My dear friends, we are heading back to Texas for a second tour of the Fort Worth Zoo. The wilds of Texas are behind us, as we head to the African Savanna. This 2018 addition was the first phase in the Fort Worth Zoo’s A Wilder Vision master plan. As we go on a Texas-sized African safari, we’ll learn that giraffes sleep for only a short period of time, how ostriches raise their chicks, how rhinos get rid of bugs, how hippos share an ancestor with whales and dolphins, and meet our first springbok, ground hornbills, lesser flamingos, and greater flamingos. We’ll also witness the return of the meerkat. Enjoy!

Great tour! It was neat to learn about Springbok, a species I haven't seen very much. I had no idea they weren't gazelles!
I think it would make sense to do Elephant Springs next, since it was phase 2 of the same masterplan, so I'll vote for that!
Thank you, Derek. I also have a question. Since rhinos are one of your favorite animals, what is your favorite rhino exhibit?
I don't really have one to be honest, since Rhino exhibits typically aren't very unique. Although I do like that Toledo's Indian Rhino exhibit allows them to get up-close in the water. @@JacobFiveash
@@DereksZooVideos0118 I understand. Other than the new Pygmy Hippo Plaza at the John Ball Zoo, what other new exhibits do you plan on showcasing in the future?
@@JacobFiveash Although it is not completely new, I will be featuring Fort Wayne's Asian Trek which includes the new Red Panda Ridge and some other recently remodeled habitats.
