She's sucha beauty at this age. Imagine just how beautiful she had be when she was young.
I know right and she’s just getting her first tattoo;)
Ugh. Ikr 😫😩😫😩😫😩😫😩
Look at how shes sitting. I can hardly sit like that for more then 30 seconds. Shes 101 years old.
Everyone could learn something from her. About health, and about beauty.
Asian squat. ☺
True
GTX311 Slavs did it first!
@@harrisonvc9175 Thats how literally every human sat before chairs and other stuff were invented lol.
God cannot accept imperfectness and we are imperfect cause we are sinners. People need salvation because god is perfect. God loves sinners (us) so much that his son Jesus Christ died in the cross for our sins so we can repent and follow him. The door is still open to this day! But there will be a time where that door will be shut. We cannot earn our salvation through good things we do. Salvation is through repenting of your sins, believing on what Jesus Christ did, and follow his ways. This is the gift from god here. Jesus became sin and died so we can have a clean record. John 3:16 For god so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
The idea behind tattoos is actually fairly simple puncturing a little amount of skin and in jecting ink into it. But the difficult part is how people make it beautiful and I've always been fascinated by tattoo artists and always had respect for them, but this... this is on a different level!
To be honest, tattooing is literally another technique of drawing, simple as that, but that technique is really difficult to master because it’s all about practice and constant learning
Thank God, for her granddaughter getting interested in the art. I've been wanting to get tattooed by her for a while now, but was worried that due to her age I might not get the chance to enjoy that experience. Now I might be able to!
T Mill well did u 🤔
Yeah, me too.
Whang od doesn't have ANY sons or daughters. She only has a niece.
You had 8 years to save up for fly ticket did you get it ?
9 years later..
What a bad ass old lady with her whole sleeve
About the pronunciation...(a theory but a logical one)
I'm a Filipino and locals from Angono(Rizal province) pronounce it as A-ngo-no. Traditionally pronouced Ang-go-no. But the non-local's "tongues" pronounced it A-ngo-no so the locals adjusted over the years until almost no one pronounces it the way it was originally pronounced because you would sound "different" from the rest and ironically end up like you are the stranger.
Whang Od in their tongues could be pronounced "F" but they hear us pronounce what we see ("W") so I think they just give it back to us. Maybe "language by convention" (vocabulary by collective agreement) in some subconscious level...☺
When strangers mispronounce something, locals let it go instead of correcting, only to find a thousand more strangers mispronouncing. Then the "let go" builds up until everyone thinks they're correct.
Whang-Od...written with a "W", pronounced with an "F", but they will openly pronounce it "W" knowing tourists pronounce it that way.
i was wrong... They spell it "F" and pronounce it "W"

"We had that one crazy guy in our village. One day he has invented something he called "a wheel". I remember it well, I was 40 then"
Amazing! Just this June, I went to Banaue and Sagada but didn't have enough time to visit Kalinga. I must return. Thank you for this video! Salamat!
Where is this place located?
Great video! It's good to see her and the village again. I was there in Nov. and got a tattoo from her.
Local child has told a man that made a comment 5 years ago to stop spilling his filthy untruths.

Hi. Do you know the local Kalinga term for the soot/ink that Apo Fang-Od use? Is it 'Merteka' or 'Merieka'? I am really confused. I will use for some school purposes. Thanks.
she used charcoal as ink
Pinoy na di alam pangalan ni apo wang odd.. 😂
@@tinolangmanok940 Excuse me?? Please read the succeeding comments on this video about the 'spelling' and 'pronunciation' of her name.
@@Roooona whang od.. Wag kasi maniwala sa mga comment lang.. Mag research ka muna.. Google mo kya.. Pa English2 kapa
OMG she is amazing
A brilliant video , I loved watching this . When you see something like this it makes you realise just how clinical the modern world has become , with health and safety rules and regulations for almost everything , it takes away the natural environment . It's good to see it's not been completely eroded all round the world .
That's true. It really shows how far Apol went "out there" so to speak. Good work to her to get these video clips and the story.
m 'n' Survival
Yes, because coming home with HIV or hepatitis is so beneficial to the immune system...🙄
I love the look of this, and the culture. But to say that health regulations is detrimental is just stupid in these days of severe diseases from all over that are so easily transferred.
Stupidist comment ever
Indeed
That's the souvenir you get in the Philippines!
thank you for sharing this video .
Thank you.
Talk about not being sterile.
Grandma looks like a modern rapper, respect!
Very nice feeling to this documentary, thank you
I'm wondering what ink she uses, got any idea ?
She used ink from octopus 🐙
That called a real tattoo traditional and satisfying lovely and hard work
Their immune systems are much stronger than us weak Americans
Love 2 indonesia!❤

How does she make the ink, only charcoal and water?
Abang ini di daerah mana?
Very nice

Realy cool. I thinks
the coolest grama in the world
these traditions have ben alive for 400 + years and people now cant get a job because of tattoos its crap the tattoos should be accepted all over its older than the job they are applying for lol
jamie hynes The modern day tattoos are just there for the inviduals personal will. The tattoos earnt from a tribe trough a ceremony shows strength, accomplishes, rank or have passed a test, which other tribe members will notice and not a person with a bible verse below the clavicle.
Most jobs are fine with tattoos as long as its not on your face, neck or hands and they’re not something stupid/explicit
The Law what does it matter what it means?
@@ewinters4747 man shut the fuck up. Personal will, passing a test, all that jizz, stop making everything sound like a goddamn fortune cookie. We get tattoos because we like them. If an organisation refuses to hire people on the basis of ink then screw 'em. I have one in an area that is known as ths jobstopper. Till date I haven't had issues. Except with dumbfucks who had a "personal" problem with my choice
@@adityachatterjee9928 Yes, people these days get tattoos because they like them. In the past that wasn't the case though, people got tattoos because they earned them.
I love her shirt
Wowww
I feel that one should earn a tattoo like that
I guess you do by going all the way out there. It's not like she's tattooing around the corner in some city.
Well I'd say that but I think it's illigal to head hunt now
To live this human experience is already a challenge in its own
Far cry 3 lol everytime you killed some boss you got a tattoo
Depends what type a warrior tattoo should be earn
Wow its basically a low tech ink 🔫. Really cool to use a thorn like that.
Kung ako magpapatato mas piliin ko talaga si Apo Wang Od kc..legend na at history na pag dating ng araw..i will be proud.

Traditionally in Austronesian language family, which includes tons of languages from Tagalog to Hawaiian etc, the latin chracters WH are pronounced with an F, like the number 7 in Maori (another Austronesian Langugae) which is spelled as Whitu but pronounced Fitu (its Pitu/Pito in Philippine dialects).
There are multiple spellings of the same name.
