LOCKDOWN BREAD- No Yeast, No egg Wheat Bread | Irish Soda Bread | homemade no yeast bread recipe

  • A lot of you have been asking me to make a bread here on my channel, without any yeast or eggs! I understand that we are not getting bread so easily because of the lockdown but worry not- I’ve got you covered! This Irish Soda bread is extremely simple and very quick. The texture is slightly different from the commercial breads we are used to eating but I love this one for the crusty top and the soft crumb.
    I know a lot of you would want to make this bread completely with whole wheat flour. Doing that will make your bread a little more dense but if that’s a compromise you’re ready to make- you could definitely give it a shot!
    If you don’t want to add any butter- skip it and increase the quantity of milk by 1/4 cup. Add a teaspoon of salt.
    You can add any flavour/ seasonings of your choice- the recipe I’ve shared here is a simple basic bread.

    2 tbsp vinegar
    2 cups milk
    2 cups whole wheat flour ( aata)
    2 cups all purpose flour (maida)
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
    1/4 cup salted butter

    I baked a smaller version that is halved all the ingredients . Baked 220 for 15 mins and further 200 for 17 some minutes. Turned amazing. The second i time I baked i added a additional tsp of vinegar and a the density in the middle reduced hugely. It turned out fluffy and amazingly. Lastly I topped with flax and pumpkin seeds. Next time I'm gonna add coconut milk instead of milk and coconut powder and see where that goes. It's really amazing recipe and many renditions are there on youtube but this one is super easy and super amazing. Thanks shivesh ❤️❤️❤️

    Shivesh the bread turned out so good the second time! First time my help made me knead the Dough saying that such a sticky dough won’t work but you’re right! Sticky and soft dough will only make the bread more bread like! Thanks for this amazing and easy recipe

    Tried it today with wholewheat flour. (my first attempt to make bread). Used buttermilk(chaas) instead of milk+vinegar. And skipped butter. Added half tbsp olive oil and one tsp baking powder. It was perfect. Thanks.

    Delicious. Made twice and was yummy on both occasions. Also might vary according to ovens but I baked for 10 mins less. Also didn't have white vinegar and used apple cider vinegar. Still turned out great. Thanks for this great recipe.

      @@monicapoddar4127 I baked in a tray yes. Preheated the oven for 15 mins and then baked for around 45 mins 180 degrees celcius.

      How much time in the pressure cooker? And directly you've put the stuff in the cooker orver a stand?

      I preheated the cooker for 10 minutes with salt as we do for cake and then it took nearly 25-30 minutes to get done, also I had kept it in the same baking tin as cake, and it came out same as it would have in the oven.

    If the Convection mode in oven is only upto 200 degree Celsius, can we use 200 degrees first for 20 mins and 180 degree for 30 mins?? Will that work well?

    You are amazing!! For a beginner like me, your no-fuss recipes always motivates me to bake, inspite of the limited resources that I have. Can we make it in an airfryer as well? I have made cakes in it before, which have come out quite well. It has a maximum temperature of 200°C only.

    Also ! The cross is made for the bread to come out nice & beautiful and it’s a holy cross so we say "in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit , amen”.
    And traditionally there are four holes poked ( one in each quarter ) with a knife to stop the fairies from cursing the bread !

      Happened to me before.
      You probably over worked the dough.
      Don't knead it like a chapati dough, it'll not rise at all and be dense

      a whole wheat bread is very dense to eat. you can do it but it will not be a good eat

      Surabhi Pahade I got it made by my baker friend using only wholewheat. Tastes pretty good. Not that dense. It’s soft and nice to eat. Thanks though!

    Hi Shivesh.. how much time will it take in a ifb convection? In your choco lava cake, you said it takes less time in those than the big oven you have? Will really appreciate a response.

    Hi. I cooked half the quantity so will it get cooked in half the time, Shivesh? It is still cooling so I don't know if it has turned out well or not. But the colour is light brown. I don't want dark brown. Skewer test done. All clean....(after 5 minutes)....
    Checked....Some problem not porous n little uncooked too...Hv put it back.

      Hello! I haven’t tried making it in the microwave but you could bake at same setting on convection mode

    Followed exactly the same way same quantity of everything. But my dough was very loose. I don’t know where I went wrong. Still I have kept in the oven to bake.. waiting how it comes out.

    It's looking like 2 teaspoon vinegar in 1 cup milk, but you are saying 2tbsp vinegar and 2 cups milk. I want to make it today but I don't have parchment paper or butter paper so any suggestions.
