They could have used a removable magnetic Type-C connector, so to have both pass-through charging and - once removed - it would have allowed for Switch/tablet compatibility. Best of both worlds.
I can vouch that this is an amazing controller. Before I brought mine I brought a kishi v2 controller and this made that look like a dollar tree child's toy. The buttons feel just like an actual controller. The build quality is great and it connects the second you put your phone in. I brought mine specifically for mobile emulation. This worked right out of the box with PSP, PS1, PS2 & switch emulation! The only thing I wish they had was the ability to charge when using the control
"If you bought this, you don't need anything else." That's exactly why its better that it isn't just for Switch. I don't really see the point of why we would want a Switch only version when this is so versatile.
@@NEOMERCER you're totally right but when I say a Switch only version I mean alongside this. There's loaaaads of people that play Switch only, so a dedicated Switch version that's either joycon or usb-C docked or something would be cool for them too.
@@128KB well like what type of gadget would you want? I already have the Nova and T4 Cyclone controllers that I use for Switch and PC and they're great, so there are Switch gamepads on their website already. What kind of mobile controller are you wanting?
I ordered one if these yesterday, and I'm unreasonably excited. It seems like this could finally be the Switch controller "grip" that I was looking for! Annnd I might get back into Rocket League Swipe, too! I just hope that it arrives here to Australia quickly... because I can hardly wait.
@@128KB - There's not enough of a narrow handle at the bottom of each grip to hold on with your ring and pinky fingers. The right stick is too close to the right thumb. If the handles of the controller and placement of the right stick were similar to the 8bitdo Ultimate or Switch Pro controller, this would be a lot more comfortable. Unfortunately, it's a heavy, expensive discomfort and let-down. If I could return it for a refund, I would.

Finally! I was in the same boat as you, waiting for then to release a switch compatible variant lol. Now i just wish they would release some different stand alone faceplate covers because the all black looks a little to meh to me. I was hoping to have the super nintendo faceplate on like the regular g8, which ironically isnt even compatible with a nintendo device lol..
oh yeah! reminds me of my Gamedeck controller from KMD Clutch except no strectching the controller just slide yo Switch or Razer Edge 5G into it! But this one is on my list now! This is the one to beat. I guess. Im using my GameDeck only on switch. But I got the Backbone One Playstation version for my Razer Edge 5G now.
I’m looking for a new set of Joycon alternatives, tried the Nyxi Hyperion pro and it felt too large. What is your favorite quality controller for the switch?
Gamesir G8+ vs Mobapad M6 HD video pleaseee. I'm still waiting for the black Mobapad M6 HD but this may be what I'll buy because Switch detects it as a pro controller instead of joycons. Which means I can use this as an extra controller for 2 players if I use bluetooth audio for speakers.
actually a smart thought. this bluetooth audio limitation is really annoying, as my monitor speakers sound like sh*t. but using a bluetooth dongle, you could also circumvent that - at least at home, where it's not that inconvenient.
Is it better than the mobapad hd? I like the mobapad but its hard to play doom with the right joystick. So I was wondering if there is something better to buy for fps?
Yes, the g8+ is generally considered better for FPS games than the mobapad HD. It offers more precise controls, full-size triggers, and improved thumbsticks, making it a great choice for games like Doom. Just sayin. 👍🏼
I just bought this after watching your video! Really love the device but I’m not sure if I got a faulty one or what the A/B/X/Y buttons don’t actuate all the time unless I press down with relative force!
hello, I've a question, google doesn't help, I've ordered a nyxi hyperion pro, and I'm trying to update its firmware but it says the out of box firmware is 2.04 and the update file from their website only says 1.72 should i still update it?
It should you can mod it by popping it to extend it to fit larger tablets I ordered one to play games on it and remote play on my galaxy s8 ultra watch game tech talk 7 min videos about the the g8 plus he shows how to do it also dna mobile gaming shows it at the end of his vid as well
Apparently it's better on Switch. Beware buyers, I bought this to play on my phone and it's horrible. I have bluetooth 5.4 and the analogue sticks feel very laggy in game. They're alright when you're testing inside the app itself but when you get to play a game it's unbearable. I'm going to return it and get the normal G8
I would love this if the face buttons were swappable so I can switch them around when using it with a Switch. As it stands, I won't buy this if I have to play with X being Y and vice versa. Same for A and B. It looks cool though.
@@WodverWizard hang on, I show in the video that you can swap the buttons around. You can make them to any order you like! They're magnetic! You can absolutely make either Xbox or switch layout or just put them in randomly to mess up your friends 🤣
