    Hi, Sunny! I misunderstand one thing about conf. revision number(CRN) in this video:
    U said every new configuration increments a CRN by one, so the higher number - newer(recenter) data.
    But at 6:47 U said client will update its data, when it receives a lower CRN... isn't it vice versa? Or I didn't get the idea totally...

    • @galaxysi06
      @galaxysi06 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did ever receive an answer to this discrepancy?

    • @EricWood42
      @EricWood42 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The it he is referencing is the CRN of the VTP Client.
      "If ITS OWN revision number is higher or equal, the packet is ignored." [emphasis added]
      Read: If the VTP Client device has a CRN of 50 and it receives a Summary Advertisement of 50 or lower it will ignore the Summary Advertisement.
      "If IT (still referring to the VTP Client and should be read as ITS OWN) is lower, the client will update its database." [emphasis added]
      Read: If the VTP Client device has a CRN of 50 and it received a Summary Advertisement of 51 or higher it will use the Summary Advertisement information to update itself.
      Hopefully this explanation helps. English can be difficult with "it" as it is a pronoun, singular pronoun, and noun and keeping track of what "it" is "it" at any time can be tricky to follow.

    I just wondering, if vtp server configuration has more revision, but actually revision was to delete some vlan, and then its connected to a network and then that switch will broadcast its vlan config and apply that config since it has higher revision, then it'll 0-ed the whole vlan network configuration. Instead of counting the revision, why they don't calculate the number of vlan record to be broadcast over the network

    • @sunnyclassroom24
      @sunnyclassroom24  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question and insight. To answer your question about "why they don't calculate the number...", I think the number of vlan is not certain as a new switch might join the network any time.

    • @igall.4845

      VTP Dynamic seeks/initiates to establish a trunk; whereas VTP Auto waits to be invited to become/join a trunk. Hope that helps.
