    A special liveried United plane? Had to look that one up on another website. Nice paint job. Loved the increase in engine sound AFTER takeoff. A bit unusual.

    Sheeeeesh! How many times have you been to Hawaii?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many times. More than I can remember at this point. But, take that for what it's worth. Most of my trips to Hawaii are solely to film the flights. Many times, I've flown in one day, and turned around the very next morning and flown back to the mainland. I have only been to Hawaii a couple of times for actual vacations. Once for my honeymoon and two other times with family for trips. This channel is the main reason why I fly, I consider it work, and 95% of my trips to Hawaii are work haha.

    You lucked out with that special paint scheme--what is its proper title? Is it normal for mainland flights to leave at o' dark thirty? No doubt your fellow passengers slept most of the way,any inflight service? What was that odd sound just after liftoff? The sound's pitch increases as you climb then dissipates. Flying EB,you lose several hours,any jet lag?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did indeed luck out with the special livery. It's titled "Her Art Here - East Coast." It was designed by a female artist and was picked out of many entries after Untied ran a contest. There are two "Her Art Here" 757's, one for the east coast and one for the west coast.
      As for the flights, yes. The majority of flights from Hawaii to the mainland leave in the evening/night. Due to the time change going east, this puts them into their destinations in the early morning. 5:00am-9:00am. It's much harder to find flights leaving earlier in the day. Not unheard of, but more uncommon. Only major markets get earlier in the day departures. LAX, SFO, SEA...
      There was an inflight service. Breakfast was served to all passengers about an hour before landing in Denver. Which was a nice change from what the United app said. It said we were going to be served dinner. The flight left at like 11:30pm.... I didn't want dinner haha. I wanted to sleep. Well, that was a mistake. It wasn't anything special though. A biscuit, yogurt, and fruit bar....
      The sound you heard after takeoff was actually the door, which I was sitting right next to. I believe it's the L2 door on the 757-200. The door that is typically used for boarding on 757's. It wasn't completely sealed tight when we took off, and the noise you heard was air escaping as increasingly smaller amounts. Hence the pitch change as we climbed. Eventually the door sealed fully and no issues going forward. It did it again during landing. I'd never heard a door do that before. I asked the flight attendant, who was sitting directly across from me, if that's what it was after we landed, and he said it's really common on the old 757's.
      And for jet lag... Yes, I have always found that traveling east is much harder than traveling west. I don't know what it is, but I can fly west all day long and still stay up until a somewhat normal time. Flying east though, and losing time, just seems to hit differently. I can fly for 6 hours, lose another 4, and I'm dead tired haha. Most people I've ever talked to say the same though. For some reason flying east and losing time is just much harder on the body.

    You should really make a tutorial on how to film from the window view!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's really pretty simple. It's an iPhone 13 Pro with a black case, and I hold the camera by hand while wearing a black long sleeve shirt and black glove. The "blackout" setup is to keep my arm/camera from reflecting in the window. If you don't wear black gloves and long sleeves your arm and hand will reflect in the frame.

    Great fly! Which airline do you think has a top best logo? It can be non-US airline company too.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I absolutely love Hawaiian's logo. I think it's beautiful, clearly identifies the Hawaiian aspect of the airline, and is just overall a great logo. It's the background on my laptop that I take when I travel.

    I don't understand why they'd paint United 757's only to retire them shortly after

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aircraft have to be repainted every 8-10 years, regardless of whether they're getting retired or not. The paint on an aircraft isn't just to make it look pretty and show some flashy marketing. It's part of the aircraft's maintenance schedule. Many of United's 757's still wear the United livery that was introduced in 2012. Meaning many are approaching, or have hit 10 years since being painted last. One reason airlines tend to change their livery about every 10 years, is that's typically the cycle that a pint job is good for. I've seen United 757's recently where the paint is literally peeling off. Plus, last I checked, United wasn't planning to retire all their 757's for another 4 years. And that was before the Airbus A321XLR's entry to service was just delayed by over a year. Anyways, 4 years is still a lot of flying. I would bet that most of their 757's that have been repainted, wouldn't have been able to keep flying with their old paint for that long, which means they'd have to be repainted. And they're not going to repaint them in the old livery, just because they'll be retired in a few years. Anyways, I appreciate you watching my friend!
