement.
"If IT (still referring to the VTP Client and should be read as ITS OWN) is lower, the client will update its database." [emphasis added]

thank u so much that was really helpful
Thanks this video is really helpful.
Well explained i appreciate ; but i have a question is it recommended to work with vtp protocol or it produces more vulnerabilities?
hello sunny. Do you have topic about RIPv1 &RIPv2
Thank you Sunny!!
Any playlist created for Routing Protocols ?? please do create videos on routing protocols !
Not yet. I will.

Why we can not use vtp for VLAN trunking
excellent explanations as always as far as i am concerned.....can you make a video on DTP(dynamic trunking protocol)?
Which is the difference between Dynamic desirable and Dynamic Auto???
VTP Dynamic seeks/initiates to establish a trunk; whereas VTP Auto waits to be invited to become/join a trunk. Hope that helps.
greate explanation
thank you
Thanks...also request you to upload video on switch capacity, forwarding rate in mpps, backplane speed, stack bandwidth, aggregate bandwidth, use of switch ASIC chip and buffer and use of Switch RAM...
