  • Is the Glock G26 GEN5 even worth considering anymore? With many of the newer sub-compact pistols on the market, will the Glock G26 face obscurity?

I disagree. I can pocket carry the P365 where with the G26 I couldn’t. Excellent little gun, and the ability of it to take mags from its larger brothers a real plus. But for me, the P365 is far superior.

I left my 10 rnd pinkyless mags in the case and purchased 12 rnd mags w/ the pinky extension but mostly carry w/ a g19 mag w/ an x-grip spacer (G26x?). Turns out the height w/ the 15rnd mag is the same as my Sig P239. I'm a classic Sig fan but returned to glock recently as it's nice to be able to use my early 90's Gen2 G17 mags in my Gen5 G26 at the range. Also, my previous favorite Sig P239 is no longer supported w/ parts by SIG so here I am w/ a Gen5 G26 on my side.

Thanks for watching and commenting. I purchased a P239 before they were discontinued by Sig. It is one fine handgun. Unfortunately, it is a now a safe queen for the reason you mentioned. I carry a G48 when I want to go light. Otherwise, and if I carry a "9", the G45 is my choice. I still favor my 1911s and try to carry one whenever I feel up to it. I have more gun reviews in the mill, and some of them will be for the 1911 of one kind or another.

I have the G27 Gen 5 with the front serrations, I carry it in the winter because it's a bit too chunky for me in the summer for appendix. Plus, there's so many better options for that. Personally, I rotate a hellcat and a shield 2.0 in the summer

Thanks for watching. I agree that the G26 (G27, G36, and G29) is a chunky thing. I have no desire to fire a 10mm round through the G29 after firing a 40 S&W rounds through the G27. I do have a G36, and it's really not that bad to shoot. I like the Hellcat series. I have the Hellcat Pro (see my review on it - th-cam.com/video/XYKFG_ExuOc/w-d-xo.html) and I will be getting the Hellcat as soon as I can afford one.

While so many people add all the extras to their tools, outside of changing my sights, i’ll be running my G26 stock. I don’t need or want all the extras on all of my tools. The DLC finish on the barrel will show wear more quickly on the barrel in high contact areas. SIGs were known to have the “SIG smile” on barrels, which were bright silver wear marks on the barrel. The same is now true for the DLC finished GLOCK barrels. It happens relatively early in use, but doesn’t get much worse over time. I had a G17 Gen 5 with 67k rounds through it. The wear showed relatively early (less than 2000 rounds), but looked relatively the same thereafter. The slide stop also turned sliver as the black finish on it wasn’t robust, but it doesn’t matter because it’s a cheap part and they seem rust resistant.

Good to hear from you, and it's good to hear that the G26 is still popular.

With the subcompact lines available today, the Gen 5 G26 is in a class all its own. Knowing the limits of its size, as well as the length of its barrel, one is less likely to miss use it. For CCW, this pistol has few equals.

The G stands for GLock. Stop calling it a Glock G26. That's just redundant.

Thanks for watching and your comment. Does it really matter, in the long run, if the 26 is called the G26 or Glock 26 or Glock G26? 'G' is part of the model number, but could stand for 'Gun' for all I know. What is the FM 78 and FM 81k? You would have no idea, unless I put 'Glock' in front of them. If I am listing a series of Glock pistols, I don't place Glock for each model; they are simply G26, G17, G23, etc. Have you noticed that I am pretty redundant in my presentations? They all pretty much follow the same pattern: Opener, Introduction, Specifications, Features, Maintenance, Range, Carry and Conceal, and a Summary. Sometimes, I may even throw in a Back Story just to break up the redundant redundancy. If I wanted to be formal, I could label the Glock pistols as the Glock two six or Glock one seven, as is the correct way to name a Porsche automobile. A Porsche 911, for example, is called a 'Nine-One-One. A Porshe 718 is the 'Seven-One-Eight' and not seven-eighteen.
Of all the things I must concern myself about when producing my review videos, being slightly redundant at times is not one of them. I apologize if my comment to your comment offends you, but I have not had my second cup of coffee yet.😊
