Well done Lee. Good to watch your videos. What sets you apart from a lot of other dealers is your honesty and you go the extra mile to do the small jobs on cars which would irritate a lot of buyers.
My dad ran a garage and car sales business in Birmingham in the 60s. He always told me not to waste money on cars. Keep the old uns maintained and they will last. Corrosion was the biggest killer then. I have done this and maintained my cars and motorbikes. I have had several 200k petrols of all marques except expensive ones. Citroens Renaults fords Vauxhalls and Toyotas. Had a vw t4 2.4d with 330k and drove perfect but was very rusty. My favourite cars were sierras and Carlton’s. Even at 190k if you blanked out the mileage you couldn’t tell. Of course there’s a time to get rid, but love finding some bangers. Have had a 17 yr old berlingo petrol for 7 yrs and its a brilliant car. Never on my radar but was right price/ mileage. Runs beautifully. No rot. Totally reliable but regularly serviced. When brakes/antifreeze and oils are done, a car feels good. Also keen on suspension rubber refresh at 100k makes huge difference. Do my own so econimallyviable. I think people get rid of their cars far too early. Love watching your channel
As an owner of a 2010 Focus, I don’t blame the new potential owner for loving it straight away, they are great cars. I agree the 1.6 zetec is the sweet spot of the range. They just do everything well.

18:21 would definitely rather have a focus than a KA of the same age for the same price and actually lower mileage - I guess city cars are more in demand so drives up the price
Those ford/mazda 1.8 lumps are oiloholics, so its important to check oil level every 2 weeks. The dip stick can also be tricky to read the level which doesnt help. No low oil warning sensor either. So a lot end up running too low on oil. You will know it burning oil if you run your finger inside the exhaust when its cold. The soot in the exhaust will look like a diesel due to the burnt oil. Once you keep your eye on the oil level and run a cat cleaner additive in the petrol tank every few months to keep cat from blocking it will be fine. I have the same 1.8 engine in an 08 mazda6. Sure the 1.6 dont have the same oil burning issue but they are gutless and have awful gearing.
I have bought a few 1800 petrols with bottom end bearings noisy, down to oil not being checked and running low, I am not a fan of them to be honest, I do agree the gearing on the 1.6 is a little challenging
im 19 year old been driving just shy of 2 years got insured on a 1.5tdci 2015 focus for a reasonable price bearing in mind i had a claim in my first 2 weeks driving so these focuses are surprisingly insureable
Love your channel, been selling cars as long as you with all the ups and downs...basically for a first car get a c1/Aygo/107. Small family car Focus mk2 or mk3. Sports saloon Lexus. Executive car 5 series (i normally deal in those]
Be a bonus if that Toyota Aygo had real good service history, even if it missed a couple of services it'll be great reliable car! Those tyre balancers can go many thousands more just for the all singing all dancing stuff but,you just need to do what the machine is for...basic balancing. Good advice on the diagnostic machines fella, both are real good value & worth getting!
Love the content and video. Got some great stock and the BMW will clean up nicely once you fix the issues you will make some money off it, just a shame it is an auto
Really enjoy your videos Lee. I’m a retired car trader so I feel your pain ! 😂 Your style of being completely open and honest is great in my humble opinion. However…I feel you should explain and include the Vat margin on all sales. You obviously include paint, mechanical and cleaning but leave out the Vat cost ? I feel it would be useful to inform the public of this outrageously unfair and hugely expensive cost that honest dealers like yourself have to suffer ! All the best mate.
What would you say about a 2017 diesel car with 38thou on the clock. It's a euro6, so I worry about the DPF if doing shorter trips. Also have you ever used ZX1 to quieten down noisy diesels?
Never used it but I know what it is, any diesel doing short journeys with a dpf is going to cause issues sadly as they need a run above 50mph once in a while in order to them to regen while driving conditions are met.
now I'd like to see a video called "buying new high mileage cars" :) I always think it's good value for money buying a newish car with a lot of mileage as long as it has full service history and longer interval components like the cambelt have already been replaced. it also means they probably have been doing motorway miles.
@@stuartcreaney1219 that's a crazy deal. Shocking how UK cars depreciate so quickly. I live in Holland and cars here hold value for quite a while. I bought a 200k Audi A3 (2013) for €12.4k. That's 10x more 🙈
Hey Lee, just looking for some advise. Would you recommend buying an old Seat Leon FR CR 2012 but with low mileage 30,000. Am always cautious of an older diesel so wanted your thoughts.
I do really like a Ford Focus but the instrument cluster has a well known fault on them. Sooner or later it will more than likely break. That's because the tracks on the motherboard break so needs to be taken out and sent off to be fixed. Also on the MK1 Focus the high idle revs can be a MOT failure. I actually took mine to a Ford dealership, after trying everything I could think of, and the guys there said they've seen plenty of them like it so know it's down to the onboard computer. Apparently it's another known problem. They said because MK1s are old now it would cost too much to reprogramme considering the worth of the car. Lastly always check underneath when you go to look at one. A couple of years ago I was going to buy one. It drove fine and bodywork was really good. Lucky after the test drive and even though it started raining I got down on the floor and I was so glad I did. It wasn't just rusty... it was made of rust from front to back. A miracle it didn't fall apart. The guy knew as well because before I said anything he said no worries some idiot will buy it without looking underneath.
@@carukchannel saw a guy give 1550 last nite at ABs for a 56k vectra, minimum was a flat battery, little or out of mot as well, that's like probably 2 k done, I've got a nice insignia, 10 plate all up for retail for 1795.but 108k.
Things are looking good mate.....pleased for you👍👍when your free can you pop to Wales and sort this stupid 20mph limit out, you'd be the man for the job😂😂
Great to see your new pitch doing well Lee 😉. Nice to see a couple of nice looking ford focuses on your pitch looking so good for there age. The 2008 C max I have is the 1.8 petrol it's ultra reliable and very economical, I know you don't rate the 1.8 as much as the 1.6. Not keen on the old tractor sounding air polluting smelly diesel's though 😉. Keep up the good work Lee look forward to see how you get on with the BMW also looking forward to your next car auction video.
I was a commercial Loss Adjuster and a few years ago did a claim for a classic car restorer who had broken a Krypton Tune machine ( remember them? He had reversed a car without disconnecting it and it fell into his inspection pit ) there were no parts to fix the thing and in the end we sourced a replacement from a garage in the Netherlands which was closing down and selling off. The stuff he fixed was too old for a OBD port so your wheel balancing machine story struck a chord with me
@@carukchannel spent ages trying to source parts - the guy was desperate as it was vital to his business and in the end we found a new one on the continent - probably couldn't import one now after Brexit lol
fantastic channel just a question will either of the Topdon, either the 600S or the 800BT scanners work on a Saab 9-3, further on I subscribed to your channel find it very interesting
The ABS sensor is the worrying one that will make it go in to limp mode on this bmw believe me, cost me a 1000 pound for two new drive shafts in the trade, its a commen fault my friend, the drive shafts rust and make the ABS rings rise contacting the ABS sensors, no way around it mate, really expensive job, just helping you out 👍 love your vidios 👍 and like my own experiences the nut on the end of the drive shafts won't exist anymore they will be rusty as hell, just a heads up mate 👍
Great update video. Topdon looks top quality! Good to see your knowledge of your stock and their issues. As always you look to send the cars out ‘right’. Not many dealers would do that. Looks like you need to get to it over the next week to sort out them cars and get them generating cash. Good luck. Dave Birmingham
We have an apprentice at work, he wrote off his Corsa. Now bought that shape Focus, his is a diesel. He’s only 18, don’t know what he pays in insurance.
Enjoy these videos, honest and review affordable cars. Btw, how do transport some of these cars back? Im from Crewe myself and often transport cars from Prees in my truck.
Low mileage older motors are bargains, sure it'd be nice to run the latest cars but I'm not laying out 10k+ to get to work. Just picked up a Focus cc 2.0tdci 74k, two owners, 12 stamps in the service book for £1190. Didn't want a convertible but bought it based on price and mileage. Cheap motoring.
some scan tools show mileage in KM . I've also had a shock moment when I scanned my BM, then realized it was KM not Miles :) divide / multiply by about 1.6
You'll probably find the corsa will run better with a new chain, as you'll know a stretched chain alters the crank cam timing, they tend to surge when chain is stretched, maybe as valves aren't opening right that's affecting the mixture and ecu is trying to compansate, any issues ecu with always go rich to protect the engine.
@@carukchannel on vauxhalls if you can't get reverse just pull the gater up and take a bit off the plastic stop with a file, done loads, astra, corsa, zafira mate.
Hi love the channel mate, I’m currently thinking of going to an action next week, I’m I right in thinking the fees on a van that say ended at 3500 plus 15% fee on the hammer and then the 20% VAT is the VAT on top of the hammer fee or on top of price when fee as been added 4725 in total would that be right 🤔
What the heck happened to BMW? Have a 3.3 Alpina E39 with a lovely six and peerless build, not really gone wrong either, that 3 might as well be a Mondeo.Agree the mk2 facelift Focus is a top car, ahead of the Golf Megane and Astra, used to sell the 1.6 to fleets and plenty going strong at 200,000 miles and just so nice to drive.
I bought a low mileage Ford Fiesta, 33000 miles , formerly owned by a 91 year old man, after the first week the engine blew up, it could not stand the stress of my 600 mile a week commute, sadly the perfect condition car went to the scrapyard
Sorry to hear this . Last year we looked at an immaculate Ford BMax , way overpriced at a dealership imo . What put us off though was similar to yourself . Low mileage , elderly owner , spent more time parked then driving. Just could see a load of hassle when we asked the car to be used daily .
you need a catchphrase at the start of each video. i have some suggestions below. 1. Ow Doo punters 2. pop dazlin views, hows tricks ? 3. get a grip man, 4. feast your eye stalks on this.
I have the 800BT, great tool, you forgot to mention free updates for life and if you tap the red fault code and are connected to wifi, it loads up a page showing what to do to fix it, with pictures and.... when are you investing in a sweeping brush?
Your better off with older low mileage tackle mate, people lap em up, got 4200 for a 09 hyundai i110 with 18k on but can't get 5495 for a 19 plate c3 with 108 k on, daft thing is hyundais clutch went (!) and some brake pipes were rotten, while the c3 is like new, you'll not alter peoples ideas tho.
Also by coincidence i was just talking about the 1 litre Ecoboost Focus they are rapid for a 1 litre 9 secs to 60 and 125mph top speed as my friend she has one but £3 grand is too much for me sadly
I thought they were a sealed unit. Is it just drop the pan of it etc from below? We have a 2006 one as well with 150k which is sounding a bit rattly when the gearbox oil is cold, so I think it could do with a service too.
@@andrewmcintosh5914 I did poke my head under the other day and it looked like it had a pan on it with a drainer so should be serviceable, got me thinking now so will double check. However even sealed boxes still can be serviced

What's your thoughts on 2015 Honda CRV 1.6 dtec. Any common issues to look out for?
Great update video. Topdon looks top quality! Good to see your knowledge of your stock and their issues. As always you look to send the cars out ‘right’. Not many dealers would do that. Looks like you need to get to it over the next week to sort out them cars and get them generating cash. Good luck. Dave Birmingham
Thanks dave, yes this week has started well
We have an apprentice at work, he wrote off his Corsa. Now bought that shape Focus, his is a diesel. He’s only 18, don’t know what he pays in insurance.
Sensible choice of car to be fair.
Hi Lee what little auto would you recommend for a new driver, many thanks
Early fiesta pre 2012 non powershift auto box, Hyundai's or Kia's are normally decent in auto,
Thank you Lee👍🏻
Enjoy these videos, honest and review affordable cars.
Btw, how do transport some of these cars back?
Im from Crewe myself and often transport cars from Prees in my truck.
Drive them back on trade plates, or use our recovery truck 👍
No worries dude. 😄
Great job Lee. That BMW would make a nice car
If it was a 325 or 330,otherwise might as well have a Ford or VW
Nice One Lee ,, Keep em coming 👌
Great videos as usual. Just a quick question, where do you find book prices for cars?
Auctions have guides that help, most come from my own knowledge day to day
Low mileage older motors are bargains, sure it'd be nice to run the latest cars but I'm not laying out 10k+ to get to work. Just picked up a Focus cc 2.0tdci 74k, two owners, 12 stamps in the service book for £1190. Didn't want a convertible but bought it based on price and mileage. Cheap motoring.
some scan tools show mileage in KM . I've also had a shock moment when I scanned my BM, then realized it was KM not Miles :) divide / multiply by about 1.6
I have done that too 😂
The colour of the Focus is called Avalon, used to sell them back in 07/08!
Thanks Lloydyboy
Great content Lee 😊
Thank you 🙌
Lee, top video as usuall. What happens October, November, December. Do you find colder temperatures a darker nights affects your sales?
Not sure, only moved in here last month, I will let you know in January 😁
Cool. An Indian summer would be useful. Frosts don't normally come till Christmas. That's when battery sales go up!
Does sound well now royston, although does need a gear linkage kit on it, have a good week bud (y)
@@carukchannel OK bud, thanks, same to you.
@@carukchannel on vauxhalls if you can't get reverse just pull the gater up and take a bit off the plastic stop with a file, done loads, astra, corsa, zafira mate.
Hi love the channel mate, I’m currently thinking of going to an action next week, I’m I right in thinking the fees on a van that say ended at 3500 plus 15% fee on the hammer and then the 20% VAT is the VAT on top of the hammer fee or on top of price when fee as been added 4725 in total would that be right 🤔
Vat would be 20% on the hammer the buyers fee will be added to that figure to make the total
Lee, got the topdon 820bt myself, great bit of kit and you got it at a better price then I paid last year.
Great Lee,the aygo looks smart npw. Whats your exterior lighting going to be like for the winter being round the corner
We do have some flood lights but might be sticking a few more up in the coming month ready for it 💪
hi love the videos and the cars you keep up the good work😀😀
Up and up lee ,great video pal cheers great channel 👍
Hi Lee is that the Topdon 800 BT or 800 BT Pro + thank you
Great video, really interesting.
Thank you!
Good update mate. If anyone deserves success :)
Thanks Mike 👍👍
Enjoy these videos, you need to get a website. 👍🏼
you need a catchphrase at the start of each video. i have some suggestions below.
1. Ow Doo punters
2. pop dazlin views, hows tricks ?
3. get a grip man,
4. feast your eye stalks on this.
Great video
I have the 800BT, great tool, you forgot to mention free updates for life and if you tap the red fault code and are connected to wifi, it loads up a page showing what to do to fix it, with pictures and.... when are you investing in a sweeping brush?
It’s not so much the brush it’s having the time to sweep 🧹 😂
@@carukchannel good reply
Always look forward to your vids. Another great one.
Thanks Ro Gamer
Fuel going back on the bm?
If you come across a decent Yaris T Sport Lee I might be interested, Stew
What is your garage called please, I am looking for a new car and would be interested to see what stock you have thanks 🙏
There's a whole video on that dead bmer. Please!
The 50k focus the pain colour is Avalon blue had one when new for sure was a marmite colour you either loved it or hated it
What's involved in the auto box service for the nissan note?
Simple old school box, drop the oil, replace the internal filter, refill with fresh oil and a additive
Much you getting charged fir a chain I just replaced one with was charged £700
