Finally someone else that loves Tale of Two Towns! It's sooooo underrated. All of the characters are so loveable and the design and graphics are my favorite of all the games. Only problem I have with it is you can only do one upgrade request per category per month. It's a slow game but so cute and fun.

I wanted to like it so bad but couldn’t get around ‘choosing’ either town’s philosophy. Picked up SoS: Trio of towns recently and oh my god its everything I wanted from a modern HM game
@@MO-zk8qs That's so fair. I didn't mind choosing a town because you can open the tunnel and travel easily between and I liked just focusing on crops or ranching as I can get overwhelmed. You can also eventually buy the house in the other town so you can have both and unlock what the whole game has to offer. After playing a bit of trio of towns, objectively it is a better game... but nothing will compare to the charm and nostalgia of ToTT!

Animal Parade and HM DS Cute are my absolute favorites and I know you're a real one when you threw in Grand Bazaar...I feel like that one is so underrated. The GBA (More) Friends of Mineral Town is so cute and satisfying! I kind of wish the 2020 version had the same pixel visuals with the updated menu and controls. My nostalgia for the N64 and GBA era of HM/SOS is so strong! I wish they'd make HM64 with improved menu functions. A pain to play but I love the villager dynamics. They're different than Mineral Town despite having the same cast.

My little brother has only played a few of my Harvest Moon games, but A New Beginning is his favorite. We lost this cartridge a while ago and he was UPSET (even though it’s my game 😂). Now I can tell him that he’s a man or fine taste! My favorite was Grand Bazaar, my childhood favorite was Magical Melody, and I’m really fond of Animal Parade and Tale of Two Towns
I remember getting animal parade at a used video game store back in 2011, and ooOOOOOH MAAAAN! I poured SO many hours into that game lol I'd stay up until nearly 5AM playing, and researched how to woo one of the hardest bachelor's in the game 😅

Harvest Moon DS Cute was my first Harvest Moon game too! ☺️ I agree that the bachelors weren't great tho...I ended up getting the Mineral Town bachelors to visit and married Gray. My favorite game out of the ones ive played (a lot) has gotta be Animal Parade. I just love the marriage candidates and all the animals you can adopt! And having two children is awesome! 💕

Aaa i’m so happy someone finally mentioned Grand Bazaar! It’s my first (and only, so far) HM game and so rarely talked about it’s criminal. I’ve been on the fence about getting Sunshine islands for yrs now, idk how good it is. Just a tip, if you’re thinking of recording more gameplay footage on the DS I’ve heard you can get someone to do a capture card installation on the 3DS. There’s more info online about it on forums. It’s kinda complicated and apparently a little costly, but beats having to hold a separate camera in front to film while playing!

I'm glad my algo is giving me harvest moon content now lol. I remember playing Harvest Moon AWL all summer one year when I was like, 6 or 7. It was always such a nostalgic game for me, even before I could really experience nostalgia. I kinda always got this wistfulness while playing, and to this day some soundtracks or scenes bring me right back hahaha.

My first HM game of as Grand Bizarre! I was clueless and when I got married and the credits rolled, i thought I finished the game. I was so confused. I pulled it out and sold it! I have since repurchased it and it is so cute!
Solid list! I played a lot of HM 3D and the first SoS, loved them for a while but always wanted more oomph in the characters and system. Just picked SoS: Trio of Towns and its like THE culmination of everything I wanted. Beautiful graphics, dynamic farm system, incredible bachelors, tons of charm from the characters, just peak peak peak. I know people like to get cozy and chill with these games, but if you’re like me and LIVE for the hustle and bustle, please pick up ToT 😮💨🙏
Have you played any of the Rune Factory game develop by Marvelous. It’s just like Harvest moon/story of seasons games but has fighting in it(not to hard similar to stardew valley fighting) Instead of buy farm animals you can tame monsters to collect milk, eggs, etc. But you can also have your tame monsters water and harvest your crops. Or they can follow you and help fight. I love these games maybe a bit more than I did harvest moon games.
Oh no, I love Three Towns. My absolute boo is on there! I love Ford so much! Socially awkward doctor with glasses is my main goober! I love how there’s missions and a story of trying to prove to your dad that you can make it happen! I only wish I had know Ford was the one for me while I was still working through the story. If I replay this, I’m marrying him as soon as possible. I do wish they had different parent characters to match your character as my character was in the darkest skin tone. Family of blonde, blue eyed peeps and theres me…i was adopted?
Island of Happiness is my favorite - Once you get used to the controls, everything flows naturally. Ship out rocks, miners show up. Ship fish, fishermen come. Inns and Hotels open, etc... And the sun/water system gave a real challenge to farming.
One I loved as a kid, and doesn't get enough mention, is Save the Homeland. It wasn't a great game, but it had such a unique chill vibe to it. And it was the only Harvest Moon game that I played where you can do part-time jobs on a day to day basis.
Played the original Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life on Gamecube wayyyy back in the day and recently started playing the Story of Seasons Remake and I adore it. One of the coziest comfiest series ever. It has all the stuff I would enjoy from Animal Crossing without having to wait real life time!
Magical melody was one of my favourite hm games as a kid, i thought it was sooo fun, i wish theyd remake it for the switch or make something similar I just really liked the to do list to help the harveer goddess, i hope that even if they dont remake magical melody, they have one of those kinds of storylines! Id watch a worst harvest moom games video!! Hahaha
My first harvest moon was A wonderful life. It's very sentimental to me because of HOW i got it. I even still have my original copy and my original memory card. I got it from blockbuster for a week, and at the end i was SO sad to give it up. I kept wanting to delete my save because i thought i was never going to get it again. That christmas when my dad was overseas and i was at my grandparents, i got it! He'd had it delivered at some point. During that borrowed week, i couldnt find the feed deposite/withdraw box and my cow died 😅. I was so shocked and upset, but i knew it was my fault. The game doesnt tell you where it is, and i didnt know i could go that far left. Also, about the special edition version of it, DONT PLAY IT 😂. Sure it has some quality of life improvements, but it also has movement and visual glitches that ruin the experience. In both that one and the SoS Remake, i hate that you can marry Lumina. I get that shes 18 in both of these versions, but in the gamecube version she is 14. Its gross.
25:41 Nina is actually a bachelorette for the first Harvest Moon game on the SNES! That was my first game and she was my wife. There’s also a Nina in HM/SoS A Wonderful Life. They’re not canonically the same person, but they’re both Ninas who love flowers, so in my head they’re the same person 🩷
Love your top 5! I still need to play Animal Parade. I had skipped that one and Tree of Tranquility but I bought both a few years back and played ToT and loved it, but I didn't get around to Animal Parade. My top 3 would be 1. Harvest Moon DS (both versions), 2. Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar, 3. Harvest Moon FoMT (both versions and the remake). It's a lot harder for me to pick a 4th and 5th because I don't have as strong of feelings for any of them. I would like to put AWL up there since it was my first as a kid, but it suffers from lack of nice bachelors (although the remake fixed that a little bit). I loved Magical Melody but I never "beat" the game so I feel like I can't really put it on there. Trio of Towns was amazing but there was almost too much stuff to do. The SNES version was very fun and holds up even today. I also surprisingly really loved the 2nd Gameboy game. I'm still hoping they will remake HM:DS but I think it's more likely that they will remake Magical Melody. Either way I'd love to play either of them.
My first Harvest Moon game was Friends of Mineral Town in the 2000s. I really enjoyed the relaxing and cozy aesthetic of that game on the game boy as a child. I may consider purchasing Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town so I can re-live that fun experience on the switch. Watching the gameplay in the original Friends of Mineral Town really took me back.
I grabbed Harvest Moon: Back to Nature on a whim back in 2001. Looked cute and fun and not something I had played. Absolutely adored it and was absolutely bummed to get married in game and have the bugged disc that gave a black screen and no way to progress. Never posted it to Natsume for a replacement. I agree with the point you made on how the relationship candidates can look a little too chibi and childish. When I was a teen it was not so bad, now I am 40 and it is the reason I play Stardew instead as it appears more adult. Anyway, lovely video :)
animal parade is probably my favorite i feel a little it's where the series peaked since shortly after it was the split so i don't think we got console HMs after? i could be wrong. i love the details and world of harmonica town, i love how much there is to do, i love that you can get the other town folks married and they have their own kids, i love the huge variety of marriage candidates and animal colors and. idk i could go on, i literally only have my wii to play animal parade these days lol also i feel like the only person that originally got wonderful life for PS2 XD i never even knew it was for gamecube til i started watching videos like this one lmao. i can see why some might think wonderful life is boring or small, and it could be nostalgia but it's such a good game ;o; i love that it doesn't feel like you get eternity to just farm and then pitter out there is a very real concrete ending to your beautiful little farm life probably my loss, i really could never get into the DS HMs, i just never got comfy with the styles or feel of the DS for HMs, def preference for the console ones.
Grand bazaar was the first one I got addicted to because the crafting reminded me of the rune factory spinoffs I love. Animal parade is one of the few I actually finished the story for. Futuristic harvest moon for psp and a new beginning 3ds are the other two. I love all of the 3ds games but not any of the switch ones.
I've never played Stardew Valley, but I still play Harvest Moon & Story of Seasons (I don't just play Pokémon). I'm actually playing Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town right now 😊.

Should totally try the original SNES game! You'd be surprised how much of the farming/community mechanic is established in the very first game! Also, HM64 is a continuation, with the townfolk being the children and grandchildren of the characters in the SNES game.
SNES was my first harvest moon game I played. Being able to married someone was so new and intriguing as a teenager. Never played the n64 version so didn’t know about the story continuation.
OG Harvest Moon on SNES nostalgia got me in a choke hold, glitches and all. It was the first of its kind and so many of the game mechanics was hidden from the player. Learning through discovery can be so satisfying.
Oh, I’ve also played A New Beginning soooooo much! One of my favorites as well. The only thing is that everything is kind of slow. I consider the first Story of Seasons -my favorite!- to be an improved version of ANB. You should try playing it some more =]
Very based list, my favorites Trio of Towns, Animal Parade, and Friends of Mineral town. I did really like a new beginning, but went a little too much having to build up town, felt like it was pointless progression. And SoS and Trio of towns did it better.

My favorite harvest moon game is back to nature thats the one friends of mineral town and more friends is based on and its your grandfather's farm that you inherited. For me no harvest moon beats the nostalgia of back to nature
I've been playing since Back to Nature on PlayStation. I basically only play cozy farming games, including Stardew. I do think one under rated game was Tree of Tranquility. Although it has its unconventional game play, it has its good points too.
I've loved harvest moon for forever but I have trouble liking some of the newer games they feel more... empty somehow but I do still own most of them and I try playing them very once and a while lol. I'm replaying the og story of seasons and tree of tranquility. I deffo was a Wii girlie my favorites are Animal Parade and Tree of Tranquility lol but Ds cute was a close 3rd to those two.
Maybe I need to try New Beginning again. I married the older guy. I didnt get the appeal of Neil at the time. I didnt understand tsundere. Now I do! My first tsundere was Raven in RF 3 and she is love. She is love!❤️

I love how there’s missions and a story of trying to prove to your dad that you can make it happen! I only wish I had know Ford was the one for me while I was still working through the story. If I replay this, I’m marrying him as soon as possible. I do wish they had different parent characters to match your character as my character was in the darkest skin tone. Family of blonde, blue eyed peeps and theres me…i was adopted?
Island of Happiness is my favorite - Once you get used to the controls, everything flows naturally. Ship out rocks, miners show up. Ship fish, fishermen come. Inns and Hotels open, etc... And the sun/water system gave a real challenge to farming.
One I loved as a kid, and doesn't get enough mention, is Save the Homeland.
It wasn't a great game, but it had such a unique chill vibe to it. And it was the only Harvest Moon game that I played where you can do part-time jobs on a day to day basis.
Played the original Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life on Gamecube wayyyy back in the day and recently started playing the Story of Seasons Remake and I adore it. One of the coziest comfiest series ever. It has all the stuff I would enjoy from Animal Crossing without having to wait real life time!
Magical melody was one of my favourite hm games as a kid, i thought it was sooo fun, i wish theyd remake it for the switch or make something similar
I just really liked the to do list to help the harveer goddess, i hope that even if they dont remake magical melody, they have one of those kinds of storylines!

My first harvest moon was A wonderful life. It's very sentimental to me because of HOW i got it. I even still have my original copy and my original memory card. I got it from blockbuster for a week, and at the end i was SO sad to give it up. I kept wanting to delete my save because i thought i was never going to get it again. That christmas when my dad was overseas and i was at my grandparents, i got it! He'd had it delivered at some point. During that borrowed week, i couldnt find the feed deposite/withdraw box and my cow died 😅. I was so shocked and upset, but i knew it was my fault. The game doesnt tell you where it is, and i didnt know i could go that far left.
Also, about the special edition version of it, DONT PLAY IT 😂. Sure it has some quality of life improvements, but it also has movement and visual glitches that ruin the experience.
In both that one and the SoS Remake, i hate that you can marry Lumina. I get that shes 18 in both of these versions, but in the gamecube version she is 14. Its gross.
25:41 Nina is actually a bachelorette for the first Harvest Moon game on the SNES! That was my first game and she was my wife. There’s also a Nina in HM/SoS A Wonderful Life. They’re not canonically the same person, but they’re both Ninas who love flowers, so in my head they’re the same person 🩷

Love your top 5! I still need to play Animal Parade. I had skipped that one and Tree of Tranquility but I bought both a few years back and played ToT and loved it, but I didn't get around to Animal Parade. My top 3 would be 1. Harvest Moon DS (both versions), 2. Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar, 3. Harvest Moon FoMT (both versions and the remake).
It's a lot harder for me to pick a 4th and 5th because I don't have as strong of feelings for any of them. I would like to put AWL up there since it was my first as a kid, but it suffers from lack of nice bachelors (although the remake fixed that a little bit). I loved Magical Melody but I never "beat" the game so I feel like I can't really put it on there. Trio of Towns was amazing but there was almost too much stuff to do. The SNES version was very fun and holds up even today. I also surprisingly really loved the 2nd Gameboy game.
I'm still hoping they will remake HM:DS but I think it's more likely that they will remake Magical Melody. Either way I'd love to play either of them.
My first Harvest Moon game was Friends of Mineral Town in the 2000s. I really enjoyed the relaxing and cozy aesthetic of that game on the game boy as a child. I may consider purchasing Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town so I can re-live that fun experience on the switch. Watching the gameplay in the original Friends of Mineral Town really took me back.

I grabbed Harvest Moon: Back to Nature on a whim back in 2001. Looked cute and fun and not something I had played. Absolutely adored it and was absolutely bummed to get married in game and have the bugged disc that gave a black screen and no way to progress. Never posted it to Natsume for a replacement. I agree with the point you made on how the relationship candidates can look a little too chibi and childish. When I was a teen it was not so bad, now I am 40 and it is the reason I play Stardew instead as it appears more adult.

animal parade is probably my favorite i feel a little it's where the series peaked since shortly after it was the split so i don't think we got console HMs after? i could be wrong. i love the details and world of harmonica town, i love how much there is to do, i love that you can get the other town folks married and they have their own kids, i love the huge variety of marriage candidates and animal colors and. idk i could go on, i literally only have my wii to play animal parade these days lol
also i feel like the only person that originally got wonderful life for PS2 XD i never even knew it was for gamecube til i started watching videos like this one lmao. i can see why some might think wonderful life is boring or small, and it could be nostalgia but it's such a good game ;o; i love that it doesn't feel like you get eternity to just farm and then pitter out there is a very real concrete ending to your beautiful little farm life
probably my loss, i really could never get into the DS HMs, i just never got comfy with the styles or feel of the DS for HMs, def preference for the console ones.

Grand bazaar was the first one I got addicted to because the crafting reminded me of the rune factory spinoffs I love. Animal parade is one of the few I actually finished the story for. Futuristic harvest moon for psp and a new beginning 3ds are the other two. I love all of the 3ds games but not any of the switch ones.
I've never played Stardew Valley, but I still play Harvest Moon & Story of Seasons (I don't just play Pokémon). I'm actually playing Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town right now 😊.

Pretty informative video. I used to play Harvest Moon a lot, but like the gameboy games and the original SNES of course. Just one slight complaint: not even an honorable mention for the N64 game? That one I played a lot too and it was pretty engaging.

Should totally try the original SNES game! You'd be surprised how much of the farming/community mechanic is established in the very first game! Also, HM64 is a continuation, with the townfolk being the children and grandchildren of the characters in the SNES game.
SNES was my first harvest moon game I played. Being able to married someone was so new and intriguing as a teenager. Never played the n64 version so didn’t know about the story continuation.
OG Harvest Moon on SNES nostalgia got me in a choke hold, glitches and all. It was the first of its kind and so many of the game mechanics was hidden from the player. Learning through discovery can be so satisfying.
Oh, I’ve also played A New Beginning soooooo much! One of my favorites as well. The only thing is that everything is kind of slow.
I consider the first Story of Seasons -my favorite!- to be an improved version of ANB. You should try playing it some more =]

Very based list, my favorites Trio of Towns, Animal Parade, and Friends of Mineral town. I did really like a new beginning, but went a little too much having to build up town, felt like it was pointless progression. And SoS and Trio of towns did it better.
Harvest moon 64 is the one I played first that got me hooked. I enjoyed a wonderful life on GameCube as well. The new ones arent the same.

My favorite harvest moon game is back to nature thats the one friends of mineral town and more friends is based on and its your grandfather's farm that you inherited. For me no harvest moon beats the nostalgia of back to nature

I've been playing since Back to Nature on PlayStation. I basically only play cozy farming games, including Stardew. I do think one under rated game was Tree of Tranquility. Although it has its unconventional game play, it has its good points too.
I've loved harvest moon for forever but I have trouble liking some of the newer games they feel more... empty somehow but I do still own most of them and I try playing them very once and a while lol. I'm replaying the og story of seasons and tree of tranquility.
I deffo was a Wii girlie my favorites are Animal Parade and Tree of Tranquility lol but Ds cute was a close 3rd to those two.
Maybe I need to try New Beginning again. I married the older guy. I didnt get the appeal of Neil at the time. I didnt understand tsundere. Now I do! My first tsundere was Raven in RF 3 and she is love. She is love!❤️
