Hey guys just a little tip. If anyone is trying to connect the gopro to your phone make sure it is set to mtp and that wireless connection is on. Otherwise you will be unable to connect the 2 devices and wont allow media sharing or preview of video:) Hope this helps!
Even 3 years later this video is still relevant. I was having issues with my gopro 9 overheating due to the battery left inside while in webcam mode. Took the battery out and found it had a new issue: the USB C plug I was using was not the gopro issued one so the camera wouldn't work while battery was out of camera. Silly me thinking I could use ANY old plug for this camera lol. Thanks for the video and I hope my comment helps someone else in need.

Dude! Thank you so much for connecting the dots for me. I thought i was going crazy when I didn’t see the app icon appear on my desktop ( like the Quik app does).
Your video did not solve my problem but gave me a clue to check the idea. If all the other methods and tricks did not solve the problem, try (specially if you do have a rather old desktop machine) this: 1. Plug your wire into USB 3.0, not USB 2.0; 2. Use your GoPro WITH the accu installed!!; 3. Don't use USB hubs, they nick the power. Quite often your GoPro needs more energy than USB2 could supply and this cause the problems.
I was about to ship mine back. Thanks. I love the step-by-step, and showing the several most common issues, and the things that are even less obvious in detail. GoPro gives zero instructions on this. You, da man!

Hey man, I just got the 10 and it just says to try and reconnect, I don’t even get a preview it’s a black screen then it turns off. I’m using the original gopro cable and everything. I’m on a windows 11 laptop

Thank you so much for getting me this far! I am using about the same setup and pc you are using. I think my problem is I am trying to use the usb connector that came with the camera. When I plug in the camera all I see on the camera is USB Connected and Goproconnect. It then doesn't allow me to make any changes on the camera itself. When I right click on the app and try to preview the pop up window appears but is blank. Is there a special usb cable I need to use? Thanks so much Cheri

My GoPro Hero 9 Black webcam mode pixelates in Preview mode and in any program. GoPro support suggests creating an offline account on Win10 and hey presto it works fine. Shame everything in on my main profile
Mine used to work perfectly till today. Then all of sudden it is behaving strange. As soon as I click preview in GP Webcam app on Win 10, GP starts recording video, then after a few seconds it stops recording and it continues over and over again. I tried reinstalling the GP firmware, GP webcam app but nothing works. Any ideas?
Using the gopro webcam application on Microsoft Teams or Discord causes them to crash as I turn on the webcam on them. I've already checked everything on the gopro and in the gopro webcam application and I can see the preview fine
Worked enough to preview myself but then kept kicking me off the graphics processor... This happens within seconds once I start OBS (Even if I open all as administrator) if I decide not to run OBS I can preview myself, but I didnt buy this camera to look at myself.. I bought it for streaming. Guess I'll have to return it and get a DSLR. Far more hassle than it shouldve been, Windows isnt a NEW thing.
This doesn't work with my HERO4. Only available options in the GoPro Webcam app are Preferences, About, and Exit. The camera's firmware is already up-to-date, and I can't update the drivers because the goddamn Quik for Desktop app won't install.
Ahhh! I don't have an intel graphics card, only a 3060 TI. Dang. There is no way to get it to work with a NVDIA graphics card that you are aware of? Anyways! I subscribed!
The GoPro webcam app seems not a certified windows app, had it installed anyway, and restarting the laptop, the screen remained black and windows were not started, When finally hours later the laptop (SSD and i5 processor) did start, and the GoPro, not as webcam worked, I had uninstalled the GoPro webcam app, but was left with long time bootup problems now.

Same issue, I don't have integrated graphics available so stuck on this one. Annoyingly it worked a while back but had to update the graphics drivers to fix something else.
Every time I try to switch my graphics processor to Intel from NVidia, it keep automatically switching back to NVidia so now I get a black screen with green strip down the middle and still no video preview. Any ideas????

The DL is for Mac there isn't one for Windows, not anymore any way. I have no idea how a Windows user can use this.
