- If you thought about buying or using Gopro Hero 10 as a webcam, think again. This video demonstrates connectivity issue with Hero 10 that Hero 8 doesn't have.

I have the same issue as well, I had to but an elgato cam link, even with that it's still not optimal
Literally just remove the battery, put it back in, power on and finally connect. Worked for me :)

Have you been able to make it work? I'm running firmware HERO10 Black v1.50 December 14, 2022 and it is still not working :(
Blue point is displayed when I connect the camera to USB but then I always get "Camera Connection Error" after a few seconds.
Upgrade to GoPro Webcam driver 1.2.2.867 on Windows.

Hey! I see its been a long time since you made this video, dont know if this problem was solved or not. I had not the same issue, but was strugling to make my hero 10 work as webcam too. My problem was the camera was showing it was conected to my mac, but in fact when I went to the software where it was suposed to work, it showed the go pro logo, not the webcam image. It just worked when I took off batery and conected again. After that it conected and worked as webcam, although in my opinion go pro system is not reliable at all. Every new attemp to conect the webcam can result in conection problems. Hope this helps!
I've upgraded to Gopro 11 and no more problems after Gopro ALSO released an update to the webcam software/driver.
Same problem here with MacBook Pro. And when you try to preview, a window pops up and close by itself immediately. I spent several hours with them by phone and they don't know how to solve it. :/

Can confirm like you and others, still does not work on Windows 11.

HOWEVER!
Works on Windows 10 through the Webcam app.
Patched the video feed through:
- Cheap USB C cable into USB 3.0 dock
- No external power connected to the dock
- External HDMI working through the dock
- Yeti X working through the dock
- Aux Out to studio headphones through the dock
- 7 year old laptop, selected Intel Graphics in the GoPro Webcam Preferences (I won’t mention ram or gpu)
- All modes work, but I prefer linear
Latency, maybe about 0.5s on linear, but it looks good at least.
We’ll just have to wait till GoPro/Microsoft fixes this bug on W11. Otherwise, best to stick with W10 for now.

I can't select Intel Graphics, I just don't have this options :( It would be my last try.
From its release, the Hero 10 has been a problem. My Hero 9 works perfectly as a webcam, yet the later model struggles and still has overheating problems…

There’s no easy answer but there is a way to use it as a webcam if u use a capture card and the media mod with the hdmi output
Penny saved, pound foolish. Hero 8 is cheaper than 10 and works just as good in a webcam setting.

I fixed the camera connection error by repairing the drivers
The GoPro 10 only last for about 1/2 an hour in web cam mode
That's terrible, but at least yours seem to be working. I can't even get my Hero 10 to work. However, Hero 8 works fine without overheating (without battery).
@@udtrader Yeah the 10 works without the battery too but it still heats up
@@TheAngryPrepper same issue with the 6 wouldn’t last for more than 20-30 minutes and would get extremely hot

Hero 8 connected via USB-C without battery doesn't shutdown. I use the Ulanzi battery cover to keep dust out. amzn.to/3sjHWEp

First Reset to factory> Ensure you have an SD card inserted>Download Quik to your phone>Allow phone to find GoPro>Download Mac GoPro Utility> Plug USB-C into Mac or Mac Docking station> Open GoPro Utility on Mac>Plug into GoPro> A Blue light should be visible on GoPro Utility icon. Take care.
Hey, I have an UPDATE! I have watched the video, read all the comments. I have tried myself and I have concluded that IT DOES NOT WORK! Frustrating, huh? Now, I guess I'll be buying a webcam also. When I bought the Hero 10, I thought to myself...Self, you can use as a webcam, as a dashcam and blah blah blah. No...sorry. It works for an action cam. Yes..I'm a bit disappointed but still it's a nice little camera. I'm just not happy with it's performance for OTHER uses. That's ok.
I use Hero 8 as my webcam. It's much cheaper for similar video quality.
@@udtrader I ended up buying a webcam. Logitech C920s. Works nicely. I like the software they include for camera settings when on Zoom calls, etc.

In my case it was working perfecty, this morning I update the pc to windows 11 and now crash. I think the problem is here: the software of GoPro is not still updated to work with windows 11
Hero 8 works perfectly on Windows 11, but Hero 10 is still a problem even today. I know what the issue is, but haven't made the time to troubleshoot in more detail. I'll share once I find a workaround unless Gopro fixes it first.

@@olbiaracingteam1430 I have WIn 10 Pro and it gives me the same problem, it asks me to go from MTP mode to Gopro connect wich is not available on Hero10
I think the issue with mine is just the cable cuz it just keeps saying usb connected and then not and again
I had to manually add it to my anti virus software. Even though it worked just fine previously. So far so good.
