I remember the first time I played Trainz 2004, then Trainz 2006, Classic, 2009, 2010 and Trainz 12, but all those trainz were pirates, until I was able to buy the Trainz A New Era in 2016: D
My first Trainz was TRS2006. I played that for ages. I later got TS2010. Of the two, I have to say TRS06 was the most fun. TRS2006 will always hold a special place in my heart.
Cool, TRS2006 was my favorite game too, although my first Trainz was Ultimate Trainz Collection. What I really liked was the new content and it included my favorite Australian route, the Razorback Classic. That route I made sessions just to drive on the different parts. I do LIVE stream the Trainz versions I have in my Trainz library since I own almost every version, so if interested that's something to check out

I am TUME (trainzume at TH-cam). I created the Milwaukee Road Avery-Drexel route (released at TS2010 and reworked to full seasonal support at T:ANE), the Municipal Tranist Railway (released at TS12) and the Season Town Northern RR (released at T:ANE). I have been working at this trainz projects since 2001 and so I saw nearly all steps of trainz you descibed in your video. Thank you very much for creating and sharing it. You brought quite a lot things back to my mind.

Thank you very much TUME, I just log in and saw your comment lol. To me, its an honour to have a creator of any kind comment on my channel. To tell you the truth, your Milwaukee Road route is one of my favourite routes, along with a few others that I found on the DLS. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video I put together (and it wasn't that easy as I wanted to share lots of info, and wanted to keep time short). Its like a timeline of Trainz if you ask me featuring the very first to the recent (which was TANE at the time). Now with TMR2017 and TD2016 released, I think they'll have to wait their turn when more get released.
Ah, good old TRS2004. I still have my old copy of it! I don't know if it works for Windows 10, but I'll try it anyway. Its good to relive that nostalgia. It was simple back then. I remember building a route that was a fictional interchange with the CN and the MILW. My all-time favorite locomotive was definitely the DDA40X that was included. I never figured out the DLS or anything of the sort, but I do remember cab muffling, the cab would tilt around corners and the old horn, bell and engine sounds. I still play Trainz to this day with TRS2019 and a boxed T:ANE Dlx. copy. Thanks for making this video! I never had '06 thru '12 or TCE and this showed me how far Trainz really has come.
UTC, here. That UTC intro gave me waves of nostalgia.
I remember waking up when I was 5 years old at 6 every morning, launching Trainz, and sitting back and watching PBS KIds whilst eating a bowl of cereal. After 5 mins (which felt like forever), I'd play for 30 mins before having to leave for school.
I remember not doing much in the game, always mucking about. Scenarios were too hard and never caught my interest. Instead I'd muck about. I actually had a few mods, too!
My father, interestingly enough, found UTC in some Big Lots, and I still have the disc version. I think I'm going to install it on this new PC and play for old times sake.
UTC - 2009 - 2010 - 2012 - T:ANE (just got it last month.)
UTC instilled a love for trains at an early age. I now intern at the nearby short-line railroad we have in town. My, how time flies.
Ah, so you got started with UTC as well - just like me! I was just a kid as well when I got my copy of UTC from Office Max. I have to agree, time sure does fly by. I have the original disk along with my other copies of Trainz that I install once a while to visit that time period.

We should make a Trainz Simulator: Nostalgia Edition, which would just be another release of TS 2010.

long ago i started with Trainz 2006, i played it to have fun and made several bad routes just to drive trains around, now i own Trainz 12 (never play that one though) T:ANE and TMR17 and have become a decent route builder and know a bit about the game and how it works, but i will never forget the 2006 days
Ah yes, that brings back nostalgia. But unfortunately, I didn't have TS2006 (or some other old trainz simulator, rather than TS2009 and TS2010) :( But, I had gotten hands on TS2010 and TS2009 back in 2014, and TS12 later in the same year.
Edit: I got TRS2006 for Christmas this year! :D
Great work man. Really enjoyed this. Had a lot of good memories with Trainz 2006...still remember the day I randomly found it in the store and bought it. Never had any regrets about it. Shame my computer is outdated now and can't run A New Era. Trainz 12 is good enough for me though :D

I have TANE too, but like you said my computer isn't powerful enough to run it smoothly like Trainz 12. I personally stayed with Trainz 12 as it's a great game. TANE just about everything is faulty and can't do much.

So basically Kickstarter county and also the updated version (Kickstarter county 2) are modified version of the famous highland valley route. Modifications like is added a steel company, added a colliery, added a refinery, and adding a new stations, industries and a power plant and also tied a 2 section of the railway up into 1 track

My first Trainz (for PC) was 1.1.1. My first ever copy of Trainz was the one for iPad. The PC one didn’t last 2 plays. I own all working copies ranging from UTC to T:ANE.
My first Trainz game was TRS2006, specifically Driver Edition. That year for Christmas, I got UTC because my parents didn't understand that it was an older game. In early 2012 I got TS2010, and later that year I got TS12, which I still use to this day. I will not switch to T:ANE until the day that TS12 is no longer supported. Then I will get MSD, UMR, and MPRX for T:ANE, since those are the main 3 routes I run on.
Cool to hear, My first Trainz was UTC and I moved up from there. TS12 is my main game for Trainz and I am using TANE a bit more than before. Support for TS12 is this coming September of 2016 for support if you don't know yet. Glad you enjoyed the video mate :)
What’s the music used for the Ultimate Trainz Collection, 2004, and 2006 segments?
I don't have the name in my head, but I think its made from 126ers on YT music library
I started out with TRS2006 way back when WalMart used to sell more useful software. I can't possibly say how many hours (days-weeks-months all totalled up) I spent with that program. I even made a series of LP/tutorial videos with it.
I kind of skipped over Trainz 2009 and 2010. and went straight to Trainz 2012. I remember the first time I fired up 2012. I was surprised to see that they hadn't changed the interface very much over the years. Then I somehow ended up with Trainz 2009 and 2010 in my games library on Steam. Still not sure how those got there, but it gave me a chance to at least play around with them a little.
I settled into Trainz 2012 pretty quickly. It felt so familiar, yet more streamlined than 2006.
Last year, I finally got TANE. It was on a ridiculously low price that I just couldn't pass up. There is a lot to like in TANE, but there are also a lot of disappointments; mainly the lack of content. I could hardly believe that they had removed so much rolling stock...especially US Passenger trains. Also, some of the bridges and tunnels are broken. They follow the terrain, instead of going over or through it...strange.
Anyways, I do like TANE, and am actually doing some segments on my Saturday live streams with it. But overall, I have to say that Trainz 2012 is the best so far....although TANE is coming around with the patches and SP1 now installed.
Sorry such a long comment, but just wanted to share a little history of my experiences with the Trainz franchise. Overall, in spite of little quirks and anomalies, I really like Trainz and love the open ended world concept. It is like an unlimited model railroad!
Wow, thank you very much for enjoying the video and the story you shared. I started out with UTC from an Office Max store and then got TRS2006 at a Target store. That was the last time I saw a Trainz game. Now Walmart sells Train Simulator series which is really annoying. That's when I went all over the online stores to buy my other Trainz versions so I could play around with it and it was really fun. I remember those days of Trainz and now I have TANE now, with the lack of content due to all the DLC now for the game, which is really annoying.
No problem. I kind of like to share the story of how I started out in Trainz. The last version of Trainz that I saw in a store was TRS2009. At that time, it was too expensive, and didn't look like it offered that much over TRS2006. After TRS2009-2010, I think Auran/N3V went to all online sales.
To be fair, I do also have Train Simulator (not Trainz) and I must say that the graphics on it are amazing. The scenery is spectacular and the operations are very realistic. Plus, they offer free upgrades each year for it. BUT! Trying to actually build anything on that platform is....well, difficult at best.
I do use Train Simulator sometimes, but my go-to program is still Trainz. I have not found a program out there that is as easy to build on as Trainz.....again, in spite of its little quirks and anomalies. The graphics/scenery may not look as good as others, but for the level that I am working on, Trainz fits well.
My biggest complaint is the lack of in-game content in T:ANE. Too bad I can't find a way to import the US passenger consists over from 2012 into T:ANE.
NJP Vlogs I don't blame you, I actually appreciate reading stories that people have when they started with their first version of Trainz. I also have Train Simulator, along with the graphics and the sounds, but the amount of DLC is crazy. I did wrote a review on the game so if your interested you can read it on Steam. I been a long Trainzer from UTC to TANE, but like you said about the lack of content, it does make things harder. All I can say is blame it on the DLC. I also made 2 scenarios in TS and that was it. I basically quite after the 2 as it was just too complex for me. Attempting to route build it nothing but a chore than how Trainz has it. To me, Trainz wants everyone, no matter how experience you are with programming, you can get a train moving in a matter of minutes while TS it might be months. I sticked with Trainz as it suits my needs and doesn't require a DLC just to play a session.
I think you hit the proverbial nail on the head with your latest reply. Trainz is like having a giant model railroad...a "virtual" model railroad where everything is wide open. Your imagination (and the resource limits of your computer) are the only real limiting factors. It has always been that way, at least for me, since TRS2006. Yes, I do try and make things seem as close to "real world" as I can, but I use fictitious places and names for my layouts....just like I would with a physical model railroad.
I have built my share of actual model railroads as well, but when TRS2006 came along, I kind of put those on the shelf. Believe it or not, I still have the original discs for TRS2006. Just dug them out the other day...all five of them...in the original jewel case. In some ways, 2006 will always be pretty special to me because that was where it all started. That said, I doubt I would go back to it now, after having used 2012 and T:ANE for so long.
DLC can be a good and a bad thing. It is cool to see the big companies working with people in the community to help create some great content. BUT now everybody wants to make a buck off doing it, and in my humble opinion, that is killing some of the charm of it. Kind of makes the "vanilla" package of a game/simulator feel somewhat incomplete.
Trainz it sure is and that's what makes it special to me. It makes it easier to do all kinds of things without the limits of space and cost and after setting things all up then having to deal with electrical problems that can occurred during a run on the actual model railroad. With some of the super high quality routes that are on the DLC, it'll make you question how much time, cost, and space would I need to make this layout in my basement? Trainz has come a long ways and now they are starting the DLC business. Now with DLC I can see a few here and there, but now DLC to get the most out of your game, now that is kind of pushing it, but then again that could just be me seeing it. TRS2006 although it wasn't my first Trainz as I started with UTC, I found way more in TS2006 than any other version I have, but it has FPS issues after downloading from the DLS on Windows 7 machines (which was just new to the market). The route I spent my most time was the Razorback Classic, that route for some reason is my favorite Australian route than any other route.
I started with TRS2004.Found it second hand.(here comes the twist)It was supposed to be the Collectors edition of Trainz 2006 I think.But came with 2004.I was so disappointed.Hope to return it soon though.Might get the right disc.And I have Trainz 1+2 Shame Trainz 1 isn’t supported on Apple IOS 11 anymore

I loved 2006 back in the day because of Paint Shed, and all the stuff that was included in it. But the best in my opinion was TRS2010 EE. That included the best maps, trains and buildings I've ever seen. I really miss that game...TRS2009 always felt like an unfinished "upgrade" to TRS2006. It had the same rollingstock in it, including paint shed white trains, but the Paint Shed didn't exist...
Me too! TRS2016 was another favourite game as not only did it include new content, but also came with new routes, with one route being my ultra favourite, which was the Razorback Classic :)
At first I didn't like TRS2010 as it lagged so badly that wasn't playable (but then again, I had a weak laptop not made for playing games on lol). I finally loved the game and continued to move up and gathered the remaining ones.

Nope sorry, TRS2004 was the last to include the 8 (or 9) original scenarios. TRS2006 includes the scenarios from the Razorback for its newer scenario system

It has been removed from TRS2006. TS2010 features it, but since they placed the track marks in the wrong direction, that too was uncompleted

technical question please.... i have the geforce gt 610 ddr3 and the game engine failed...does that mean i new a new card? besides that u have direct x 11 on win 7 ultimate
+gunner6084 Hi, Trainz should be working alright with no problems, it shouldn't matter what graphic card it is to play it. I would think it would have something with the operating system your using. I use Windows 7 Home Premium and all of my Trainz runs okay with no problems. Does this happen to all of your Trainz or just certain Trainz?
no only this new one....it says engine developer error or something...and i have about 8 g of ram too!
***** Ok, so did you set the settings in the advanced tab (or something like that). I found out that if you set them too high Trainz will give an error. Try that and see if that helps.

i thing trainz 2009 has alot changes than trs 12 in dcc mode in german (trafomodus) dc controle is now on trainz 12 change at down right and trs2009 top right no much camera controls

That i thought Trainz 2009 would be Very Similiar to Trainz 12 but when i installed it i saw that it had quite a Few Changes Like the DCC Control Panel

It's a combo and all the recent Trainz games out there. I own the PC versions and not the mobil versions. Most of the games are PC versions, not so much mobil or Mac

I’m starting to think that Auran is using TS19 as a cash grab, not to mention blatant marketing measures. They once used the intro for the original Trainz only as a marketing strategy for MR17. And they don’t even acknowledge 2004 and 2006.
Auran isn't even around anymore. Auran was bought out when TS2009 / TS2010 was in development by N3V Games. Because they don't use the Auran logo, they won't use it, but will use N3V's logo.
I know I just like to call them Auran.

Happy memories.. I started with trainz 2006.. Now I play train simulator 2018 like any normal person would do.. Cuz it frankly kicks trainz's ass.. The new era was a joke. Not what we were promised and what we were expecting at all.
Thank you. UTC was my first Trainz game, and I'll tell you that Auran made version so Trainz were more fun and with less bugs. N3V ones are okay, but but that's all. TANE like you said is a complete joke. Need to really do a major improvement...
NBVideos Presents when i first saw the Trainz a new era's trailer i was super excited.. But all went downhill when i saw actual game play videos..quality and performance wise train simulator is better.. I haven't tried them side by side but I saw numerous comparison videos where people try both Sims on a high end computer where trainz a new era shows major lags and glitches.. I agree that train simulator also suffered from crashes and bugs mainly due to the fact that it's a 32bit application and the newer add-ons needed more memory to perform right which the sim couldn't offer to these add-ons which causes the game crashes. But still.. For me train simulator is way better.. But as i said i have lots of memories and i had lots of fun playing trainz 2006.. As a train enthusiast I'm glad both Sims existed and more are coming.. :)
Same here, I preordered TANE and got access to the community edition. It was so buggy and laggy that my computer couldn't handle it on lowest settings (back then I had a 745 GPU) and the game was still a beta version. Thing got improved and SP1 HF4 basically fixed all the annoying issues. Now that I have a 1060 GPU, I played around and got the settings to about to the trailer settings were, but sadly my GPU wasn't that powerful enough to handle it all, so I had to mix both high and medium and can get 60FPS out of it. Now with SP2 series released, the game went downhill and bugs all over the place....
I work in TS12 for most times, and drive once a while in Railworks with my RailDriver unit. Railworks although has its bugs with once a while a frame rate drop age from 1xxFPS to 60FPS and then back up. To be they're both okay, but can use some improvements (especially TANE, but supposedly the next Trainz game will offer more graphical things that TANE was supposedly to be in the first place)
I have trainz 2006 because trainz 12 is just UGH.. Too many errors, and so little knowledge of fixing them. but i still use trainz 12 sometimes.
also trainz 2006 collectors edition because that was the only one selling at the time
I was like that when I for my first Trainz game, UTC was the very first and it took me a while to accept the next version (don't ask me why) but after a while, I'm finding myself using that newer version. TS12 and TANE, TANE was terrible and it was just full of errors. Now its more balanced. I'm still finishing up my Trainz library and then its all done

TRS2006 has some real issues with its content manager... I dont get how people get things working in that game

My first trainz was TRS 2006 then trainz driver 2 on the iPad and then Trainz 12.
I currently own TRS12 on steam, I think it’s the oldest TRS game on there.
Trainz Simulator 2009 is actually the oldest Trainz game on Steam in history but that's been taken down since like 2016 because of the newer versions. Today yes TS12 is the oldest game on Steam currently.

I done a few last year, but sadly didn't made it up pass 2 viewers and since they were usually an hour long, I just decided to take a long break, but hopefully when I get some time maybe I can make one again
yeah that near end for trainz a new era every train driving game does not do free content anymore its all payware now with train games maybe that's why i loved trainz 2006 when i was young because i knew i could make the best maps i could do and have all these trains in my game to play with shame your not going to see me buying train games anymore i just get cracks ones until i know they is free stuff and hardly any paying in it god the old days was so much better (if anyone starts to hate me for now using cracks well i dont want to give money to a company i dont support anymore
Yes, Trainz A New Era now moved to payare content just like Train Simulator 2017 (except, almost $6K total for all DLC!). Ultimate Trainz Collection, and onward where pretty fun, and I loved all the versions. On Trainz Railway Simulator 2006, the Razorback Classic was my favourite route since there were things to do on the route.
