A run through of my transcription of Mozart's Figaro overture for piano. Enjoy! Sheet music available here: seanchenpiano.com/shop/scores seanchenpiano.com
Yes, of course, this has already been transcribed (all the great operas have a "vocal score" version, that is to say with a piano reduction including the overtures), but the arrangements are a little "simpler" than that this one. That said, in the particular case of this overture, even these simpler versions aren't that easy to play cleanly.
What i like best about this is that there is so much natural vitality without a hint of effort or distortion. As far as the transcription itself Liszt or Rachmaninoff could not do better . Bravo!!
Marvellous. A wonderful and sensitive transcription, and your playing lets the brilliance shine through without overwhelming the more pensive moments. Thank you very much for sharing.
We've done it but it's the whole brass band, but you ..what else can I say.you equal to all of us 47 in the band.We all love it man,it must a mighty creator that bestow you this talent, exxccellent.whoa,
@Mario well if you pay him to transcribe the piece, perform it and upload it, you can definitly be that critic, but since you didnt and he did it for free for we all to enjoy, all you can do its to be thankfull for such a great job, not perfect, nothing is, but still marvellous.
@Mario I don't think you're appreciating this upload for what it is. This isn't a professional recording, obviously, and it's not trying to be. Chen even states in the description that it's a "run-through," which (to me) implies that it's not the final product, rather, it's the rough draft!
Perfect. Pianists must study for years to perfect a certain style and quality of performance and control over the keys. Their fingers can either strike or press a key to change how percussive the note sounds and this style of touching the key can be heard above and beyond the simple speed of the key and hammer. The skill may be factoring in all the inevitable extra noises that come from playing the piano: the sound of fingertips and fingernails hitting the keys just before the note is played, the knock sounds from the hammer hitting the string and the key hitting the bottom of the key frame, and the thump of the key returning to its initial position after being played. All these ideas add up to affect the overall quality of the music. You nailed it, Sean. Score!
You played this so beautifully. Well done bro. I can do it except for the thirds at the end and will need to figure that out. Really fantastic playing. I hope you pursue being a repetiteur.
who needs an orchestra, right? is just amazing!
agreed
Playing this song requires talent, composing it required pure genius. Amazing.
Wow, has this not been transcribed before?
He plays it and makes it sound like it was originally on the piano

Simply amazing! I don't understand why this doesn't have 1 million likes already.
I visualize Mozart showing thumb up from heaven
Heaven? Wolfie?? . . . but you're right about the thumb : )
He has reincarnated in a new body since at least once
