My buddy at work just got back from a trip to the Philippines to see family and him and his girlfriend went to visit Whang Od and she offered to give them both a tattoo for free but they insisted on paying her somehow. She ended up telling them that it was free but she would take chocolate as a tip. He told us all about going to see her and how cool she was. At first, I was like " This can not be a real person... A 100 year old woman in a small village on top of a mountain trading tattoos for chocolate???" But his girlfriend showed me pictures of her doing the tattoo on my friends arm and it was just amazing...

now I see tattoo in a totally different way...I mean they wanted to fight back so they group themselves together and have themselves tattooed. Men they are a fighter ! It's an honor to be tattooed by this amazing woman!

I had the pleasure of getting to visit Buscalan recently with my Filipino family and was tattooed by her. The people in the village have a genuine kindness towards visitors that I have not experienced anywhere else. I hope to visit again soon.

Wow.... I've wanted tattoos since I was young and when I turned 18 last year I made myself promise to get it but I just could never find the right tattoo for myself. Now since finding about Whang Od and being a Filipino myself, theres no other tattoo and tattooist I truly want other than Whang Od.
I was never able to fully connect with my own family in the Philippines because we would visit only once every 6 years, I grew up in Australia, I'm raised in this lifestyle of diversity in ethnicities and beliefs and don't get me wrong it's great that different peoples are living together and experience a little bit of everyones culture but I've always thought I'm a Filipino I love my country (even though I can only remember it as a young boy) and yet I know little to nothing about it. I wish to plan a trip by myself and just explore and experience my home country completely. I would definitely love to visit Whang Od.

The path to Buscalan is really time and energy consuming. Along with that, the experience of being among the courteous locals is really amazing. So I don't think the marks she gave in Manila last October is something to be proud of.

Seems like tattooing is what a lot of poor people turn to so they can make money. It makes me upset when I see people ripping off tattoo artist. I really get upset when I find out it is a tattoo artist ripping off another tattoo artist. There is a lot of information you can find on the internet for free. You just have to know where to look. I try to point out this information on my site. This way people can learn how to tattoo and earn money. This way they can put food on the table for their families. Tattoo artist should not take advantage of each other. They should help each other out and form support that will help them through their career. This is an exciting time for tattooing. There are no secrets any more. There are a lot of people sharing information with each other. The internet allows me to help someone learn how to tattoo who lives across the world from me. Helping them learn the trade will help them make money and provide for themselves. I enjoy being a part of that process.

    • @NicoleMaureen

How much she charges in comparison to other tattoo artist is extremely low.. she only takes enough just to sustain her life. I doubt she over charges. I believe she under charges if anything
