I’m a BMW “fanboy” and I’m driving the iX for several weeks now but I absolutely agree with your remarks. This car is not BMW worthy. The materials that haven been chosen and the OS8 both are lacking quality.
The car costs around €110k. For that price you’d expect more quality.
Electric adjustable steering wheel with one button is available at BMW since at least 15 years now. Stopping car completely when leaving the car available since start/stop button is there. Might not be as good as a 5series interior but miles better than any Tesla interior I saw so far.

"Finally BMW got the premium button to adjust the steering wheel". I got this in my BMW e61 from 2009. But gotta say im not sure its just a joke or not.
Its a rarely specced option in some Bmw models and could be possible that Bjorn hasnt seen one in Bmw because of the rarity of that option.

Leave the key in the car while you wash it, the car will not open the trunk or lock the car while the key is inside the car.

Those floor vents are going to be fun to keep clean. Still cannot excuse BMW not using any of that massive front end for storage. I would love to see one opened to expose what is really in all that space. Not a fan of the seat memory controls being on the door however I do understand the purpose so that the seat adjusts before you get into it.
Front storage is one of those things that seem like a good idea, but is practically never used by majority of people. I opened it once about 2 years back on mt e-tron to see what it looked like and haven't had any reason to open it again. The same goes for all my friends and colleagues.

The space in the middle between the driver and passenger's footwells is perfect if you have a dog that's snoozing in the passenger footwell - gives them extra room. :)

As a jet wash opened the boot, I'm guessing an automatic car wash could be a bit of a nightmare. Similarly, would driving through deep water (or even deep snow) cause the boot to open?
I'm pretty sure if the car is powered on, with someone in the drivers seat, the kick to open is disabled. It is only a problem when the car is off, and then you spray water under the rear bumper, that might activate the back gate opening.

I am considering getting BMW iX 50🤔. I appreciate your review. You focused on many little things that other reviewers ignore. It is a nice SUV-BEV. There are many, many Teslas everywhere here in Los Angeles. I like BMW iX 50, although the price is high. With that said, I like your comments about the seats a flat seat for fat Americans. You made me laugh🤣. But are they comfortable and soft for long hours of driving? Los Angeles has the worst traffic in the US. You spend an enormous amount of time inside a car every day. Now I will watch your night-driving video review footage. Thank you.

Hi Bjorn. Could you make a video Series about the under the car … i think that is the most unseen Part of these electric Cars on the TH-cam! The undercarriage pays a big Part in efficiency. Battery protection. Aerodinamics!

@@bjornnyland not clumsy, I think about my actions and I am not critical of sensible solutions! This happens with my Enyaq open and closes the doors when water washes over the door handles because the key is in my pocket.
@@bjornnyland When you wash BMWs you need to leave the FOB/Key inside the vehicle, then the trunk will not open when the water hits the kick sensor.
If you leave the key inside the car, then how can you open the car again? Isn't it risky?@@RamTH-cam1

I love the wide open space in front. It’s the same as all big vans and family cars.

With the lift gate opening, I had a similar experience but also a cat run under the car driveway and the lift gate opened. Nice review, I will be taking the i4 out for a test in the spring.

That metal tool is used to screw into a part into the front and rear aprons and you put a rope through them somebody can tow you if you get stuck.

Im looking at youtube about Tesla that have a few years and mileage and it’s a total yoke!
But it is understandable because Tesla don’t have som many years from experience to build cars.
They will get better but they’re many years still left. Tesla are very good at software no question about but the quality is still poor.

Bjorn, the plasticky look and feel of the steering wheel controls combined with the poor ergonomics stuck out like a sore thumb to me when I had a test drive. .... some people probably wouldn't notice or care about this but to me it does not say this is a quality €100,000 vehicle. Was most dissapointing. Look at how Maserati or Porsche do it. By the way, why do none of the modern vehicles have a joystick type control for cruise like on my Cayenne? They all have a thumb operated speed control nowadays and I just do not like them considering I use adaptive cruise all the time. That's progress (not) I suppose....
Such a shame its so ugly. BMW could have made something really special, sleek and beautful since an upper grille isnt even needed. Instead they chose bold, ostentatious and ugly.
I found the iX interior to be lacking something. Some of the materials are not really good enough for a car that can be as much as £120,000 here in the U.K.

last week i went to a BMW dealer to try some cars for fun. I felt like the quality of the interior was less than the x7/x5. Especially the seats are awful, compared to the ICE cars. I have no clue why they cut costs in the seats. This car cost around 100.000 euro?
The are not cutting cost as much as weight! The good old comfort seats are very heavy and very good!
