Riddler is so underrated people often forget just how smart he is he took over gothom, out smarted batman many times, can solve alien puzzles and locks in seconds without even knowing about it,knows batmans idenity, his brilliant death traps,he made the other villans his pawns in his game,he is often described as the man who keeps batmans mind sharp, he is the man who tests batmans intellect,he knows more about Gothom than Batman, and when he was a private investigator guess who batman went too? The Riddler was a better detective than Batman.I hate how the new comics petrey him especially in hush. They made him into this C tier villian who isn't very smart.
Hush (comic book version) is really my second or third favorite, what he did was incredibly good and he’s also few of the villains who knew Batman’s secret identity. There are some parts when he became detective that I’ve always loved the best is when Batman had to ask Edward’s help because of an Egyptian based villain who’s killed people who has something to do of a problem in the museum and it’s really awesome that he and Batman had to work together to solve the case and stop the villain from hunting his next victim
I feel bad for Edward Nigma even though he is a villain. The thought of someone’s parents hating their own child or someone physically abusing someone for whatever reason makes me want to smack their damn face for it.
Totally related my parent's still toxic actually my father who makes fun of me and literally was very aware of the coconut spray I was wearing saying oh people with throw pencils erasers that you in class and white girl like you don't not purposes this for black staff that worked in company. he terrible father but years trying forgiven him what done.
In Arkham Knight he even projects his hatred of his dad onto Batman because at one point in the boss fight he says "Die father- I mean Batman." Only unlike his father's abuse his beatings from Batman are deserved especially in the Arkham games with the sick traps he puts people in.
For me Riddler has one of the saddest stories because I think that not being loved and appreciated by your own parents is a pitty. (Also he was physically hurt in some comics) He just wanted a little of attention and love and surely if he had had they, he would not have the psychological problems that he has
Riddler:Riddle me this? What is black and keen at night , is very intelligent, protects people of Gotham and is about to whoop my ass any second from now Batman: You know the answer to that question don't you. "WHAM"
For the record I find Edward Nygma aka Riddler a great villain with genius level intellect. His genius level intellect is considered a great ability and he can't be mind-controlled due to being an A-lister and too smart. Riddler is to be one of the smartest Batman villains and DC villains around with trickery, puzzles, mysteries, and dangerous traps make Riddler a force to be reckoned with and that's what I like about him and that's what makes Riddler so great and he's even smarter than Joker himself. It would also be better if he had fighting skills like martial arts for instance which would make him more dangerous. Riddler may be underrated but Riddler will always be my my favorite DC villain and he's a legend. P.S. Riddler's best line. Riddle Me This!
Riddler is meant to be tragic (like many DC villains); he has the capacity but due to his upbringing, squanders what might otherwise be species-uplifting potential. Imagine how fulfilling his life could be as a college professor, a well-respected researcher or cryptographer - imagine Quinn, Ivy, and Riddler's lives if they weren't abused, subjected to trauma, or introduced to hopeless cases in a literal insane asylum? They could be great boons to humanity, but due to circumstances became villains - living quite free from social restraints but facing limited upward growth because they're their only standard for improvement. There's no "top"; they just live day to day. They find their niche and stay there; no growth outside the things they were interested in when their minds reached that great schism between lawfulness and lawlessness.
I really like the Riddler not because of his goofy looking costume or humour. But because he's a real pain to batman and the Gotham City Police. And to me he's the most realistic person with a justified and understandable desire to be the centre of attention since he didn't get any attention from anyone in his life including his parents from his childhood.
Nice origin but Riddler is just a crazy mastermind lets see others Batman villians like ( Two Face, Killer Croc, Joker, Firefly, Mister Freez, Clayface, Ras al Ghul, Black Masck, Hush) And other justice league heroes: Green Arow, Blue Bettel, Cyborg and Bwana beast.
Oooo I'm so excited.A lot of people think Riddler is third grade villian. But we know Riddler is legend. He is genious. But he had a problem,he wants to show himself to Batman.
I think Joker is more obsessed with Batman because he want crazy because of him. Not god Batman!!!!! Poor Mr. J 😂🃏( Pudding🍮) Why Harllen loves him? Harley and Deadshot are a great couple.

So we're going to see the origin of the Batman's enigma of the villain known as Edward Nygma AKA the Riddler. How many of you can't wait to see the Riddler in the Batman movie with Robert Pattinson as Batman where he will be played by Paul Dano?
Riddle me this, Riddle me that... Who is the best comic book Channel in all over the World?? You guys of course. I've been waiting a long time for the Riddler origins. And I would like to see more origins like Scarecrow, Black Manta or Blue Beetle.
personally Ive never find the Riddler clinically insane compared to batman and the other criminals he faced I'd say he is more sane than any of them including batman. However he does display some form of Autism, bit of OCD as a autistic person myself I can relate to him
In the BTAS episode, " If You Are So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?", The Riddler was a game designer until he was fired by the greedy owner of the company he worked at and decided to get his revenge on him.
Riddler in Gotham was kind of a Shock. While a Criminal, Riddler wasn't known for being a killer. That's somewhat changed in recent years. But I don't remember Riddler killing anyone prior to about 2008 except 1, and that had been an accident. Note, that's just what I remember. Even though I have 70 years of comic book knowledge even I can't know appearance. But after a certain point he did start killing.
Great video. And you couldn’t have picked a better version of Riddler’s origin, too. I like how... mundane this version of his origin is. No abuse from his parents, no overdramatic deaths, no random connections to Bruce Wayne, just a man with an ego larger than Ego the living planet. And for you to cover in the future, I suggest Quentin Turnbull, the arch nemesis of Jonah Hex.
Sorry to say The Batman 2022 didn't do him justice imo. He's pretty much just a crazy person with a Robin Hood ideology. The comic version is a lot more interesting and they missed an opportunity to go into his backstory and develop him onto the big screen.
Great video. Riddler is a very underrated villain and Query and Echo are very interesting characters; they both really fleshed out Edward's character out a whole lot. Really would love to see them make more appearances in the comics as well as in film and televsion. ^_^
I’m excited for this one you always do you like the cool music in the cool intros in like the cool things also the cool narrator voice which actually been meaning to wonder and like ask you in this comment Is that your voice or do you have a guy that can like do the narration and stuff for you
The Riddler is my favorite Batman villain. I think he is kind of held back by the writers making him an attention hog though. His gimmick would work better if he was a sort of “Moriarty” figure who methodically planned complicated criminal plots from behind the scenes, only revealing his influence on a big arc by sending a riddle clue. Not to say that you’d never see him, but seeing him less and allowing him to be a subtle mastermind would increase the impression of his intelligence on the audience. The problem for him is that he is always being written as having to prove his intelligence while setting himself up for failure or having a meltdown when people he underestimates solve his riddles. . . All that stuff makes him look like a joke because the whole time we are being told he is super smart, he is making serious errors. I like the way he was done in the animated series best, especially in the first episode, because even though he was smug he was open to the idea that Batman might be a match for him and planned well enough to escape at the end. And even though he didn’t kill the guy he wanted to kill the guy still lived his life in terror of the Riddler coming back to finish the job. I loved that. The Riddler’s intelligence and scare-factor as a villain come out way better when he doesn’t underestimate his opponents, is a step ahead of them all the time, and removes himself from the action that he remains a little mysterious while his planning and foresight speak for themselves.
Please do an origin of all the robins (including Stephanie), Killer Croc, Clayface, and even though I already know Punchline's origin, I would love to see it in ur fantastic narration 💗
Another excellent origin video, great job! Could we please have a vid starring Mister Miracle and Big Barda? It could be your first couple video, and that'd be some Comics Origins history.
I have great respect for the Riddler yet he could’ve found many ways to gain great wealth with his intellect yet he chose to be the petty thief, but you know what he could’ve found other ways to succeed as a criminal. He didn’t just have to be riddles I mean, he said he’s almost as smart as Batman. He just needs some training and other capabilities to match up.
You Portray These Amazingly Well! Awesome Job 👌 Maybe In The Future You Could Do DarkSeid? Would Love To See More Of Him And Especially With Your Touch For Detail.
I hated how in the Gotham live action series, they showed him as some incel who was pissed off that a woman who he worked with originally didn't like him because she was with an abusive douchebag, then freaked out when she went on a date with him because he was practically obsessed with her and was possessive of her, so she rejected him and he became a villain. It had nothing to do with his abilities like most of the villain origin stories, which explain where their powers/abilities come from.
I think a lot of the comic book writers don’t know what it takes to be declared too insane to stand trial. If John Wayne Gacy was sane enough to stand trial, riddler probably was too.
Fantastic i never knew he had female sickkicks curious if ok to ask What happen to those girls? Will they be seen again? Also X3 the songs prefecr fit X3
Oh, have you done one on Arkham? I'd like to know who built it, the guy who invented Tissue paper? Mayor of NYC? Wille E. Coyote? Arkham Asylum might as well not even bother with having doors and windows and bars! It can't seem to hold anyone for more than a few seconds! With all the advanced technology available in the DC Universe you would think that Batman could get together with say Mr. Miracle, and some others like Will Magnus, gather up some Martian, Kryptonian, Rann, Thanagarian, New Genesis, and Oa'an technology and build something that could actually hold the various Criminals! Marvel has addressed this several times, the Vault, Negative Zone, Vault 2 that was in the water, Using Pym Particles etc. But except for the one attempt at putting them on another planet DC seems to keep relying on 1930s methods! I mentioned Will Magnus because he has created several different versions of Metal Men, including backup teams of other metals (Silver, Cobalt, etc), female versions (with Platinum Man for Tina). It would be a lot harder to escape a prison guarded by a couple hundred sentient robots with powers, also never sleep, also self repair, can hear any escape plan etc. That's if the Criminals can get past 100 traps personally designed by Batman and Mr. Miracle. Walls and bars made of the DC equivalents of Adamantium and Vibranium. Except for heavy hitters like Amazo, Bizzaro, Black Adam, Zod, Doomsday, Mongul, and Darkseid I'm sure something Batman personally designed with Mr. Miracle and guarded by an army of tireless sentient Super Powered robots would stop almost any escapes. I imagine there would still be some, as even all the well thought out Marvel attempts have all eventually failed. And it must also be remembered that while they rarely do, Marvel heroes are more willing to go lethal.
Is the Riddler one of Batman's toughest villains compared to the Joker and the Penguin? What do you think could be his toughest riddle he could give the Dark knight?
In most animated versions, the Riddler is one of Batman's weaker and less imposing villains. I thought it was interesting that in both Young Justice and the New 52 Animated movie series, the Riddler deliberately used the fact that he was considered weak and not imposing to fly under the radar more than once.
