    Your video saved me at least $200 in shop diagnosis and repair. I was able to replace my stalk and wiring easily thanks to your step by step instructions. Thank you!
    Bonus; I didn’t break the ears off my clip. That little tidbit of info was helpful. Kudos for showing that part and not editing it out.

    Best video of this replacement on TH-cam! I've been having this trouble for about 2 years now. The first time it happened lost all power on my truck towing up a hill. Going to finally replace the lever now. Thank you for this video.

    Yooooo. Your video just saved me so much grief and wasted parts money with this clapped F350. I'm 99% sure my E350 had this problem too and I sold it thinking it was something serious. Fool me once, fool me twice! I just used some butt connectors and duct tape because I need my dump truck in the morning but this is probably fairly permanent lol. Now I dont need to spend the $400 minimum on a few yards of concrete to haul off by hiring a tandem. Saving me money hand over fist... at least $1000 and the day of work I wont miss messing around with a mechanic who may or may not solve it, plus the parts cannon they may come up with. You sir, are THE MAN! Beers on me! You're my new best buddy.

    Disconnect the battery first. Then there's no warning chime 👍
    Nice job on the video!
    I needed this.

    Thank you. My gauges started going crazy a few months ago and my shift lever has been loose for years. Two fixes in one shot. I'm heading to my local O'reillys to grab an in stock lever kit. 286,000 miles and still going strong.

    Finally I found the same ( F350 7.3 4x4 crew cab )set up I have. Thank you so much for this video. Greatly appreciated, now it is my turn to fix my truck. My truck the light comes on and I giggle the handle the the light goes off and on. But it does not activate the transmission into the lower gear. Been putting it off for a month, I need to take the panels off and see if I can repair the wires. Hopefully that is what it is. Doesn't look like it would take to long, going to go buy some heat shrink first to put over the wires after I do the repairs. Thanks again.

    My 2001 Excursion Limited V10's OD light flashes accompanied by what appears to vehicle shifting gears but then the OD goes off and everything is normal again for a bit, then it does it a few minutes later. Any suggestions? Thanks man, well done vid👍

    Could that broken wire cause your transmission to not shift into overdrive some times?

    Would this cause the gauges to stop working

    The pin holding the shift lever in place can be removed without removing that clip. Just pop it up from the bottom, and pull it out from the top.

    My overdrive wires shorted and didn't pop the fuse. Replaced the shifter handel with new like you did and still don't have response from gas pedal and gaguges are dead. Any thoughts?

    • @buildsomethingstupid1736
      @buildsomethingstupid1736  ปีที่แล้ว

      No Idea but I dont think the overdrive button would cause a dead pedal and no gauges. sounds like something else

      Replace the entire pedal assembly

    The overdrive button hasn’t worked on my 2002 Ford f250 7.3 since I bought the truck over 6 years ago. I’m on my second transmission and it’s starting to have intermittent issues shifting with no consistency. I’ve been thinking is it possible for a truck to be stuck in overdrive with the button not working, and if so how would you know when it is in overdrive aside from the indicator light on the shifter handle?

      I honestly think I have the same sort of issue?

      If the over drive wires are disconnected will that affect the cluster gauges???

    • @buildsomethingstupid1736
      @buildsomethingstupid1736  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure I think you'd need a way to calculate gears and see your RPM at certain speeds

    I just bought a used Ford focus and spilled soda on the gear shifter area and. The o/d light comes on sometimes the button does work when pressing it. Wonder if I need to replace it

      If the OD button is on the shifter than yeah you probably got the switch wet.

    Mine didn’t look frayed nor cut anywhere in the column… in fact the original owner tried fixing it.. I cannot find the wire that’s causing my problem 😭

    My wires are aren't cut or frayed. They look to be in perfect condition. My button still doesn't work. Idk maybe a faulty button I guess.

      Can be a plug on the tranny or a broken wire elsewhere it's a drag to man I know people that pulled Trans and changed or rebuild and still had the problem not knowing that It was just a plug not connected.
