I was ready to dive into a whole wave of Hasbro Star Wars Black Series after a self-imposed dry spell so I jumped on Series 44 with Attack of the Clones Aayla Secura, Cone Wars Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi's Grand Inquisitor, along with Mandalorian Magistrate Greef Karga, Migs Mayfeld, and Axe Woves! And....I'm damn happy for the most part!

As far as I'm concerned that Grand Inquisitor is a win for for my Rebels collection. Now if only Agent Kallus shows up in a live action show.
An Agent Kallus is very much needed.
The body well not perfectly accurate can probably just be used for a rerelease with a more accurate head as an exclusive

Oh yeah, Joes is getting that treatment at some point this month, but I have a few other things in line ahead of that.
Great to hear SAF getting a shout out here. I've been getting my figs from there for years now and they're awesome. Well packaged, speedy delivery and they communicate extremely well. Always very honest about when some of the higher prices are being set by silly Hasbro demands too. They got Mara Jade up for preorder really soon after the announcement, and mentioned in big red letters that they were getting very limited quantities of her, so I got a preorder in straight away. Sure enough, she was pre-sold out the next morning. Very appreciative of SAF for being upfront about that.
You know it would be hilarious for a play day is if we had a an entire body for bill burr so we could put the Meigs Mayfield head on to make it look like he’s doing stand up
Another great mainline wave! That Maul might just be my Black Series figure of the year. I actually think it's a completely brand new sculpt. The Sith Apprentice Maul has nipples sculpted on the chest, lol. Great review of the new wave! -Justin

Only watched this video for Aayla Secura because - well - Aayla Secura. Wife asked me lastnight who I wanted more for Christmas and, sadly, I went with Zarana instead of the Aayla ebay link I sent her. Sad times indeed when you're torn between two loves lol.

If you look carefully the axe woves vest piece is actually a new sculpt! I think the needed it to be bigger to accommodate that brown apron attached to his belt but they went through the trouble of resculpting it rather than just upsizing it.
I think axe wove shoulders pads are longer than deathwatch so they may be new also

Grand Inquisitor needs a custom head, that live action make up still really bothers me, BUT the body is phenomenal.

No one cares if it bothers you. It looks fine. It’s an animated character that’s being put into live action. It looks the best it can look. Stop complaining

Aayla Secura is good for a custom KOTOR Mission Vao.
All great looking figures. Like Robo I'd prefer a Grand Inquisitor based off his Star Wars Rebels look, but this, could be another of his species.
The big relief is that Aayla Secura doesn't have Y-Jointed hips. Phew! I was gonna pass on her.
I think the shoulder pads on Axe might be new as they look longer than the death watch pads. I am still waiting for my Axe from Star Action Figures due to including some protective cases in the order.

It felt good cracking open this many Star Wars figures at one time again. My review space is an absolute mess of Black Series figures and I love it!
Had this wave for a while and I have to say these are some of my favourite figures in the black series. Especially the Maul!

Maul is the standout of this wave for me. As soon as the vintage collection figure of this appearance came out, I’ve been desperately waiting for a Black Series version
I edited out a little story time where I was standing at Celebration staring at the Vintage version, wondering if I should pick it up because it was so cool or if I should just wait for a Black Series version, however long that may take. Glad I waited!

Have watched for years and used Star action figures for longer, it's nice to hear them get a shout out on a big channel. Hope you got the same bombproof packing we get in the UK.

Oh I've been eagerly waiting for this review. This is probably the most figures I've bought from a single Black Series wave in a while.
The Grand Inquisitor figure I find to be a lot of fun, I removed the cape to give him more of a Rebels look. I can overlook the head sculpt but I hate the wrists, especially since he very much had a fencing style of fighting in Rebels (I know it's a Kenobi version but still).
Migs I think is okay, I just find the colors ugly and its overall a bit plain.
I plan on getting that Greef Karga mainly because of the likeness, I always thought the last version looked off so I skipped it. I would get Aayla but I don't have any of the other prequel Jedi currently, so she doesn't have a spot in my collection yet.
Maul though, man, I've been waiting years for this design, probably making this my most anticipated figure of the year, and they nailed it. It's easily my Black Series figure of the year, there's so much character and personality you can pull off with the poses thanks to that head sculpt and the articulation. His characterization in that series makes that design my favorite version, to me it embodies that character in their most compelling era, plus it translates better to figure form than what we got with the Episode 1 version. For me he's right next to Vader on my villains display, then flanking him are all the other prequel era villains, I just love how it turned out.
Awesome reviews! I'm really happy they're giving Force/ Saber Wielding characters the forward tilting hands; soooo much better for sword poses!

Your mention of the off colors reminds me if the discourse over the SH Figuarts Amazon Omega and Alpha. A lot people were pitching a fit over being to bright. Then a Rider crossover movie had them show up in bright shiny armor like the toys.

Finally getting a Maul with robot legs in 6 inch is the highlight of this wave. Help complete the Clone Wars and even Maul's cameo from the end of Solo. Do you think we will ever get a Qi'ra in her outfit from the Kessel Spice mine mission?

No no no, still bread and butter, just a lot more picky these days. Or frugal? Maybe both, haha.
While I am not a huge Star Wars fan, I am a fan of great looking action figures. I'm consistently impressed with the level of detail, paint and sculpt Black Series provides.
I focus mostly on Stormtroopers and bounty hunters, but if I think it's cool and it's in the budget, it ends up on my shelf. This wave reminds me of a long time Black Series want, Darth Talon. Is there a chance she might be made at some point, maybe as a fan channel exclusive? Or will she suffer the same fate as Slave Leia?
Maybe in the Publishing Program assortment?

A cool wave! I've basically made the switch to Vintage Collection, so even though this Maul is dope, I've already got the VC version which is better.
Any chance we'll be getting more Fortnite figure reviews? I'm getting really scared for the line, I don't see people talking about it, there aren't many new figures and Smyth's have stopped stocking the figures past the Bushranger wave, I've a bad feeling we'll never see the Seven Collection completed 😭

The Chest overlay on Axe is new too I don't know why they didn't make the entire torso overlay accurate
we have seen some temperature reactive stuff before in the black series (C3po from the babu frik pack and Dryden Vos) maybe you could try to use ice or warmth on the grand inquisitor's face? see if his eyes react to it? I dont have him yet or else I would have tried it already..
Hey Robo, what is the Matte spray you use? Since Im getting most of this wave I need something to fix the shiny faces.
I used Testors Dullcote for years, recently switched to Mr. Hobby Matte Spray. Both work good.

19:36 I know this is such a nitpick but I think the peg holding the 2 halves of the saber should’ve been on the other hilt. A lotta people are gonna be displaying him holding just the single end of that original hilt and it would be nice it there wasn’t a peg on it. That’s a nitpick though

Is axe from rebels? Is the grand inquisitor a rebels series figure? I could really use the help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Axe Woves actually has a slightly different torso armor overlay than the deathwatch mandalorian. The differences are small but you can see Axe's torso overlay is a bit bigger in comparison to deathwatch
Huh, that's crazy. Really, it's just the epaulets set slightly further back and the wrinkles on the undershirt sculpted different. No reason to do that but they did, I totally missed that. Thanks for the heads up!
@@TheFwoosh Right!? It took me by surprise that hasbro would pass up an easy reuse opportunity to sculpt a more accurate overlay. Really shows how much more money goes into mainline releases compared to exclusives. Also thanks for the reply Robo, you're by far the best reviewer on youtube!

I think the textures are right, just the colors making it look all wrong.
I really wish Aayla had the updated arms of Legends females. She could get in some incredible lightsaber poses if she did. Also, for today's prices, they can afford it.
Star Wars doesn't do double elbows though. If they had just made the trench longer like on Grand Inquisitor it would have more movement.

one of the only things I dont get is why Hasbro opted to give Maul his cartoon looking legs instead of the legs in Solo, which by it's inclusion on the Rebels Darth Maul skin in Battlefront 2, is what the legs in live action should look like I guess, it's not a biggie for me, its just odd haha, cause well, make the solo legs once and you can re-use em for Rebels and Solo Maul figures in the future, the future of 2040 probably haha
At last ! The Migs Mayfeld I wanted! And I think Everyone wanted!!! The marketing of Hasbro think on LOnnng terms! Because they give us a first Migs Tankdriver (Morak) everyone wants a Bill Burr ! Easy reused, new head! 1 year later Hasbro give us the "real" Migs Mayfeld everyone wants! And later in the next wave a Mando Tankdriver Morak so that everyone who bought the first Migs need this Mando to recreate that scene .... Ouf!
Have the Darth Maul lower legs been used before? Like on Zero or something.
Definitely don't match Zero. I don't recognize them from anywhere else, but then again I'm not the greatest at picking that out anymore. So many figures, so many years.

id have gotten the GI if he was based on Rebels tbh.
the Kenobi version just looked so awkward, idk. everyone memed on the head but imo the lack of the longer collar/neck throws it off even more, not to memtion the proportions of the armor. i feel like the chestplate and shoulderpads being as large as they are throw the look of the Pau'an species off even further. although on the figure it's not *as bad* as in the show to be fair.
this one seems fine for those who didnt mind how Kenobi changed the look, but if you're into alien accuracy this seems like an easy pass unfortunately. even more so if you dont like costume redesigns I guess. kinda wish wed have gotten him in the style of the other rebels characters instead, but tough luck I suppose.
The Maul lightsabre is about 1" too long. It would look better if the hilts were 0.5" shorter and each blade was 0.25" shorter.
Yeah, I think that's kind of what I was getting at, just seems a bit big.
I think the Inquisitor armour is designed to block lightsabers.
I got my maul from staraction figs. It costs 20 usd to ship aka double the total after tax for the fig. It will say its ₤19.99 but thats 25 or 24.99$ my total was 49.71 but they shipped it fast. If u buy more then 1 fig not sure if its just the service 20 dollar fee for 1 item or all. But if its a fig u really want. It's worth it. Ive been looking for maul for months. Its been out awhile in the uk. If u think 49.71 is too much for a blackseries not available til feb 23 in u.s they are going for 80 to 100 usd on mercari and ebay

For some reason when I get the " armed asshole" he is gonna get a soft goods trench. 1 to hide the torso colors that don't match the show and lack on the back. But can you picture it...walking down the hallway, trench a flapping in the breeze and then oh gawd he's got lazers!! Pew pew pew lol
