It sure has changed a hell of a lot since I was last through there, 36 years ago this week. (July 2, 1985, to be precise.)

Thank you!!! It was fun having a chance to share the views of Philadelphia Airport with the world. I’ll be uploading a terminal walkthrough of terminal 2 at Boston shortly!!!

I know PHL isn't the best or most impressive airport in the world by any stretch but it's home and I love it and in my lifetime Philly has really started to transform into a world class city and was even just voted #1 place to visit in 2020 by Nat Geo

PHL has indeed over time become a real World Class facility. Though Florida is my home I have flown through PHL since back in the mid 60’s and watched it transform into what it is now and am really amazed at what they have done over time and with a limited amount of real estate to work with. It is such a great place to fly in and out of.

@@pilotincmnd1867 Yeah, I actually fly at least once or twice a year from PHL to RSW (Fort Myers) to visit my dad at his winter place in Naples which I love. It's apparently one of the most desirable places to live in Florida and downtown is so nice with great restaurants and decent nightlife, granted the people are definitely older, me being 26. Also because it's a wealthy area so some of the people can be really stuck up and just obliviously in their own world which really clashes with my Philly sensibilities. I end up making friends with a lot of the waiters, waitresses, and bartenders that are more my age and will go to some of the more local younger scene places with them the nights when I'm not going to the more expensive places with my dad and all of his retired friends.

@@L33tSkE3t, that’s great! RSW is another airport that has changed a lot to over the years. At one time the original terminal there was on the north side of the field which was later changed to the new terminal on the south side of the airport, quite an improvement there. I’m just about 20 miles or so north of the Tampa Bay Area situated here right along the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico in fact the Gulf is only about 300 feet from my back door here so TPA is my home airport here which also mad huge changes over the years. The original terminal building here originally was located on the southeast side of the field until the new terminal complex was opened in the early 70’s where it stands now between the North/South parallel runways. PHL really established itself as a great facility when US Air came to be and the company decided to drop PIT as a focus city that was a leftover from the old Allegheny days and move everything over to PHL. It was a great thing for the Philadelphia area and a great location to bring people to, so rich in culture and history, Philadelphia and the surrounding areas are great places to live and visit. Hopefully once travel restrictions are lifted PHL will thrive again soon, I know I’m looking forward to flying through there many times ahead.

@@pilotincmnd1867 Awesome, very cool. I have always noticed traversing through RSW that for a relatively small Domestic Airport it is laid out pretty well. Actually if you look at it from an arial view it's laid out very similarly to PHL with a connecting corridor that has access to each gate in that the Three main gate concourses of RSW all originate from a single entry point and as were there are seperate entrance Gates for each airlines at PHL, you can easily traverse them through the connected corridor once you get past security and after landing it's a straight shot through and then down to baggage claim and then to various modes of transport. RSW may be nothing extravagant but it's really simple in it's layout which just makes it effortless to navigate. I never have had to do this but I imagine transferring through it to a connection would be really simple and it's always very clean with a lot of natural light and high ceilings makes it feel pretty modern and airy. It's the small things like that really that just make a journey much better.
