    Great video, Matt. Keep up the good work and content!
    Been living in Lanco since '98. I'm in sales and for the past 12 years have covered Philly to Memphis down to Savannah, GA. Lots of great cities in that region but what Lancaster has to offer is the best of all those good cities. (pre-Covid analysis here). Lancaster has the food and booze of Charlotte, the music talent-live music of Nashville, heritage, and history-tourism like SE Virginia. As much as I romanticize about moving to another city more central to my territory, I love the variety Lancaster offers with outdoor life, cost of living, travel, food/booze, and entertainment.
    Those spitting venom in this comment section are ones who barely if at all, travel out of the area in order to grow an openness and appreciation for what Lancaster County has to offer.
    All the best!

    I’ve lived in Lancaster county for 25 years and it’s a great place to raise a family. Pre pandemic during the summer had a lot going on such as concerts in Longs Park. We have First Friday which helps you get to know the city. Great health care with a local state of the art cancer center.
    Last but not least great grocery stores with lots of local products in the summer.

    Just wanted to drop a few cents in: Im originally from NJ area, and have lived in California for nearly 40 years. Everything, .... everything is relative. Those complaining about higher taxes .... yes they are high .... but relative to? In California we are taxed through the nose and trust me, the quality of life, quaint colonial towns, 4 seasons, great medical access of what I see in these videos..... is light years ahead of what my county, Monterey County; offers. For me, its an upgrade of lifestyle and comfort and more bang for my buck, -or amenities for my taxes-, however you wish to look at it. Things are a matter of degrees and compromise. If I can't find what i want at 200k in my desired part of Lancaster, then i will take a few steps in the outer towns and compromise. As long as i have the access to the area, to me that is just as good. Everything is a risk-reward matrix. Lastly, I appreciate Matt's videos. We went from being completely lost in our search in 4 states, to zeroing in here, which is a sweet spot of location, proximity to family and infrastructure.

    Matt, my parents lived in Landis Farms just north of the city from 1960-66. They then moved to northern DE for a much better job in 1966 and that's where I grew up. But both their parents are from the area (Mom-Millersville, Dad-Reading, Grad of F&M) and we came back often. Really like your videos and glad to see that Lancaster is generally prospering and is now more cosmopolitan in the 2020's. There is a lot of good there, especially in the outdoor rec area, as you cover. I push back on one minor area on your assessment of a moderate cost of living argument. I live in metro Boston. Of course the cost of housing is high. But wages are correspondingly high. Almost everything else is at a nationwide price. We all basically pay the same for gas, consumer goods, utilities and travel across the whole country and world. So I would argue that though I pay a lot for my house, I earn more here and most of my other costs are the same - and I have a lot more funds for them. Just food for thought. I think Lancaster and metro Boston actually have a far amount in common, much more than somewhere in the south or west.

      No it hasn't. You sound like a tourist because if you knew anything about this city you'd realize to rent an apartment is upwards of $1,000 and owning a home would be more expensive. You're forgetting to mention that we have scummy landlords selling underwhelming houses and apartments. Any piece of real estate you find for a decent price is going to have something wrong with it. As for entertainment, no one wants to go to a theatre every night. We are a tourist trap where people get sucked in because we have a couple malls and food places downtown. What they fail to realize is it gets old and boring

    • @bethanyg1029
      @bethanyg1029 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@victoriadorazio1444 you know what, you're probably right. A lot of my experiences have been living in Lancaster County, not the city. From the outside looking in, the city has changed a lot. But I can definitely understand that my perspective may not be 100% correct since I haven't lived in the city. There definitely is more to do in larger cities, like Philadelphia, but I think I probably have just gotten used to the pace of it here. People do need to think about these things before they move here! Hope you have good day, Victoria.

    Hi Matt! Thanks for making this video. My partner and I live in Chester County and we are considering moving to Lancaster City, mainly because we will be buying our first home and we find better options (for what we can afford) in Lancaster County. However, we don't know the city very well. What do you think are the nicer, safer and/or quieter areas within the city? (including areas that are up to a 15 minute walk to the central market, to give you an idea of what I'm thinking as "city")

    • @LancasterLiving

      Love the areas near F&M college for quiet and walkability! Also on the E/NE side of town for amenities and things to do (near Cork Factory is a nice area!). More downtown, near Chestnut St is close to everything, and really the closer you are to the heart of downtown (Penn Square), the more popular it becomes :)

    I lived in rural Lancaster for five years in a small mostly Amish and Mennonite village. There were many positive things about my time there but the deal breaker was the oppressive humidity. In the summer it was like being drugged it was so humid. I'd take a shower in the morning and I swear I never dried off all day long. As a result mildew and fungus grew on everything. And most of my neighbors made less than $15 per hour.
    I now live on a mountain is Colorado. I much prefer the sunshine, warm dry climate, and the economy is much better although housing prices are high right now. If you're thinking of moving to Lancaster, visit Colorado before you make your decision.

      Welcome to the area! A little advice: if searching for apartments, use Zillow Rentals page! Honestly, I don't see many rental options in the MLS system, but many people who are listing their apartments or homes for rent are putting it on Zillow first.
