- The Mach 1 w/ Handling Package is the highest performance level of a Coyote powered Mustang for Ford. This car is a direct competitor to the Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE. On the outside you will find a larger front splitter, unique 19in wheels, GT500 rear wing w/ Gurney flap, and massive quad exit exhaust. On the inside you will find your basic Mustang interior. I own a 2021 Mach 1 in iconic silver with handling package, recaros, and six speed tremec and I absolutely love it! I special ordered it and took about 4 months to build. It’s my first brand new car and I’m extremely impressed with it.

But, have you seen it in the metallic purple?! I hadn’t, then I did. I genuinely called my Ford dealer and changed my Mach 1 2022 order to that color.

Great car. My Grandfather had a 1971 Mach 1 and I always think of him when I see this car. I hope to get one myself one day or at least any kind of mustang in memory of him. Thank you Lori and Ratti for this review. It means a lot!

Love the aggressive look with the handling pack. I do agree that at the price point it shouldn’t be base cloth interior. At minimum it should be leather. But love the sound of that engine. Awesome! Thanks for showing us.

Another great video Joe! I had two mustangs back in the day when I was in the army . Had a ‘92 lx 5.0 and traded it in on a ‘94 gt 5.0 . Man I miss those cars and being young! Personally I love the color on this Mustang. I love the handling package that they added to this one. I'm very curious to what the next gen Mustang will bring to the table. Some say the front taillights will resemble more of the headlights on the Mach E... but great job Joe n Lori!

Another great review . Love these cars and totally agree on the interior zonks. I have always known that additional flap on the rear spoiler as a “Gurney flap”, because it was Dan himself that invented it. This is the first I have heard it be attributed to Foyt. Did I misunderstand what you were saying?

The exterior looks pretty good but I was expecting at least some different stitching or different seats for this Mach 1 considering how expensive it is.
I agree with you that is why I got the 2021 Toyota Camry TRD I love the stitching I love everything about it exterior and interior

Mine came with leather Recaro's. The one he is reviewing just has the base interior.
All those amazing performances parts and track numbers to support those parts and your issue is the seat stitching. Obviously you have never test driven a Mach 1. It's as Good or better than a GT350 with luxury and technology added

Glad you are finally reviewing the HP version of the Mach 1
I ended up with a 2022 fighter jet gray, 6 spd w/recaros. Non handling pack. But then I went crazy….pretty much everything Steeda makes for this undercarriage: upgraded vertical links, braces, sway bars (and this car already has decent sway bars on it), jacking rails, IRS bushing kit, and camber plates and magneride lowering springs. The ride is more compliant than stock, but when you push the car all that Steeda gear works in concert to provide excellent stable response in the twisties. I added LMR’s MPH1’s (look like the handling pack wheels but tighter) in 10x19 fronts, and 11x19 rears. 285/35R19 fronts and 325/30R19 rears. The slightly lowered stance and more aggressive wheels and tires make this thing look phenomenal. Everytime I get gas someone is coming up to me about this car. I did the Steeda x-pipe too….cold starts are even better (if that was possible). The car handles great from Ford, the spring rate is a little harsh and the Steeda springs don’t slam the car but they give a little more compliance for day to day driving. The stock ride height looks good with the upgraded wheels too, and allows you to run 40’s if you want more of a meaty tire look. The available tire sizes 15:29 that achieve the same look are amazing! You can do a 295/40R19 out back in the Michelin 4S and due to the way Michelin makes the sidewall, on the 11 inch wheel it looks like a 315. The sidewall doesn’t bend in and give the impression that you fit too narrow of a tire to the wheel. So you can run 40’s, 35’s, or 30’s and the car does fine. Depends on the look you want. Anyway, I built my own handling pack and took it up a notch.

Beautiful car, track focused. I believe you can get a SS 1LE with all the goodies for way less money and still get similar performance. In the end it is a personal choice. Great content, Mach 1 what an amazing car !!

The SS 1LE is not 'similar performance' by no means. The SS 1LE is a track beast and the Mach 1 wishes it could hold a candle to the performance offered by the cheaper Camaro.

My seats are leather. It’s all about what options you select.
As the post above me mentioned, it's all about options. The Mach 1 in the review was a base 600A, which comes with cloth seats. You have to get the premium 700A which comes in leather. It's an extra $2.5k though. 😄

@@jmhutner Don't we all? But yeah, its definitely worth it. I have an order in for a 2022 Race Red fully loaded 700A Handling Pack Mach 1 with the Recaro's, and paying MSRP for it. Didn't even have to make a deposit. The dealer came in clutch, and got an extra allocation for me before the last ones in July supposedly. Feels pretty great tbh, just hope Ford doesn't cancel especially with how things been going with the shortages, but the order is confirmed got the email and everything. Just gotta wait a few months, which sucks. 😄

Alright Joe I do really love the handling of this Darth Vader black Mach 1! The digital display is a plus for me over the other muscle cars. However It's hard to get over for the hight price all the zonks and let downs that come along with it:
1. Basic seats, no Recaro, or leather
2 Basic horn button no special touches
3. No special touches on door panels
4. No hood shaker
The handling package definitely is worth it Joe. But can't wait to see the next gen version of Mustang......Great job Joe n Lori!!

Lucked out on a 2022, Oxford White, Mach 1 handling package, 700a, 6 speed Tremec. Ordered by someone whose wife was apparently unaware (lol) and no purchase was made… I got the call and 24 hours later she was home! My gosh she handles! I’m looking at alternative wheels and tires so these Cup 2’s can rest for daily lol

Beautiful package. For me the 10R80 trans turned the S550 stang into a weapon. I think its a smart move to buy a 2021-2022 S550 full stop as the glitches have been ironed out.

1LE 1SS with the track handling package and recaro seats is $47k. This thing is $64k!! I’m going with Camaro.

Finally Joe! I have been waiting for you to finally get your hands on the handling package. Too bad it wasn’t the Tremec. Of course Lori was great behind the camera. I ordered my handling package June 2021 and was one of the canceled orders. Now My 2022 Mach 1 handling package is scheduled to be built June 7, 2022. I was wondering since you now have driven both Gt350 and Mach 1 HP, do you find them different cars, especially on the handling and daily driving?
That is so exciting! It is been so tough to track these down. I think the Mach 1 is the better daily.
That's a sick car, and definitely for driving smooth highways and open road. The exterior color is freaking awesome, but what it lacks in interior style it makes up for in everything else. I guess Ford wants the driver to experience the car not worry about seat stitching.

I don't care much for the recaro seats or any fancy interior. Mustang seats are comfortable, the whole design and the engine. Its a beautiful American car ❤️

Edit- I know it’s the same motor but I have a 2016 with the 6 speed auto and I love how the Mach 1 looks plus that 10 speed.
its not the same engine, bore and stroke has changed as well as air induction and ECU...totally different car than what you own bruh.

15:14 magna ride is on the base car. Handling pack gets adjustable top plates on struts to adjust camber for track work. Trust me I have a base car with a 6 speed you still get all the modes with magna ride.

I'd have to go with the 1LE. Both have great handling, oil and diff coolers.

Yea I get that , but I test drove one gotta admit if I didn't have a gt500 this would be my daily . Went for a raptor but dang man this thing is nice.

It's a dirty job to have to try out all these cool cars Joe, but somebody has to do it. Good review and good photography by Lori, as you two work together as a good team in presenting these cars.
I really like what Ford has done in making this Mach 1 and would choose it as the ultimate Mustang GT type car. My other big favorite in the Mustang corral is the GT 350, with its flat-plane crank. This car seems like a nicely balanced package, with power, handling performance and style. As with all of the Mustangs, their weight is problematic but I guess that is something that is really hard to get away from in modern cars, with all the comfort, convenience and safety features everybody demands and the government requires.

"Zonk it". If a base GTI can come with hydraulic hood struts, this $64K car should not have a prop rod
FYI: is has cloth seats because it’s a regular Mach 1 not a Mach 1 Premium(leather comes standard)

If you think about it, this base trim interior would be perfect for someone buying this to make it a drag weapon. Less expensive than the premium package and you won’t feel too bad throwing out the cloth seats or plastic interior panels, and then replacing it all with a roll cage and aftermarket bucket seats… Having the option is nice I guess

Great review and insights Raiti. You always provide review from a common consumer perspective which I really like and helps to make decision in buying or not buying.
I'm really disappointed that Ford didn't consider updating the interior to match the exterior and performance of this car. When you're paying upwards of $70K you atleast expect good interior quality. No wonder all the European brand fans like BMW, AUDI and others don't see American muscles as options. Most people would go for JDM cars before even considering American muscle. Some say that FORD invested in performance and exteriors so couldn't provide interior like Audi or BMW or Merc. Who are we kidding? Audi RS3 and RS5 are in the same ball park in terms of pricing with 10x better quality of interior that you would like to be in and can match (if not be better) at performance to mustang any day. Can't argue about reliability as well because for $70K+ car they are both similar in terms of reliability (the only thing is it costs less to repair a ford than europeans). As a consumers we don't need to defend Ford for providing mediocre quality and poorly thought out interior when they charge premium. I feel like they dropped the ball this time.If they used the best parts from GT350 & GT500 for performance and handling and appearance to build pinnacle coyote mustang, they could've provided better quality and distinctive interior to match the outer appearance and performance And $70K is not cheap for us to expect this. Because you're spending most time with the interior when driving.
For reference cars with similar or better performance : Audi RS5 costs 75K+(similar number), RS3 costs 60K+, BMW M3 competition costs 72k+, Mercedes C63 AMG costs 69k+....all these cars can beat Mustang any day and are miles ahead in interior quality and experience to drivers and passengers.
At this point, it feels that the American car manufacturers don't care much as long as they are selling and making profits, no passion to build a better car to cater to their customer base with better cars. And cherry on top, some morons are there to defend these multinational company's decision of putting profit over customer service thinking that they are defending America which is complete oxymoron because most of these cars' parts are made somewhere else and its a global operations. People don't need to defend the companies but to question them as consumers so they make better products. Otherwise why would they even care to invest in research. Also this is not 70-80s when the American manufacturers didn't have technology, infrastructure and research facilities like european counterparts. These days American companies makes equal or more profit than many european car brands and have ability to develop something that can compete with them. Also, they are charging similar if not more price for once affordable pony cars these days. Its time to compare American muscle to not only domestic cars but with global icons when they are as expensive as them too. Its like I'm best in my community college, you really get to know where you stand when you go to university and that's a real test.
I really was looking forward to go for Mach 1 with Tremec from Gt350 before the era of electric cars take over completely thinking that the premium pricing would also come with better interior but that's not the case. Let's see how S650 comes out and if there's any improvements.
European Brands Have their own issues! Ask any Tow truck Operator!! I know a owners of 2 Tow truck Companies! European Brands on their Flat beds more than American & Japanese & South Korea Manafactors!!!

Finally the Mach 1 with the handling package, sharp as ever but with the Chevy dealership plate lol would only buy a Mach 1 with the manual and handling package otherwise I would buy a GT PP with the 10R80. Interior needs a serious overhaul.
The problem is with the recaros and dealer markups it cost almost the same as the GT500
I just love how amazing the Mach 1 is and overall a Mustang is general. The interior being outdated bothers me but also it really doesn’t if that makes sense, Ford is probably one of the best when it comes to making such a good sports car.

I agree with a lot of the comments that is why I got the 2021 Toyota Camry TRD everything about it exterior and interior is completely amazing! And it is a $50,000 car after the finance fees the extended warranty the roadside the SOS the sxm music The Temper plate xcetera I have it all black on black with black rims of course it has the red brake that you can see through the wrist and the red stitching and it says TRD and red on the top of the seat it came with the lowered bottom body kit say I absolutely love and I love the shocks with the air hissing I just love everything this is my dream car it was either this or the new Honda I love Mustangs but I love Hondas and Toyotas better and I love this guy he goes over every little detail If you show me something better than the Toyota Camry TRD then I might just trade it in LOL but until then I'm going to enjoy what I have because this is the first brand new car that I've had that I love everything about! Also I didn't hear him do any zonks when he was talking about the TRD!

I ordered a new 2022 Mustang GT base model. I got only one option. The compact spare tire. No ups, no extras. I had a new 2010 GT premium and I loved it. Now it's time to get back in the saddle and shift my own gears.

That’s a tough question but I’d probably go w/the Camaro for its engine alone. Ford should’ve sourced the deep draw hood from Shelby GT for the Mach 1 .. that would’ve nailed it.

As a owner of a GT350R, I can appreciate this car very much, something I have never seen! The color is Stunning. I am Ford biased , I have driven the Camaro SS 1LE, yes its quicker than my GT350R, But Not a Fun Car to Drive, I am 5 10 But the camaro side windows are hard to see and seats are not very comfortable like my car and forsure the Mustang Looks a lot better. @@chrismagic3110 The run down... th-cam.com/video/wdmKb-pDxWg/w-d-xo.html both advanced solo drivers, one just in a better track package that was engineered from the ground up to perform. Unlike the other, which is a series of band-aids to address engineering issues with the chassis.
It's a good looking car with some serious build potential. I seriously considered buying one, but at the time I didn't find one in my area so I had to settle for a new GT500 (lol).
