- I received my set of Star Wars Black Series Wave 20 from www.dorksidetoys.com/ and was so excited about opening action figures from my favorite franchise that I decided to just review the whole wave at once! Padme, Mace, Holdo, Battle Droid, Mimban Han, and Dryden Vos. Some prequel, some sequel, some Solo, oh my!

I wish they'd re-do Qui-Gon with the photo real. I wasn't a huge fan of the separate eyes either.

Yeah that’d be cool. I can’t get the figuarts because it’s not on the website I buy my figures on, so that’s my only choice for my episode 1 display.
@@edviza1935 Qui Gon Figuarts was an exclusive. If you'd want him you would have to pay aftermarket prices and he's pretty damn expensive..
Twistaz yeah that’s why I can’t get him. I have the black series now and am happy for what I got for the price, but on eBay Qui Gon is going for 200+, way more than I’m willing to pay for Qui Gon.
Battle Droids are suppose to be that tall, and you can pull on the antennas on the backpack to extend them
Honestly this whole wave is excellent. I'm not a big fan of Holdo's character but Laura Dern is awesome lol, damn you Hasbro

Damn I can’t even be mad at that holdo figure. The purple giraffe actually came out nice imo. Face is excellent, hair looks really really good, and the dress isn’t tooooo bad. I can get behind it. Maybe a custom cinch in the middle with a belt or something would make it better.

The small antenna box that can replace the backpack is a command droid antenna.

Wish we could have a Qui-Gon re-sculpt and paint, I like qui gon a lot but that head scares the shit out of me

edit : I said this because of the new prequel figures and the new paint/sculpt technology
Kind of glad there's no articulation in the fingers, making the figuarts battle droid hold his blaster is a pain in butt, that's if you don't lose the fingers outright(they pop off really easily).
Also, you forgot to actually show of the color change on Dryden's face.
That's as red as I could get Dryden's face, I literally had a bag of peas right beside the table, haha.
I can't stop messing with the Mimban Han, so fun to have a figure that can change appearance. Padme is a great to add to collection since I didn't want to overpay for SHF
Yeah, so many options, I need more of them.
SHF Mace seems more like a ROTS mace where he looks a little older and slightly more grizzled while TBS Mace looks like Mace in episode 1 where he looks noticeably younger and his face isn’t as wrinkled.
1plus0neistwo Yes, it’s because TBS Mace Windu is supposed to reflect his younger appearance in EP 1 since it’s the 20th year Anniversary of TPM.
Great review. TBS Mace Windu photo real has a much better likeness to a young Samuel L. Jackson than the Figuarts does to me. Someone recently posted in a Star Wars Facebook group, some before and after pics after using some Krylon matte finish spray to tone down the high gloss on TBS Mace Windu face, and it gave it a more Hot Toys look that got me even more excited. So I’ll definitely be doing that when I get mine. I’m also really happy about Hasbro finally releasing the battle droids, Padmé and the Mud trooper and can’t wait to get those.
I was gonna say that the main problem with the BS Mace is shiny eyebrows. Easily fixed.
I’m going to try cinching Holdo’s dress in the back with a couple of teeny safety pins. It looks better when I pinch it back with my fingers, so pinning it is my next step... if that looks good I may try hand sewing it tighter. Just a couple stitches. Anything to give it SOME shape!
I swear, they’d have been better off doing it like Moloch’s robe than what we ended up with. I’m thrilled with my Figuarts Leia and its plastic dress.

Is it me, or does the Figuarts Padme head sculpt look more like Emily VanCamp than Natalie Portman? I mean, the Black Series does get it a bit closer to Portman, while not quite getting it to where I’d like it to be. But, at least it kinda looks like her, and not another actress entirely.
Han Mudtrooper is awesome. Dare I say it very WWII German Soldier looking outfit. Will make for a killer army build. Mace likeness though steals the show. Great reviews!

Padme looks great! Excited to get that figure, the head looks way way better than the Figuarts version. It’s a shame the hips use the Y joint though :/ I doubt I’ll put her in any crazy pose beyond just standing next to the upcoming vintage Anakin, but still. Companies need to stop using that method for hips, it’s outdated and inefficient. I’d like to get Mace too! Great wave of figures, and good video Robo

Just got mine delivered from Dork Side yesterday. Really impressed with the entire wave. My Padme has a really loose elbow joint which is upsetting but a great fig none the less.

No joke, I bought 4 of the battle Droids at $60, so I can make a custom security Droid and commander Droid. Just leave the other two as infintry B1s' 😂

That Padme figure looks like she could be turned into a fantastic Jane Foster Valkyrie. Her height compared to my Endgame Thor is going to be cute as heck.

@@TheFwoosh they're about the same size as High Grade Gundam model kits. and the size is going to vary from character to character. the upcoming Megatron and Devastator model kits are going to be pretty big. but if you find a Starscream at B&N you should definitely pick one up and review it.
When you said 20th Anniversary of the Phantom Menace, my jaw dropped and and I actually said "Holy Sh&t". Has it really been 20 years? Yes it has and it makes me feel even older than I am. Anyway, not bad looking figures.
Haha, no kidding, I remember grabbing my huge Mountain Dew with a big Maul topper from Taco Bell on my way to stand in line for EPI, then immediately regretting the drink after being in that line for an hour. I even ditched work the next day. 20 years. Gah.

Have you tried a headswap for the Solo figures/heads? Would be kind of nice to do so and use a different head under the mudtrooper helmet.
They do the Y joint thing with the Vintage Collection figures too. It isn’t that much of a problem for me (because all of my poses are pretty simple in the leg area) but it is pretty annoying.
Got me a Padme and Battle Droid so far, the only one I don’t care too get is Holdo....
Cause it’s Holdo.

With all that membin gear fully in use han is looking pretty wolfenstein-ish and I like it
I think the BS Mace looks a bit younger than the SHF, but his skin tone might be a bit more accurate. Like you said though, this is very much a "take a seat, young Skywalker Mace" which coincidentally will go nicely with the SHF "taking a seat, I am" Yoda.
Now I need to find a council chair for him for when Yoda comes out.

Ha, I didnt evenpay that much attention to Dryden's outfit while watching the movie. I've got to admit it looks mighty slick. All in all, story wise Solo wasnt really all that good, but some of the costumes... Man, It did look good.

I think the backpack-less version is the commanding officer variant. OOM-9 didn't have a backpack.

I turned the Cape on padme inside out and pulled it over her face so it can be done just a lil tricky
just too many toys in such a short time..Padme and Mace are long overdue, but ironicaly with the new faceprint it was worth the wait.. like
my relief over MarvelLegends, just glad I havent collected much Black Series, giving me the budget and space for these new improved figures.
Uh-oh, this Battle Droid's going to make me broke with army-building!
With the new standard in Black Series, it has more practical articulation (ankles) than my Sideshow figures!
Awsome Action Figure review
Nice review as always, Robo. I have to disagree with you on one thing though, I think the SH Figuarts Padme looks more accurate face sculpt-wise still. I'm just glad that Hasbro improved the facial sculpt before/after the promo image release of the Black Series Padme (which looked absolutely nothing like Natalie Portman!).
Also, the antenna can be pulled out on the Battle Droid's backpack..

Hey bro great review as always...just wanted to add one missed thing that I noticed...if you pull the antenna on your battle droids back pack you see that they are actually articulated and can move up and down according to your wishes

That Holdo is going to pegwarm so hard... I can only imagine the rage of coming across that figure sitting on the pegs after the rest have sold through. Just sitting there, taunting you for missing out.
Except it won't be any different than any other line. You need some of the older Marvel Legends or TMNT? How about a Range Trooper? Why the rage here and not there?
@@TheFwoosh Oh the rage is there on those too, and I would throw Young Solo and Lando onto that grill as well. Retail needs a nationwide flush. I just see Holdo as a continuation of that very problem. Moreso in that the wave seems to be a solid one as far as character choice/army building is concerned...and then you have Holdo. She's the sore thumb.
Ah, so it's more a dislike for the character itself, because pegwarmers have been a thing since I was a kid in the late 70s. There's just some figures that don't sell. Plus, this wave has barely hit retail and I haven't seen ANY of them sitting at Target so far.
@@TheFwoosh How I feel about the character aside, I don't think it's unfair to say there's a good list of characters that would suit that spot better. Heck, even if you stuck with it being a Sequel/Disney era slot. But yes, if she does end up pegwarming she'll be in good company.

I really like the use of the wider legs on Holdo, as women typically have wider hips than men. I know it limits articulation, but how many action poses are people actually going to put her in? For display, she's a neutral pose type character, and for play, I imagine she'd just spend a lot of time in the Resistance base.

Has anyone had an issue with Mace’s lightsaber, mine seems a little thin at the joint between the blade and the hilt and seems like it’s going to break straight out of the box
