Great job describing Lancaster County Pa. I live right here outside of Ephrata, Pa. in the heart of the Amish community. They are a group of people that I look up to because of their religious beliefs and their work ethics. You did a great job and I appreciate sharing your journey with us.
It’s funny telling people from outside of Pa you live in Lancaster (we do) because they think it’s all farm land surrounded by Amish people. Which it’s not.
I’m a semi truck driver and made my first delivery to an Amish community. It was a fascinating experience. First time I have interacted with the Amish. And now I am in my trucks sleeper cab watching TH-cam video on the Amish.
Thanks for the tour of Lancaster county! I’ve lived in the county for about 70 years and you pointed out a few places I never visited like the pretzel stand. From my experience with the Amish, I find them honest, hard working and loyal people. They live and work with the “English” society but maintain a barrier so as to preserve their simple life. Good people.
We're from the Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania area. In the summer time months, My husband and I vacation in Lancaster all the time . We have some quilts and most of our furniture is made by the Amish. Love this video ❣
I live about an hour from Lancaster here in Pennsylvania. I take my children down that way often. I find it very peaceful and calming. Almost like a second home 🏡 And most of the folks are so kind and welcoming.
Good day Lea. Always nice to share a wonderful moment of your trip on the East Coast every Thursday. Thanks for exposing us to Lancaster county and their great Amish community. Looking forward to next week...🙂🥨🏍
Very interesting Trip. I love the Amish people, and great Respect to their horses who take them everywhere. Their life style is very obedient to God, which has my great Admiration...eventhough it is not always easy compared to European lifestyle.
I’ve been to the Amish communities in Missouri and Illinois. They’re a wonderful people and they really know how to bake and cook! Thanks Lea for taking us along. 😊
As a Pennsylvania native, I enjoyed your video very much. I have been to several places along your route. Made me feel good to see home. The food is definitely delicious all across Amish country and PA! Thanks!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR AN ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL TOUR. I have read many books on The Amish, watched movies and highly respect their culture. This was just a great video. Your filming is just beautiful.

Great touring info., thanks for this educational journey. 👍🕊️ I have wanted to see this particular place for so many years yet I couldn't make it far beyond an Amish market in Germantown, Maryland. I'm glad that you included animal life with human culture in this tour.
I was born, raised and still reside in Pennsylvania, about an hour and a half from Lancaster. Have been there several times including this past weekend. Where I live is also within an Amish Community with many of my neighbors being Amish and great friends.
Where exactly do you live I was born and raised about an hour and a half from Lancaster also I lived in Bucks County Pennsylvania but there is now in Bristol Pennsylvania wonderful Amish market that I visit every time I go back North
I love this episode!! We know a couple who live in Lancaster County, who were once in the Air Force with us. They left the Air Force after one enlistment and settled there in Lancaster County.....and started having babies!!! I'm not sure how many but at least 6 or 7....or more! Such a sweet couple, who are actually Mormon and not Amish. That part of Pennsylvania reminds me A LOT of the Rheinland Pfalz area of Germany....where I spent almost half of my Air Force career. It's no wonder why I love both places so much.......so beautiful.
Amish is pronounced -Ahh Mish ( like High German A )- Lancaster City is the oldest inland city in the US - The Cloister was known for it Fractur writing they made many Bibles and books - they use High German in their Sunday services which are held everywhere Sunday - off Sundays are for visiting family -
The 1985 movie, Witness, is set mainly in Lancaster County Amish country and on an Amish farm. It stars Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis. The movie is currently available for free on You Tube. I've already watched it a few times.
The Amish have had it right all along. Their communities are so close. Meanwhile it feels like our society on the outside is falling apart more and more each day.
Thanks for the interesting video about the Pennsylvania Amish. I’m glad I stumbled upon this video to see a fellow German on a motorcycle explaining the Amish lifestyle. We have an Amish community 10 minutes from where I live in Maryland but it not as famous as the one in Lancaster. You now have a new follower. Jürgen Smith

Lea you did a great job explaining the Amish lifestyle in a respectful way. Many want to photograph them and that is not what they want. It is a very interesting life. I have Amish as well as Mennonite people living close to me in east KY. They make wonderful foods and are supplied by their own companies which are generally located in Lancaster Co. Simply life rules. I also encountered many in an area just south of Washington DC. Literally you could turn off the 6 lane and go back in time a 150 yrs. on the Amish farms. Several hundred thousand people live around there but you would never know they exist if not for making the turn. I can in at night and there were no houses for miles. Until daylight as they don't use electricity. Well your next ride is into some beautiful parts of our homeland. The lakes region of NY state is fabulous. Breathtaking scenery. As much as the simple life rules in PA. the bug net does the same up there. Man it can be tough. Thick clothes that the black flies and the no-see-um's can't bite through are a must. You better have all your gear on when you come out of the tent as you will be ate alive. It's just part of it all the way to the top. Can't wait for more. Thanks
I grew up very near Lancaster, PA. I love going there. My mother did a lot of shopping in Lancaster. So many great places. ❤😊 I went by many horse and buggies on my way to and from school daily. So many great memories. Currently live in Charleston, WV area.

I stumbled upon this last night and I had to subscribe. A lot of the riding sequences are on roads that I ride to work and back every day. A sizeable percentage of my customers are Amish. You have done really well describing the Amish and have a better grasp of who they are than many residents of Lancaster County.
I’m from PA, grew up near this place. This makes me happy to see. They don’t know how to react when outsiders come in speaking German. Beautiful part of the country.
Spent much time in this area. The city market in Lancaster is awesome. I had a dear friend who lived in Columbia and was able to tour many sites there.
Ciao and thank you for your very nice documentary Video, which i like to share at Facebook.. i wish you all a blessed and Happy new year 2024, many greetings from brunswick in germany and please stay safe 🙃
I live in Gettysburg, PA (which I see you stopped in!) so I am very close to Lancaster. There are some really great places to visit and enjoy. I guess we are attracted because it’s a very different “way” of life. I have to say I generally think “quality” when I think of Amish made goods/products/services. We also have a pretty large Mennonite community too!
I am blessed to have moved from Los Angeles to east central Indiana and can patronize Amish owned businesses here locally. I have a deep respect and admiration for these fine people, and I enjoy being in their company as often as I can.
Did I mention I'm from the Greater Lehigh Valley Allentown Bethlehem and Easton Pennsylvania! There's a lot of history here! We're between Philadelphia and New York City , we're an hour away from either city , stop in and visit we got a lot of culture!
I appreciate the Amish because without them we would not have food. They work hard so that we will have what we need, thank you very much for all the hard work you do.
Thank you for this video, I live in Maryland, and I was really starting to wonder what the Amish community is like. I was eventually thinking to transfer to Amish, if they would allow it, but That would be a huge change! I will probably stay English. But thank you for this video. Very educating! 😊
I just returned from Lancaster,Pennsylvania and really wanted to learn about Amish history It was a beautiful trip and i would love to go back soon. Im very thankful i seen this video.
Thanks Lea for shering. Interesting with the Amish people. I do realy think they are nice people with a small difrent way of life. How ever a fine video. Keep rolling.
When I visited America for a shopping holiday, I really liked Auntie Anne's pretzels and now I know where they came from [wiki confirms, founder was born into an amish family in Lancaster county too], they smelled so wonderful to walk by too though I am sure the Amish make them better than a shopping centre shop, lol. I like the simpler salty chewier pretzels too, but i love sour cream and onion and could not believe you were not overwhelmed by adding mustard to it. Rather like using Salsa with a cheesy dorito, superfluous at best.
I just found your channel and love it ! I went to Germany, Austria, Switzerland on my honeymoon! Some of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Went from Munich to Bertsch Garden to Garmisch to Innsbrook to Lake Seelisberg to the Black Forest. Amazing ! Thank you for the journey, you are good !! Be safe 😄
Hello Lea, I follow your channel almost religiously, but I think this is the first time I've commented. I was in Ohio visiting my sister a couple of weeks ago, and saw evidence of the fascinating amish community and lifestyle, which I found really interesting, so I thank you sincerely for this particular episode. My channel is something of a fledgling channel, and if I'm honest, if I was to name my role models, it'd be yourself and Pavlin of Motorcycle Adventures. I learn a lot from yourselves, for which I'm grateful. I look forward to your future videos, so keep up the good work. 👍😎
Thank you for a great video. We go to Lancaster yearly and never miss a chance to go to the Countryside Road Stand. The root beer is so good. Thanks for showing me a new place. The GreenDragon Market will be on our to do list next time we go.
Country markets in Lancaster have their day of the week. Root's Market is Tuesday and is just North of E. Petersburg off Rt 72. Friday is the Green Dragon Market just North of Ephrata. Saturday is Lancaster Central Market in downtown. Anyone in town can direct you to just off the North side of the square.
Lea, I really enjoyed your visit to the Amish community, it was most interesting, and your dedication in trying all those sweet treats on our behalf ha-ha. Mind you I don't know how those people in the cloisters survived on one small vegetarian meal a day, they must have been mighty thin or cheated a little, maybe. Don't think the Amish life is for me, but I can really understand it. Thank you.
When you have posted the video about Amish people, some how make me remember a movie made in 2004 if I'm not wrong, called :"The Village". That approach are very interesting in many points of view... Mostly is a small stopped in time, even in the journey, well done and tasty to(the food, of course😋). Stay well!... ( )
Great video of the Amish Lifestyle! My wife and I are fans of the Amish and visit there atleast once a month. We go to the Green Dragon like you did. We'll normally get the homemade cinnamon rolls with that icing we also get donuts too. Everyone we've ever met there are so nice and very thankful that we've bought anything they've made. Thanks again for sharing this video with us along with your PRICELESS time and effort! Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA.
Just came across your channel. We live in southern end of Lancaster County and are surrounded by many Amish neighbors. We find them to be very kind, hard working, caring people and boy can they cook and bake! Root's market is another big market in Manheim with lots of good food. My husband's family originated in Bavaria 3 generations back!
Great video! You got a wonderful shot of our yarn store in the center of town around 5:22! The Speckled Sheep. You definitely many of our favorite spots in the area!
Very interesting insight into the Amish culture! I should totally get off my bike more often. 😂 I did a similar ride a little bit west of there with a lot of Amish communities. If you like some wildlife in your riding as well it was called the 'elk country scenic drive.' A 130-mile loop centered around Benezette PA. A decade ago PA brought in a few Rocky Mountain elk and they've since grown to a herd of 10,000+ in the state forests and game lands. I went in early October and the bulls were screaming and bugling...which was worth it but it gets a little bit crowded and touristy during the rut.
We always enjoyed visiting the Lancaster area and always ate at Dienner's restaurant. Looks like you were traveling through Intercourse too. We purchased hand made brooms and several quilts over the years as well.
Lea This was a Wonderful video Lady! Amish country is fabulous and the people are are friendly and very helpful. I love the history and how these folk bond together in their communities. We have all the latest high tech everything but the stick with the lowest tech. In some ways they have a LOT less stressful lives. I respect everything about them. You get many more Roses and vases for such a great video Lady! Only you could do a video like this. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🏆🏆 Ride SAFE and BE safe Lea! 🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏🤙🖖✌👌👍👋🙂
I visited an Amish school once. They don't believe in individuality. The artwork for a fall tree with colored leaves hanging on the wall was all the same. The teacher must have said paste the yellow leaf here and the read leaf there. My 4th graders would have had their own designs and made much more interesting pictures.

First time to watch your video and I find it very interesting about Amish people 👍🏿🌹🍀Good luck for your next adventures and Servus from Vienna 🇦🇹
Lea, I really enjoyed your visit to the Amish community, it was most interesting, and your dedication in trying all those sweet treats on our behalf ha-ha. Mind you I don't know how those people in the cloisters survived on one small vegetarian meal a day, they must have been mighty thin or cheated a little,
maybe.
Oh my God beautiful and peaceful place, the Amish Comunity is a blessing
Great video of the Amish Lifestyle! My wife and I are fans of the Amish and visit there atleast once a month. We go to the Green Dragon like you did. We'll normally get the homemade cinnamon rolls with that icing we also get donuts too. Everyone we've ever met there are so nice and very thankful that we've bought anything they've made. Thanks again for sharing this video with us along with your PRICELESS time and effort! Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA.
Your doing a heck of a job down here in lancaster PA . Way to go
Hello how are you doing?
Hi Lea, great detailed video on the Amish community. Appreciate your efforts. Come West again where the skies are blue, less people and traffic:)
Great riding and scenery.. I think alot of us crave the simple life in one way, Maybe no as much as the Amish tho, But respect to them..
Wow, thumbs for you. You made me have an insight into a totally new community. Well done 👏.
Another great story put together on your journey. Thanks.
Thanks for so sweet presentation and mine of knowledge about this God fearing , lovely community
Do u know anybody that ever joined & become Amish? Or anybody that left the Amish?
@@jgrysiak6566 There are definitely people who leave. Never heard of anyone joining--that's something I'll have to ask.
Great video! You got a wonderful shot of our yarn store in the center of town around 5:22! The Speckled Sheep. You definitely many of our favorite spots in the area!
Interessanter Tag. Nicht viel Reiten, viele Informationen. Vielen Dank. Bis nächste Woche.
What a lovely, yummy and interesting glimpse into Amish culture! Your journey is really amazing! Next weeks' episode is a Got2Watch!🙏🍀🙋☺️!
We purchased hand made brooms and several quilts over the years as well.
amazing love from kenya
Lea
This was a Wonderful video Lady!

Ride SAFE and BE safe Lea!
