CFB25 doesn't need to add a soundtrack, it just needs to rotate through the school fight songs, which are all already in the game. That would alleviate a lot of the repetitiveness of the menu music situation. You've got 130+ school fight songs in the game! Use them!!!
Yeah but why would you be playing Alabama's fight song while you're playing as Auburn for example? That doesn't make sense. They can add music just make it all instrumental or choose indie songs or something. It doesn't have to be a top 100 Playlist of radio songs
The truth is Madden has been so bad that we gave CF25 a pass just for being a competent game. EA put cheese on a shit burger and wanted us to be excited about the cheese.

Not being able to edit players is what killed game for me 0 roster customization is crazy even in dynasty when you sim a few years down the line and all the real life players are gone you cant edit players at all number or attributes
I get it but honestly not being able to edit attributes has made the game incredibly immersive for me. It's harder like the ps2 era NCAA games. But not being able to edit basic information like numbers and names and stuff is super lame. No custom recruits is stupid too
Player attribute ratings I don’t mind so much, but the names and at minimum not being able to change the numbers is so annoying. I don’t want my star DE wearing 14 or QB wearing 22. It’s just dumb to me. It would be great if they could do an update to fix this. It would instantly make the game better.
I would’ve mentioned pass blocking as a major gripe. And before anyone brings up “IDing the Mike” or “sliding my pass protection” that is not what I’m referring to. The amount of times I’ve had offensive lineman act like literal traffic cones NOT EVEN INTERACTING with pass rushers makes me want to stop playing. For reference, I play on Heisman, and no, sliders have not made a difference.
They need to fix Road to Glory. Playing as an QB is the worst. I had a season where the opponent defense only gave up FIVE PENALTIES THE WHOLE SEASON! Can’t turn up the penalties, so no roughing the passer, late hits, pass interference. The blocking is horrible. The defense makes UNBELIEVABLE PLAYS. Doesn’t matter who you play, you would think ever defense is Alabama. You can beat a DB, MLB, or whoever, and somehow, someway when you throw it to an open receiver, the opponent will get a boost of speed outta nowhere and intercept your pass. And fix the simulation when you’re not playing. No way the CPU should score in 5 seconds after giving them the ball and you don’t see any plays
The only way to have fun on high difficulties at qb is to adjust the sliders. Nothing too crazy though. I turned up my ol pass blocking and still got sacked 5 times a game. It’s broken

Every game has issues. There are some flaws that can't be overlooked especially with the game modes but all in all, I feel like I got my money's worth, its a fun game.
After the first 2 weeks cracks started to show for me. Way better than madden but sadly I don't believe we'll ever get another sports game with the love and care the 2000's had.

@gamewhiz23 Yeah, but there's a difference between a high school grading score than a video game rating score. While 5/10 in school is an F. A 5/10 for a game's score is considered average with 4 being below average and 6 is above average but some people don't seem to understand that
Depth is my biggest complaint in dynasty. I love recruiting but I want to have the responsibility upgrade stadium and athletic facilities and manage player’s personalities and off field issues
This, so much. We've rebuilt Tulane and after 3 championships it feels weird to have this small of a stadium. We should be able to meet certain requirements to select and ''build'' a newer, bigger stadium.

Athletic facilities do "improve" after you start winning nattys to help with recruiting. But no bigger stadium even though they made one up for Hawaii.
Personally, I wish the coaches were as customizable as they were in NCAA 14. I hope that this game was mostly foundational and the future games innovate and improve.
The game treats coaches poorly too. They're not even in ANY presentation cut scenes, like they are in Madden. Seeing to coach pacing on the sidelines during stressful moments in NCAA 14 was always a nice touch.
When has ea and madden gone forward in the last 10 years genuinely, genuinely am asking. I hate when people use this excuse for them, they’ve had 10 years and an exact template to follow for success. They went backwards on features from the 2014 game !!!! Lousy excuse, road to glory in 2014 had a skip play button so if you were a qb you could sim all the running plays and not watch your qb hand it off to a cpu rb you don’t control. It’s simple shit like that, they just do not care. The blocking, no customization, cheese plays, horrible ranking system in dynasty, same exact cut scene after every single win with the guys lining up. This game sucks and ea usually goes backwards not forwards from what we’ve seen in the last 10 years from them
I really dont want a CBF 26. If CFB wants to stay a good franchise, they should stay away from maddens' mistakes. Having a new game every year is one of those mistakes. It's not necessary for CBF.
i would love for that BUT seeing how its EA i completely doubt they will. I mean look at Madden, as long as they are the sole company making the game they will put as little effort and money into the game as possible and just sell reskins for years. Without any real competition they will just let the game sell because you can;'t get it anywhere else.
This game has SO much potential, the lack of physics, abundance of glitches and visual bugs definitely make this review justified. Like you said still great fun, I hope we get some updates soon.
One thing that’s small but I liked a lot about the older college football games was the trophy room that would have all conference championship trophies and rivalry games that have trophies with them
This is the only game that has brought my 16-year old son over to enjoy a sports videogame. He is primarily a 1st person shooter gamer but now he plays College Football non-stop! I would still highly recommend it to people!
I’m pretty happy they’ve updated a few stadiums since release. IMO it’s fun but 11, 13, 14 plus any of the PS2 generation releases are much deeper. Your revised score seems very fair.
I'm going to politefully disagree. I played an entire 60 year Dynasty in 11 against a good buddy of mine, and honestly to me this feels much more realistic gameplay wise. I have to think about the plays I run in 24 and be methodical, whereas in 11 I could cheese plays all the way down the field no matter what defensive coverage because it felt so arcade-like. The new game feels phoned in some, especially with things like the commentary, but overall I don't think it's bad like most Madden players make it out to be. Now if 2K could make a CFB game they could really bring the heat and make EA sweat! 🔥🤘
I completely agree, I want to say it’s a perfect game because it’s been so long since we’ve had a fun football game, but I know that’s crazy. I think the game while being fairly barebones is in a fantastic position due to the replay ability from gameplay and recruiting. While also setting themselves up for many improvements they can make.
Thought you were a little high the first time, and probably a touch low this time lol. I think you hit the nail on the head with “this is as good as gameplay can be with the frostbite engine” and I’d weight gameplay more important compared to modes, presentation and menus.
Road to glory needs an overhaul. We need quicker progression for playing well, coach trust needs to allow you to eventually audible and set protections once maxed. And there should be more customization on player archetypes

Not being able to customize players or create a player outside of RTG is not a legal issue. If you can do it in Madden, you can do it in NCAA. If you can create a player in RTG, you can create a player anywhere else in the game. They took out create a player in Madden to force people to play Superstar Mode. Which has more microtransactions. That is the real reason they took out create a player in both games.
It actually a legal reason the NBA NFL and other major sports leagues have player unions. Every player in the league is covered. NCAA does not have that so they have to just make blanket offers like they did which was $500 and a copy of the game and You’re in if you say no, they had to make it impossible for you to make that player so arch Manning on the game because he didn’t want to be the person that Edwin when they play his Texas just put him as a starter over Quinn Ewer, you can put in arch Manning no matter how much you try.

The list goes on. If it was a name issue, then filter out names that aren't allowed to be used. Don't take out the feature completely. But I personally think it's to subtle in microtransactions like they did with Madden this year. Next NCAA game will have their own MyPlayer mode with microtransactions.
I give it a 7.5. It's fun and I don't mind the lack of features as much since I know the NIL contracts limit some freedom. I messed with some sliders and the gameplay is great. I exclusively play single-player and the new dynasty and RtG have given me a bunch to do so far. The commentary, lack of polish, and the drum music are the worst things for me. Great honest review as always SDTV!
Am I the only person who felt like the early release played better than the global release? It seemed to be so much smoother (I’ve played thru 5 seasons of dynasty)
O line needing help is an understatement. I've got 90 overall tackles with 99 in all pass blocking stats just letting dudes run right by them without touching them.
I love CFB25, but two things are driving me crazy: -wear and tear on my running backs is ridiculous. They become ineffective by halftime, yet the game rarely auto-subs-in the backup (and usually only for a single play when it does) -individual offensive linemen are often completely insane, failing to block anyone at all in the run game, and sometimes running far down the field past a bunch of defenders. I can't tell whether this is a bug or if they're just suffering from mental errors due to low AWR
5/10 for me. Experienced a lot of buggy gameplay and several crashes. Lost an entire Dynasty save because of it. Logic is completely busted. If this is the best EA can offer after several years I shudder to think what next year's game brings
I really wish you personally upgraded your platers like in Madden. The auto progress just feels less personal. Maybe I'm werid but I personally want to see my player growth from week to week.
100% I understand not wanting to copy Madden but player upgrades still need to be engaging and rewarding even if it's RNG -- something the old games managed to do. This just sucks. The inability to clearly see when or why players upgrade is super frustrating. Game design 101: if people feel the need to use a spreadsheet while playing the game you have massively f**ked up your UI
You got caught up in the hype package. It is still an EA game and an 8.5 was absolutely crazy at first. It's a painfully mediocre game even after a month
I've been playing for two days and already it's clear it's a lousy and shallow game. I respect the amount of work some devs had to do gathering all the uniforms, fight songs, stadiums, etc. That's an insane volume of work. But clearly leadership is still pushing them to recycle the same shitty gameplay with a nicer looking coat of paint on top
They need to really update Dynasty's Custom Conference Rules. You only get like 5 options for the Conference Championship stadium and if you do change anything in a Conference like the SEC or B1G, you'll lose the default stadium you play at. As Kentucky playing in Dyansty, this basically ruined my immersion for Dynasty because the SEC Championship game will no longer be in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
also if you customize anything in a conference (for example moving USC and UCLA out of the BIG TEN) all protected rivalries will get flown out the window
They also need to fix the Pac-12 because you either switch all the teams back or you leave it as a 2 team conference. There needs to be an option to remove it and move WSU and OSU to another conference.
They also need to allow you to turn off the conference championship for all conferences. I shouldn't have to have a conference title game for a 10 team Big 10 with a full round robin conference schedule.
I think it’s a real shame the game didn’t launch in its current state, but I’d rate it an 8 I think nostalgia is really blocking how people view CFB 25, because almost everything about it is a step up from NCAA 14. Dynasty and RTG were pretty shallow in that game Most of the critiques were also in 14, like limited RTG playcalling, conference schedules locked, no way to view past season history, etc I would love to see a lot of what you mentioned in future titles, but I think it’s safe to say EA knocked this one out the water vs Madden 25, and deserves at least a 7.5

the presentation is really bad to be honest, it annoys me how there’s only one cutscene when you play a game. The old NCAA games had differences every time i played a game, from showing lee corso and that panel to showing players warming up, and the commentators giving an overview and prediction. The generic fans look awful as well.
This feels kinda nitpicky tbh. I can still hop in any game mode ( except for ultimate team) and have a few hours worth of fun. So it's still a 9/10 for me.
I feel like it's missing a lot of stuff I enjoyed from the PS2 and even PS3 era games. I miss the instant classic score and even the college classics. Mascot mode was a fun thing to have to mess around with too. Also the crowds and sounds don't give me that college feel. I don't know it seems to be missing the charm of the old games we all loved I think.
This the best gameplay we'll ever get on the frostbite engine. There's a lot I love with the game, but there's also a lot that they can improve and do better. Granted this is the first release of CFB on the new gen consoles, so I'll give them slack, these people seem to actually care about the game unlike the people who make Madden. But my biggest issue with the game is that the end of season awards don't make any sense, I played as VT and my edge rusger won the Hesiman with 25 sacks, but yet he didn't win the best edge rusher or d linemen awards, and he didn't even make any all-american team which is annoying. I also don't like the draft results that they give for players, it seems they just base it entirely on a players OVR and doesn't factor in their stats at all.
They definitely need to tune the sim games. I’m playing a mainly sim dynasty with a 94 overall team and lost to an 80 overall Ohio team in the first round of the playoffs.

UT will never get played by me I'm an old head that only cares about RTG and Dynasty, as far as the music it doesn't really bother me I do wish they would have put all the schools fight song in there like in NCAA 07! I agree the game is not the best NCAA game. The coach AI in RTG is very dumb some times. Also I've had one time where I scored a touchdown and the coach goes for 2, took me (QB) out and we fail and when I checked the highlight it says I was in the game and missed a pass. I should play every snap I am on the field. That being said, I am still having fun. My grade is pretty similar. I would give a 7-7.5
One thing I have noticed while playing RTG as a running back is I always get subbed out going into the red zone. So even if I am the #1 running back in the country I barely score any TDs. Its so annoying
It depends on the teams offense. Some teams have a different HB when in the red zone, when it’s 3rd down, and when the first down is short in yards. It could be the team you’re playing for. It’s the scheme
It's an improvement from Madden but at the end of the day it's another soulless sports game that has the benefit of being the first of it's kind (debatable) in a decade. The more I play it, the less I like it and the more disappointed I am. 3 years of development for this mid ass game is seriously disappointing.

Honestly I could not for the life of me understand why people were giving this game such high review scores upon release. I knew this widespread re-evaluation would happen. It’s a fun but seriously flawed game. And if anyone thinks for a second that EA is going to keep adding meaningful features as the years go on… Well, I’ve got the last 15 years of Madden I’d like to show you. This current version of CFB is about as good as it’s going to get.
It's very easy to understand why. You have to factor in the fact a lot of people who bought CFB 25 have long stopped playing Madden. Heck, the last Madden I got was 18. So when it finally comes to a football game that's new and has actual hype around it. For instance, a game people were waiting nearly a decade for, people are going to get caught up in the hype. There may be glaring issues that cynical people like you or me will see. But we're not the average person. So when people finally get their hands on it and it to an extent does meet expectations. They'll likely be inclined to overblow just how good the game is. This happens all the time in entertainment. It's still a good game and certainly a step above Madden, but ya it's definitely not some masterpiece that people initially were painting it as. Hopefully in future titles more depth will be added, but we all know the odds of that happening are as bout as good as DJ Uiagalelei actually being a good QB.

Number 1 thing I hate about CFB 25 is stadium pulse if you play on the road your at such a disadvantage I have had moments were I can’t see my routes as the QB witch aggravates tf out of me and when I audible my QB has question mark over his head when I am the one changing the play is ridiculous I can understand WR or TE doing that hell even RB if I decide to throw to him I can deal with the route moving and shaking that’s fine but not being able to see who to throw to especially in a panic scrambling situation makes me want to uninstall the game and with RTG you can’t audible at all unless you’re in hurry up and coach calls the worst plays I remember I almost lost national championship game because my coach thought it was a good idea to run the ball on 4 and 10 and other thing they always take you off the field if you don’t convert on 3rd down and I don’t like how there is no high school for RTG ncaa 14 was such a better game they had Heisman mode and mascot game mode I never really cared about dynasty in any of the games tbh so I don’t have a opinion on that play now and RTG has always been my favorite modes and kicking meter I don’t really like how fast it is and how that yellow line isn’t in the game to help guide the ball in for the field goal all in all I give the game 6.5/10 or 7/10 if stadium pulse was like momentum from madden then I could care less but stadium pulse is game breaking and makes me not want to play at all
Honestly, a lot of my love for football video games comes from the schematic side. I enjoy developing a playbook identity, scouting an opponent, creating an actual play-call sheet for different games, scripting my opening drive, calling both sides of the ball efficiently, making adjustments where needed…that’s the side of football that appeals to me. Dynasty is lackluster in many respects. I’m not a huge recruiter, personally, because I prefer just filling out my team needs and adapting my scheme to fit my personnel (like an actual coach). I do wish the “lore” and storylines were more fleshed out, but again, that’s not really why I’m playing… NFL 2K5 is still the most realistic on the field, but the sheer schematic depth of CFB 25 is wonderful. I’m having an absolute blast in that regard! I totally understand where others are coming from, though. We all love college football, but we all appreciate the sport itself and the video games for different reasons.

Hard to trust the opinion of a reviewer when their review when most people are deciding whether or not to purchase is glowing, and when most people have already committed money and realized it's not that great they change their tune. It's similar to FudgeMuppet's review of Starfield talking about how amazing it was, and then completely dropping the game for 6 months and going back to Fallout 4 videos.

It wasn't close to perfect. The game play is brutal and way over rated. Just like 2k5. I really don't get the love for those games. They were nothing to me when they came out and that is the same today.
Honestly I just got the game and if you do remove all the context surrounding it, yeah its absolutely more fun than the Ps4 Maddens. Animations definitely have more weight and momentum to them and feel more like actual physics, movement isn't too bad, the crowd and stadium environment feels like a proper atmosphere, I haven't noticed any bs glitching so far, but don't take my word for that one. On its own, it at least makes me want to come back to it unlike Madden 19 (the last one I bought). There's potential, and actual improvement from the PS4 Madden era. But we need to keep seeing a leap like this in successive games, and we all know how that will end when there's a monopoly.
You’re mistaken. EA has an exclusive deal with the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC). In other words, no other developer can make a college game that has official teams, uniforms, stadiums, etc. It’s fundamentally no different than the deal that EA has with the NFL. Also,this game lacks the wow factor. It’s underwhelming, especially considering how long the fan base has waited for its return.

I haven’t bought an EA football since Madden 16 but the latest one I played was Madden 18. The way I look at it is this. In the moment, in the "play now" style game it is fun. Against a buddy for a game or two is really fun. When you dive into Dynasty or other modes that have deep mechanics, that is the problems. Tons of issues where you can't find stats, tons of glitches, the pathetic sim engine, repeated lines over and over, it comes off as really pretty with absolutely no depth.
I just bought college football this morning before heading out to work. It was installing as I left the house. This is the first ea sports title I purchased since madden 18 which was garbage. Last time before that, was ncaa 2006. You just putting college fb 25 in the same breath as ncaa 2006 sold it. Even if it's not as in depth as 2006, just being fun and exciting to play puts it up there as one of the best ea sports titles of the last 20 years. Hate me all you want but I honestly can't wait to play it after work. It's been too long since the last time I took the Ohio Bobcats on a 4-peat. 😆 🤣
I’m doing an Army dynasty currently and the most annoying glitch is if you use “rocket toss” out of any formation the game doesn’t register your rush attempt, yards, or TD’s. It’s one of my favorite plays and a staple of Army’s wishbone offense and I literally can’t call it anymore. Such BS

Dynasty should be updated regularly similar to the way GTA Online is maintained. Offline Dynasty Coaches shouldn't cap at 50. For the love of if gawd, permit number changes for anyone that we've recruited or, allow us to assign numbers.
That point you made about the schedule changes, it's actually really funny because in NCAA Football 99, you could schedule any team to play any team on any week. If you broke the scheduling rules it would warn you, but you could choose to change the schedule to meet the NCAA conference requirements, or you could choose to overrule the NCAA and ppay with that wacky schedule. I made a season with completely randomized schedules. It took a while but it was fun :)
I gave the game an 8.5 after 2 days. Now hundreds of hours later 7.75. I really like it. Sure, a few bad things like the inability to sub on the fly but I love it

I bought CFB25 because of your first review. All the stuff you brought up in this video was a bit disappointing to find... But since i purchaced this game in July i havent been able to put it down lol. The game being fun matters more than dynasty features. However, if CFB26 releases with minor upgrades to this game... You are so right upgrading players in Road to Glory is way too slow. I started with an OVR 67 player. He is still on the bench after two years at OU. I have his skills up to 80 across the board with good grades. And he just sits on the bench. So I just have to Sim every game. I would think they could have a starting QB get hurt for a week so I can get some gameplay in. I think I will be on the field by the 4th year, but this is taking a long time. That's 2.5 years of sim games I did in one night of being a couch potato. I think I heard that you are saying there will only be 3 plays to select from during a Road to Glory game. Did I understand that correctly? With that said, yes, the gameplay is definitely fun. I just want more of it. And like you have said the upgrades are way too slow. Another thing that I would point out is "Where is the online manual?" I could not find one anywhere. I watched the tutorial videos on TH-cam. But I much prefer a more detailed online manual. If you know where one is, let me know. One more point the ability to customize a players appearance is too limited. Tiger Woods Golf 2005 allowed you to adjust appearances much more precisely for like the nose, eyes, chin, jaw and ears, etc. Also, I cannot be bald in College Football 25. Those are some of the negatives But again, the gameplay is fun. I certainly enjoy that aspect so far. Because I came for gameplay. I came for the Sport. Also, this is a sports game do we need a DEI lecture upon setting up the game. DEI statements are designed to cause division and marginalize biblical thinking. Those types of statements reject biblical truth in love. Statements like these are not grounded in biblical truth. They are not welcoming to everyone especially Jesus and His ways. These statements can only cause division among people. What people need is the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His way, His truth and His life. People should go to Jesus Christ and His Word for how to truly love people rightly in righteousness. Most importantly read the Bible. Then, you will help people if you want to truly love. If you are interested, look up Marxism and Social Justice and how that changed South America into Communist nations. They turn people against each other by marginalizing certain groups and elevating other groups above the rest. That is what DEI is all about. Political Correctness to silence good speech and right speech. Most people will never study the history of these things. But they should. With that said, sure talk about getting along with each other in a dialog box when setting up the game. I'm all for sportmanship, but drop the Marxist DEI groups against groups stuff. And address sportmanship from true love, biblical love. You will be the right person for loving the way Jesus loves. What is biblically right and wrong is what is important. That is truth in love. So that people are led in the right biblical loving way. This way we know how to show sportmanship, be kind and have fun with our friends online in the godly way without a lecture taken from a Marxist playbook. Those kind of statements are actually tweaked on purpose to cause division when we already know how to find true love in the Bible. That is the true way to love each other. The right way is the righteous way to love.
I think your revision is spot on. I went through the same set of emotions. I was so happy to finally get this game after 10 years that I overrated it. The good thing is it's not a bad game at all and fun to play, just needs some polish. There are weird things still in the game. Playing 'Moments' is a fun way to get through things quickly, but is it just me, or do they not show you the distance to go when you choose your plays? Like it will say it's a big third down, but it doesn't say if it's 3rd and 10 or 3rd and 1. So I have to select a play sight unseen.

Gave it a 9/10 on first review probably off just sheer excitement and happiness over it being out in the first place would probably give it a 7.5/10 now flawed but I still enjoy playing it and the first big patch definitely improved some of the bugs and cheese from the game.
Honestly my day 1 experience with cfb 25 is that i was pretty disappointed. Yes i was having fun on the game, and i was happy to have a new cfb game, but was still disappointed at some of the major issues and madden-isms of the gameplay. And as i played more over the next few weeks, i kept getting more frustrated with simple things that shouldve been fixed 2 years ago in development. I personally rated it a 6/10 and i felt like i was losing my mind because everywhere i went online people were saying 9/10 and saying it was easily the best cfb game ever Good revision, i believe a 6.5/10 is pretty fair and accurate
A 6.5 out of 10 is a fair score, in my opinion. I was very happy that EA Sports finally put out a game in which the gameplay was actually decent but the lack of depth and some of the features in CFB25 being barebones should definitely be noteworthy. And yes, the bugs... I still notice defenders super-skating from one area of the field to another in order to participate in a tackle animation; the Road to Glory play selection needs to be improved, whether it be the amount of changes a gamer is provided in a game or to provide gamers more plays during a down albeit if limited (perhaps a rotation of 3 plays to choose from, for example). But for me, the most glaring omission in the game is Create-a-School feature aka Team Builder. If the current process will continue then the website needs to be improved. But honestly I'd like to see this being added into the game. Imagine the current game with the inclusion of Create-a-School? That would certainly add more gametime for players to immerse themselves rather than going from computer to console, then perhaps back to computer for any adjustments, before finally going back to the console.
Good foundational title, the pieces are there, great gameplay and presentation is solid. However legacy issues are still there and the overall lack of depth holds it back. I hope we see CFB 27 not 26 that way they have more time to polish the code and clean up legacy issues. Great revision to the review man! Really appreciate your videos.
The game WAS fun but that honeymoon period faded fast. I think most people were just excited for a new CFB game. It’s dead now, there just not much to do in the game with so many restrictions….
The sim logic and the overall glitch is what's killing it for me, when I have to calculate overalls and force wins to have a realistic experience, it's not fun for me
@Thetallguy_zz the calculations for the overalls are all over the place it leans heavily on backups which shouldn't be the case, it should only take starters and a couple choice backups in consideration, but the cpu overalls wont change at all, like for example colorado is a 84 overall, but after the first year travis hunter and sanders leave as well as most of their core and they kinda suck after that but they will stay a 84 and not change, and other teams will get better but not change, texas state for example is a 78 overall on it but in my save years later everyone of the team is 85 overall and up and most are in the 90s but they still only show as a 78 overall

Not being able to edit players is what killed game for me 0 roster customization is crazy even in dynasty when you sim a few years down the line and all the real life players are gone you cant edit players at all number or attributes

I would’ve mentioned pass blocking as a major gripe. And before anyone brings up “IDing the Mike” or “sliding my pass protection” that is not what I’m referring to. The amount of times I’ve had offensive lineman act like literal traffic cones NOT EVEN INTERACTING with pass rushers makes me want to stop playing. For reference, I play on Heisman, and no, sliders have not made a difference.

They need to fix Road to Glory. Playing as an QB is the worst. I had a season where the opponent defense only gave up FIVE PENALTIES THE WHOLE SEASON! Can’t turn up the penalties, so no roughing the passer, late hits, pass interference. The blocking is horrible. The defense makes UNBELIEVABLE PLAYS. Doesn’t matter who you play, you would think ever defense is Alabama. You can beat a DB, MLB, or whoever, and somehow, someway when you throw it to an open receiver, the opponent will get a boost of speed outta nowhere and intercept your pass. And fix the simulation when you’re not playing. No way the CPU should score in 5 seconds after giving them the ball and you don’t see any plays

Depth is my biggest complaint in dynasty. I love recruiting but I want to have the responsibility upgrade stadium and athletic facilities and manage player’s personalities and off field issues

We've rebuilt Tulane and after 3 championships it feels weird to have this small of a stadium. We should be able to meet certain requirements to select and ''build'' a newer, bigger stadium.

Athletic facilities do "improve" after you start winning nattys to help with recruiting. But no bigger stadium even though they made one up for Hawaii.
Personally, I wish the coaches were as customizable as they were in NCAA 14. I hope that this game was mostly foundational and the future games innovate and improve.
The game treats coaches poorly too. They're not even in ANY presentation cut scenes, like they are in Madden. Seeing to coach pacing on the sidelines during stressful moments in NCAA 14 was always a nice touch.
When has ea and madden gone forward in the last 10 years genuinely, genuinely am asking. I hate when people use this excuse for them, they’ve had 10 years and an exact template to follow for success. They went backwards on features from the 2014 game !!!! Lousy excuse, road to glory in 2014 had a skip play button so if you were a qb you could sim all the running plays and not watch your qb hand it off to a cpu rb you don’t control. It’s simple shit like that, they just do not care. The blocking, no customization, cheese plays, horrible ranking system in dynasty, same exact cut scene after every single win with the guys lining up. This game sucks and ea usually goes backwards not forwards from what we’ve seen in the last 10 years from them

I’m pretty happy they’ve updated a few stadiums since release. IMO it’s fun but 11, 13, 14 plus any of the PS2 generation releases are much deeper. Your revised score seems very fair.

I'm going to politefully disagree. I played an entire 60 year Dynasty in 11 against a good buddy of mine, and honestly to me this feels much more realistic gameplay wise. I have to think about the plays I run in 24 and be methodical, whereas in 11 I could cheese plays all the way down the field no matter what defensive coverage because it felt so arcade-like. The new game feels phoned in some, especially with things like the commentary, but overall I don't think it's bad like most Madden players make it out to be. Now if 2K could make a CFB game they could really bring the heat and make EA sweat! 🔥🤘
I completely agree, I want to say it’s a perfect game because it’s been so long since we’ve had a fun football game, but I know that’s crazy. I think the game while being fairly barebones is in a fantastic position due to the replay ability from gameplay and recruiting. While also setting themselves up for many improvements they can make.
On top of this it legitimately feels like the devs care about the game and want to put out a good product.

Not being able to customize players or create a player outside of RTG is not a legal issue. If you can do it in Madden, you can do it in NCAA. If you can create a player in RTG, you can create a player anywhere else in the game. They took out create a player in Madden to force people to play Superstar Mode. Which has more microtransactions. That is the real reason they took out create a player in both games.
This is why gaming is so bad now..just greed and a bad product.
It actually a legal reason the NBA NFL and other major sports leagues have player unions. Every player in the league is covered. NCAA does not have that so they have to just make blanket offers like they did which was $500 and a copy of the game and You’re in if you say no, they had to make it impossible for you to make that player so arch Manning on the game because he didn’t want to be the person that Edwin when they play his Texas just put him as a starter over Quinn Ewer, you can put in arch Manning no matter how much you try.

The list goes on. If it was a name issue, then filter out names that aren't allowed to be used. Don't take out the feature completely. But I personally think it's to subtle in microtransactions like they did with Madden this year. Next NCAA game will have their own MyPlayer mode with microtransactions.

I exclusively play single-player and the new dynasty and RtG have given me a bunch to do so far. The commentary, lack of polish, and the drum music are the worst things for me. I agree. They tweaked gameplay a bit. It's still fun but things like onside kicks were nerfed hard, and player movement was even more fluid before

I love CFB25, but two things are driving me crazy:
-wear and tear on my running backs is ridiculous. They become ineffective by halftime, yet the game rarely auto-subs-in the backup (and usually only for a single play when it does)
-individual offensive linemen are often completely insane, failing to block anyone at all in the run game, and sometimes running far down the field past a bunch of defenders. I can't tell whether this is a bug or if they're just suffering from mental errors due to low AWR
10:10 there is a way to select offense and defense only before loading into the game though.
5/10 for me. Experienced a lot of buggy gameplay and several crashes. Lost an entire Dynasty save because of it. Logic is completely busted. If this is the best EA can offer after several years I shudder to think what next year's game brings

I respect the amount of work some devs had to do gathering all the uniforms, fight songs, stadiums, etc. That's an insane volume of work. But clearly leadership is still pushing them to recycle the same shitty gameplay with a nicer looking coat of paint on top
They need to really update Dynasty's Custom Conference Rules. You only get like 5 options for the Conference Championship stadium and if you do change anything in a Conference like the SEC or B1G, you'll lose the default stadium you play at. also if you customize anything in a conference (for example moving USC and UCLA out of the BIG TEN) all protected rivalries will get flown out the window
They also need to fix the Pac-12 because you either switch all the teams back or you leave it as a 2 team conference. There needs to be an option to remove it and move WSU and OSU to another conference.

Most of the critiques were also in 14, like limited RTG playcalling, conference schedules locked, no way to view past season history, etc
I would love to see a lot of what you mentioned in future titles, but I think it’s safe to say EA knocked this one out the water vs Madden 25, and deserves at least a 7.5

the presentation is really bad to be honest, it annoys me how there’s only one cutscene when you play a game. The old NCAA games had differences every time i played a game, from showing lee corso and that panel to showing players warming up, and the commentators giving an overview and prediction. The generic fans look awful as well.
This feels kinda nitpicky tbh. I can still hop in any game mode ( except for ultimate team) and have a few hours worth of fun. So it's still a 9/10 for me.

I feel like it's missing a lot of stuff I enjoyed from the PS2 and even PS3 era games. I miss the instant classic score and even the college classics. Mascot mode was a fun thing to have to mess around with too. Also the crowds and sounds don't give me that college feel. I don't know it seems to be missing the charm of the old games we all loved I think.
This the best gameplay we'll ever get on the frostbite engine. There's a lot I love with the game, but there's also a lot that they can improve and do better. Granted this is the first release of CFB on the new gen consoles, so I'll give them slack, these people seem to actually care about the game unlike the people who make Madden. But my biggest issue with the game is that the end of season awards don't make any sense, I played as VT and my edge rusger won the Hesiman with 25 sacks, but yet he didn't win the best edge rusher or d linemen awards, and he didn't even make any all-american team which is annoying. I also don't like the draft results that they give for players, it seems they just base it entirely on a players OVR and doesn't factor in their stats at all.
They definitely need to tune the sim games. I’m playing a mainly sim dynasty with a 94 overall team and lost to an 80 overall Ohio team in the first round of the playoffs.

I agree the game is not the best NCAA game. The coach AI in RTG is very dumb some times. Also I've had one time where I scored a touchdown and the coach goes for 2, took me (QB) out and we fail and when I checked the highlight it says I was in the game and missed a pass. I should play every snap I am on the field.
That being said, I am still having fun. My grade is pretty similar. I would give a 7-7.5
One thing I have noticed while playing RTG as a running back is I always get subbed out going into the red zone. So even if I am the #1 running back in the country I barely score any TDs. Its so annoying
It depends on the teams offense. Some teams have a different HB when in the red zone, when it’s 3rd down, and when the first down is short in yards. It could be the team you’re playing for. It’s the scheme

It's an improvement from Madden but at the end of the day it's another soulless sports game that has the benefit of being the first of it's kind (debatable) in a decade.

Honestly I could not for the life of me understand why people were giving this game such high review scores upon release. I knew this widespread re-evaluation would happen. It’s a fun but seriously flawed game. And if anyone thinks for a second that EA is going to keep adding meaningful features as the years go on… Well, I’ve got the last 15 years of Madden I’d like to show you. This current version of CFB is about as good as it’s going to get.
It's very easy to understand why. You have to factor in the fact a lot of people who bought CFB 25 have long stopped playing Madden. Heck, the last Madden I got was 18. So when it finally comes to a football game that's new and has actual hype around it. For instance, a game people were waiting nearly a decade for, people are going to get caught up in the hype. There may be glaring issues that cynical people like you or me will see. But we're not the average person. So when people finally get their hands on it and it to an extent does meet expectations. They'll likely be inclined to overblow just how good the game is. This happens all the time in entertainment. It's still a good game and certainly a step above Madden, but ya it's definitely not some masterpiece that people initially were painting it as. Hopefully in future titles more depth will be added, but we all know the odds of that happening are as bout as good as DJ Uiagalelei actually being a good QB.
Yeah, tbh it was probably the mosy hyped annual sports video game release in awhile, because it was sidelined for special circumstances (NIL, pay, etc). The demand always existed.

Number 1 thing I hate about CFB 25 is stadium pulse if you play on the road your at such a disadvantage I have had moments were I can’t see my routes as the QB witch aggravates tf out of me and when I audible my QB has question mark over his head when I am the one changing the play is ridiculous I can understand WR or TE doing that hell even RB if I decide to throw to him I can deal with the route moving and shaking that’s fine but not being able to see who to throw to especially in a panic scrambling situation makes me want to uninstall the game and with RTG you can’t audible at all unless you’re in hurry up and coach calls the worst plays I remember I almost lost national championship game because my coach thought it was a good idea to run the ball on 4 and 10 and other thing they always take you off the field if you don’t convert on 3rd down and I don’t like how there is no high school for RTG ncaa 14 was such a better game they had Heisman mode and mascot game mode I never really cared about dynasty in any of the games tbh so I don’t have a opinion on that play now and RTG has always been my favorite modes and kicking meter I don’t really like how fast it is and how that yellow line isn’t in the game to help guide the ball in for the field goal all in all I give the game 6.5/10 or 7/10 if stadium pulse was like momentum from madden then I could care less but stadium pulse is game breaking and makes me not want to play at all

Honestly, a lot of my love for football video games comes from the schematic side. I enjoy developing a playbook identity, scouting an opponent, creating an actual play-call sheet for different games, scripting my opening drive, calling both sides of the ball efficiently, making adjustments where needed…that’s the side of football that appeals to me.
Dynasty is lackluster in many respects. I’m not a huge recruiter, personally, because I prefer just filling out my team needs and adapting my scheme to fit my personnel (like an actual coach). I do wish the “lore” and storylines were more fleshed out, but again, that’s not really why I’m playing…
NFL 2K5 is still the most realistic on the field, but the sheer schematic depth of CFB 25 is wonderful. I’m having an absolute blast in that regard! I totally understand where others are coming from, though. We all love college football, but we all appreciate the sport itself and the video games for different reasons.

I'm hating for both because everyone said it was just the hype for the new college football game and he said that wasn't the case, and now that the hype cycle has faded (and everyone bought their copies already) it turns out we were right all along.
Hard to trust the opinion of a reviewer when their review when most people are deciding whether or not to purchase is glowing, and when most people have already committed money and realized it's not that great they change their tune. It's similar to FudgeMuppet's review of Starfield talking about how amazing it was, and then completely dropping the game for 6 months and going back to Fallout 4 videos.

Honestly I just got the game and if you do remove all the context surrounding it, yeah its absolutely more fun than the Ps4 Maddens. Animations definitely have more weight and momentum to them and feel more like actual physics, movement isn't too bad, the crowd and stadium environment feels like a proper atmosphere, I haven't noticed any bs glitching so far, but don't take my word for that one.
On its own, it at least makes me want to come back to it unlike Madden 19 (the last one I bought). There's potential, and actual improvement from the PS4 Madden era. But we need to keep seeing a leap like this in successive games, and we all know how that will end when there's a monopoly.
You’re mistaken. EA has an exclusive deal with the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC). In other words, no other developer can make a college game that has official teams, uniforms, stadiums, etc. It’s fundamentally no different than the deal that EA has with the NFL. Also,this game lacks the wow factor. It’s underwhelming, especially considering how long the fan base has waited for its return.
But it is. That only goes for college football and not every college sport.

The way I look at it is this. In the moment, in the "play now" style game it is fun. Against a buddy for a game or two is really fun. When you dive into Dynasty or other modes that have deep mechanics, that is the problems. Tons of issues where you can't find stats, tons of glitches, the pathetic sim engine, repeated lines over and over, it comes off as really pretty with absolutely no depth.
I just bought college football this morning before heading out to work. It was installing as I left the house. This is the first ea sports title I purchased since madden 18 which was garbage. Last time before that, was ncaa 2006. You just putting college fb 25 in the same breath as ncaa 2006 sold it. Even if it's not as in depth as 2006, just being fun and exciting to play puts it up there as one of the best ea sports titles of the last 20 years. Hate me all you want but I honestly can't wait to play it after work. It's been too long since the last time I took the Ohio Bobcats on a 4-peat. 😆 🤣

I’m doing an Army dynasty currently and the most annoying glitch is if you use “rocket toss” out of any formation the game doesn’t register your rush attempt, yards, or TD’s. It’s one of my favorite plays and a staple of Army’s wishbone offense and I literally can’t call it anymore. Such BS

Dynasty should be updated regularly similar to the way GTA Online is maintained. Offline Dynasty Coaches shouldn't cap at 50. For the love of if gawd, permit number changes for anyone that we've recruited or, allow us to assign numbers.
That point you made about the schedule changes, it's actually really funny because in NCAA Football 99, you could schedule any team to play any team on any week. If you broke the scheduling rules it would warn you, but you could choose to change the schedule to meet the NCAA conference requirements, or you could choose to overrule the NCAA and ppay with that wacky schedule. I made a season with completely randomized schedules. It took a while but it was fun :)
I gave the game an 8.5 after 2 days. Now hundreds of hours later 7.75. I really like it. Sure, a few bad things like the inability to sub on the fly but I love it

Everything is a matter of perspective, I haven't bought an EA sports game since Fifa 21/Madden 21 and the pure joy I had for the first week of EA sports college Football 25 cannot be described. I bought CFB25 because of your first review. All the stuff you brought up in this video was a bit disappointing to find... But since i purchaced this game in July i havent been able to put it down lol. The game being fun matters more than dynasty features. However, if CFB26 releases with minor upgrades to this game... You are so right upgrading players in Road to Glory is way too slow. I started with an OVR 67 player. He is still on the bench after two years at OU. I have his skills up to 80 across the board with good grades. And he just sits on the bench. So I just have to Sim every game.
I would think they could have a starting QB get hurt for a week so I can get some gameplay in. I think I will be on the field by the 4th year, but this is taking a long time. That's 2.5 years of sim games I did in one night of being a couch potato.
I think I heard that you are saying there will only be 3 plays to select from during a Road to Glory game. Did I understand that correctly?
With that said, yes, the gameplay is definitely fun. I just want more of it. And like you have said the upgrades are way too slow. Another thing that I would point out is "Where is the online manual?" I could not find one anywhere. I watched the tutorial videos on TH-cam. But I much prefer a more detailed online manual. If you know where one is, let me know.
One more point the ability to customize a players appearance is too limited. Tiger Woods Golf 2005 allowed you to adjust appearances much more precisely for like the nose, eyes, chin, jaw and ears, etc. Also, I cannot be bald in College Football 25. Those are some of the negatives But again, the gameplay is fun. I certainly enjoy that aspect so far. Because I came for gameplay. I came for the Sport.
Also, this is a sports game do we need a DEI lecture upon setting up the game. DEI statements are designed to cause division and marginalize biblical thinking. Those types of statements reject biblical truth in love. Statements like these are not grounded in biblical truth. They are not welcoming to everyone especially Jesus and His ways. These statements can only cause division among people.
What people need is the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His way, His truth and His life. People should go to Jesus Christ and His Word for how to truly love people rightly in righteousness. Most importantly read the Bible. Then, you will help people if you want to truly love.
If you are interested, look up Marxism and Social Justice and how that changed South America into Communist nations. They turn people against each other by marginalizing certain groups and elevating other groups above the rest. That is what DEI is all about. Political Correctness to silence good speech and right speech.
Most people will never study the history of these things. But they should. With that said, sure talk about getting along with each other in a dialog box when setting up the game. I'm all for sportmanship, but drop the Marxist DEI groups against groups stuff. And address sportmanship from true love, biblical love. You will be the right person for loving the way Jesus loves.
What is biblically right and wrong is what is important. That is truth in love. So that people are led in the right biblical loving way.
This way we know how to show sportmanship, be kind and have fun with our friends online in the godly way without a lecture taken from a Marxist playbook. I think your revision is spot on. I went through the same set of emotions. I was so happy to finally get this game after 10 years that I overrated it. The good thing is it's not a bad game at all and fun to play, just needs some polish. There are weird things still in the game. Playing 'Moments' is a fun way to get through things quickly, but is it just me, or do they not show you the distance to go when you choose your plays? Like it will say it's a big third down, but it doesn't say if it's 3rd and 10 or 3rd and 1. So I have to select a play sight unseen.

Solid return to an old title that we’ve wanted for years and they took time & years to make it that shows effort. Give them time to improve on it for more years as it continues. They can’t do everything in one full swing. Great video bro.
Gave it a 9/10 on first review probably off just sheer excitement and happiness over it being out in the first place would probably give it a 7.5/10 now flawed but I still enjoy playing it and the first big patch definitely improved some of the bugs and cheese from the game.
Honestly my day 1 experience with cfb 25 is that i was pretty disappointed. Yes i was having fun on the game, and i was happy to have a new cfb game, but was still disappointed at some of the major issues and madden-isms of the gameplay. And as i played more over the next few weeks, i kept getting more frustrated with simple things that shouldve been fixed 2 years ago in development.
I personally rated it a 6/10 and i felt like i was losing my mind because everywhere i went online people were saying 9/10 and saying it was easily the best cfb game ever

A 6.5 out of 10 is a fair score, in my opinion. I was very happy that EA Sports finally put out a game in which the gameplay was actually decent but the lack of depth and some of the features in CFB25 being barebones should definitely be noteworthy. And yes, the bugs... I still notice defenders super-skating from one area of the field to another in order to participate in a tackle animation; the Road to Glory play selection needs to be improved, whether it be the amount of changes a gamer is provided in a game or to provide gamers more plays during a down albeit if limited (perhaps a rotation of 3 plays to choose from, for example).
But for me, the most glaring omission in the game is Create-a-School feature aka Team Builder. If the current process will continue then the website needs to be improved. But honestly I'd like to see this being added into the game. Imagine the current game with the inclusion of Create-a-School? That would certainly add more gametime for players to immerse themselves rather than going from computer to console, then perhaps back to computer for any adjustments, before finally going back to the console.

Good foundational title, the pieces are there, great gameplay and presentation is solid. However legacy issues are still there and the overall lack of depth holds it back. The game WAS fun but that honeymoon period faded fast. I think most people were just excited for a new CFB game. It’s dead now, there just not much to do in the game with so many restrictions….
10:15 you can choose to play only offense or defense pre game. You go to the bottom in the play game menu and scroll across from “play full game”
The sim logic and the overall glitch is what's killing it for me, when I have to calculate overalls and force wins to have a realistic experience, it's not fun for me

@Thetallguy_zz the calculations for the overalls are all over the place it leans heavily on backups which shouldn't be the case, it should only take starters and a couple choice backups in consideration, but the cpu overalls wont change at all, like for example colorado is a 84 overall, but after the first year travis hunter and sanders leave as well as most of their core and they kinda suck after that but they will stay a 84 and not change, and other teams will get better but not change, texas state for example is a 78 overall on it but in my save years later everyone of the team is 85 overall and up and most are in the 90s but they still only show as a 78 overall

I mean... just play NCAA Football 06 -> Madden 06. Why pay a premium+ price for a shit game when you can just keep playing the best NCAA -> NFL combo in video game history?
I get why a youtuber who covers NCAA/Madden/EA Sports/sports video games covers this shit... but why is anybody buying and playing this shit if it's not their job?!? NCAA Football 06, Madden 06, NHL 13, NBA 2k19... mileage may vary here and there, but by now, how has everybody not learned their lesson yet? STOP GIVING EA YOUR MONEY!!!
Why is everyone hating on CFB 25? The game isn't that bad. They just need some patches and tweaks for the gameplay so it can be enhanced and realistic. They just need to add more content and less clunkiness. Hopefully EA sports can bring the PC port of it next year.
