We had one at a salvage yard I worked at. It performed well and didn't seem or feel cheap. We would clean everything from parts, to loaders, to concrete with it. I'm thinking about buying one for me now.

It was a very good & informative video as I have been looking into purchasing one of the predator series PRESSURE WASHERS. Just a helpful FYI regarding changing the pressure using the unloader valve. The pressure is already set internally at the factory. Adjusting the unloader valve can decrease the lifespan of the pump. The correct way to adjust the pressure is by using different size nozzles to decrease, or raise the pressure. What I mean by that is the orifice in which the water goes rather than the various nozzle spray patterns of 15° or 30° or 45°. I'm referring to the actual small hole inside, the steel nozzle. By using A set of larger hole diameter nozzles will cause a dropping pressure to enable more pressure sensitive jobs to be accomplished safely well also increasing the lifespan of the pump. An easy way to put this into layman's terms is a pump creates flow while a restriction creates pressure. Since your pump is a direct drive set up the pump turns the exact same amount of RPMs as your motor. this is also what's known as a fixed displacement pump rather than a belt, driven variable speed commercial, PRESSURE WASHER. Unfortunately, with every PRESSURE WASHER set up the pump is always the Achilles heel so your motor will outlast the next three pumps you put on it once this one goes overtime. If you're able to stay on that trigger and not let it sit idle for more than a minute without a trigger pull? That will also greatly increase the lifespan of the pump. Using synthetic pump oil is also advisable but not a must. I'll have to check back and look for your video on updates. Thanks for the review. Peace

Nevertheless, some homes I wash may not even pay out 4 gpm and I don't have means to use a buffer tank , and therefore need to know how to adjust the gpm on this machine.

Turn the pressure regulator counter clockwise all the way before you try to start it. If you have the regulator turned up your engine is fighting against head pressure in the pump when you pull the chord. I have a ball valve on the end of the pressure hose that I keep open without a tip when I have to restart it so the water can free flow with no head pressure on the pump. Ball valve is the way to go, I couldn't live without it.

for anyone thinking about buying this thing, there is a bit of a learning curve. I always have problems with starting mine back up after shutting it down. You have to flush all the air out of the pump. If you don't have a hose with an on/off valve on it it's a pain in the ass don't even bother. I luckily have nice hoses that have valves, because I pressure wash for a living, but it takes some getting used to, and has been costing me some time and ultimately money. The power is amazing, it does a great job cleaning, but I probably won't be outfitting all of my crews with these like I had originally hoped to do when I purchased the first one.

The pressure washer pump that's on it is an AR (Annovi Reverberi). It's a high end Italian made pump. The 13hp Predator motor is basically a Honda clone. Honda's motor is 390cc, the Predator is 420cc. And it costs about $250 less. With Dewalt or Simpson your just paying for the name.

I know what y'all are saying but I own all these equipment and honda clones are clones they are not the same. You're paying for the engine and pump reliability vs the predator not just the name. Buying the predator would strictly be a cost effective solution nothing else.

@@ns671fr I agree,Honda's reputation stands head and shoulders above the rest. I bought a Simpson powershot 3.5gpm with the Honda engine and I know I can rely on it. I'm pretty shocked they sell a pressure washer with that4.2 GPM at a hardware store. Mostly because it's not something that works for regular owners because the rate of flow on most home spigots is maxed out at 4 GPM. Without the correct flow, in my opinion, it's not good for the pump.

For a home owner, that is ok. It’s a direct drive so if you use it a lot, you will be breaking keys. Specially with it being a bigger engine. The friction of metal on metal when used for long periods of time damages the key that connects the drive shaft to the pump. So you will have down time placing a new key. Also, high psi is not good for washing a house, new masonry, or vehicles. The chemical cleaners you will be using should do the job. The pressure washer should be used to rinse with high water volume and low psi. Also 4 GPM will not pull off of some homes. specially if you have a well. It could burn up your well pump. If you have city water with low water pressure. You could burn up your pressure washer pump.

Robert Maki That’s cool, I also have a few machines that I use for house washers, and commercial building washes. You will not see too many professional cleaners using direct drive pressure washers. They do not pull as well from buffer tanks, and the heat on the key of the driveshaft breaks more often than a belt drive. If you only use your machine for a few hours here and there it really doesn’t matter, but when you’re putting 5 to 10 hours a day on it washing houses all day you will see the difference in performance when operating a belt drive against a direct drive pressure washer.

There are a lot of Guys on there with large operations that share advice all the time. Often new guys wanting to start pressure washing business is will ask about direct drive pressure washers because they are usually cheaper. The advice is always the same.
