Great video and I have a Gas power washer and the HF electric power washer i also bought a Workx cordless because I have no running water at my place at the lake so i cant use either power washers there . i was very impressed how fantastic the Workx preformed . I fill up a few 5 gallon water jugs and it makes quick work of my projects. I have three other workx tools so i was already in the battery platform . I have been watching your videos for years now and enjoy them a lot

Somewhere I've seen pressure washers compared by "cleaning power" which was essentially the GPM multiplied by the pressure. (Maybe they did something a little more complicated, but that was the general idea.) The actual value isn't important, but "bigger is better" and it illustrates how higher pressure but almost no water doesn't do very much, and neither does a big bucket of water with almost no pressure.

The "Ryobi pressure washer foam blaster" on the Ryobi 1900psi 1.2gpm electric pressure washer, produces more foam than the cheap Amazon knockoffs. It is a fantastic combination for washing cars and trucks without ruining your paint. Best budget setup unless you get a Active VE56 1090psi 1.84gpm or Karcher K1700 1700psi 1.1gpm.

I purchased the Kobalt 40v cordless on clearance for around $33. I use it inside the shop during winter in Alaska and I would say it's works great, I can just fill a few 5 gallon buckets instead of attaching a hose which will clean my van with less than 15 gallons and not get everything else in the shop wet, it's only 600psi but gets the job done. Well worth the amount paid.

I have the Hart battery powered washer. It is underpowered and you can not change the nozzles but it works well as a washer for your car and stuff like lawn furniture. It is capable of cleaning some concrete but it will take a while with its narrow cleaning path and lower power.

Thank you, talking bear. I just bought a Simpson 3100 psi at Farm & Fleet, still unpacking it at the moment. I'll be using it for residential and general cleaning. I'm really glad to hear your comments about Simpson. I bought it because I'm tired of the crapshoot of renting from home depot. Got a bad one yesterday, they took it back and refunded my deposit, but I still wasted half the day. I feel confident I bought the right pressure washer for my handyman business. Take care!

I have a Kobalt cordless pressure washer. It’s kind of a toy but very useful for certain things. Cleaning out the cars door jams is something this excels at. There is enough pressure and volume to slough off the crud without soaking the interior. It’s also great for under the hood. You really don’t want to point a high powered washer into the engine bay of a modern car. They are not like the cars of old where all that was needed to start after a through cleaning was some WD40 and a rag. Now if water gets in where it shouldn’t it can cost thousands to get running again. This little washer can direct a stream right where you want it more controllable than a garden hose with a lot more pressure. It’s just a toy if you are trying to wash a deck or driveway but it comes in very handy for certain things.

solid vid, lots of good information 👍 I have the Kobalt 40v max battery powered pressure washer, can't say I'm impressed with it, it's nice to have the portability and the run time with a 2ah isn't terrible but the pressure is not comparable to corded or gas at all, I got it at lowes on clearance for $37 a few months back battery included so I cant really complain about it tho

Been using an 1800psi(?) Dirt Devil electric for quite a few years now. Upgraded the wand almost right away to a standard, somehow managed to get away with using the wrong adapter thread for like 5 years before eventually having to order the right one from Amazon and wait months for it to arrive from China... But honestly I've done a lot of useful stuff with it, especially since I got the Turbo nozzle. Lots of siding and fence cleaning. Pro (diy) tips: use a wide hose, like the larger ones from HF. I get more consistent pressure and flow using a big "farm grade" hose even on the little wimpy washer. Avoid flow restrictions 😁

In the world of competitive cycling, those cordless pressure washers are becoming extremely common for cleaning bikes where excess pressure can cause issues by sneaking underbearing seals or messing up paint on $15k bikes. For that kind of delicate cleaning task they work very well. I'm sure they would be perfect for cleaning cars as well where for the same reason you don't want to mess paint up. My opinion is if you use them for their intended purpose and don't expect to make your driveway look brand new with it you will be satisfied.

I've had my HF Portland clone for a few years now. After I got the deal for the 17ft gutter cleaner harness system I started looking for a pressure washer that could run it. Bought the DeWalt 4400 psi 4gpm with the triplex pump off of marketplace for just under $700 NiB (retails for 879 before tax). Didn't notice that many attachments, including the gutter cleaner setup, suggests a max psi of 4200 🤦. 🤞 it all works out. It does a great job of cleaning off the vinyl rail and balisters on my deck. The HF clone could only clean them in a very thin pattern.

the only thing worth mentioning about the hand held models is that they are a solution looking for a problem. I bought the Ryobi hand held thinking it would be a good solution for spraying out the shed after welding or cutting or etc... My garden hose absolutely outclasses it by ten fold. There is not enough power to justify their existence - mine is currently sitting in the project pile for the next time I need a pump - it's basically worthless.

My 13 yr old 3000 psi Home Depot Rigid brand with Subaru engine and cat pump finally gave out. Took it to a high end agricultural mower dealer who rebuilt the carb several years ago. Oil leak…estimate $450 minimum labor plus parts, IF they could get parts, because Subaru went out of business. They were very honest about the situation and did not try to sell me their brand. They recommended I scrap it. The mechanic said he personally owns and highly recommends a Simpson with Honda engine. He didn’t say which model. I found a Simpson/Honda combo Model PS61044, 3400 psi 2.3 gpm for $599. Don’t know which brand pump or whether direct drive or belt. Also found a Craftsman/Honda 3300 psi with a cat pump for $498. Many many years ago I owned an inexpensive Craftsman, but I know nothing about Craftsmen pressure washers now. I don’t need a high end Simpson Pro Line $1600+ washer, but need some help deciding between these two machines. I will mainly use the pressure washer to clean my concrete driveway a couple times per year using a surface cleaner. Any suggestions or helpful comments would be greatly appreciated.

I have several. Favorites are the Simpson 4000psi/4gpm with a variable pump and the lifan 2100gpm/2gpm with the carry handle. Never had a problem with either. Bought the lifan at Home Depot for 299. And the Simpson from Lowe’s for 899. Both in 2015. Now I see they are both considerably more expensive.

Good video, happy to see some different products and hear you talk about them. I really wasn't pushing any other brands (especially Westinghouse), just stating that it's my OPINION that there are better, just as high rated options out there for the price than HF, and not just in the pressure washer realm. As far as HF 90 day return, I get it, and if you live close it's great, but for me I'm in eastern Montana, and it's a 6 hour round trip to the closest HF, Home Depot, Lowe's, ect, so sometimes the service center option can be best, or just getting parts sent for me to fix. And I wasn't trying to say anything negative about your reviews, I think you are very honest, but it's like you were waiting and setting up for the pounce on how NONE of the other brands compare, and at that point I'm pretty sure you would say the same thing to someone about being biased. My apologies if I was out of line, but it was a healthy discussion and gave you a talking point! Thumbs up!

I have owned an EXCELL 3200 with a 4 gpm Comet pump, still running after 23 years. Honda is getting out of the small gas engine market, I want to get a Honda motor while possible. I have reviewed the comet, and it’s still good but hard to find in a package. Cat would be good. AAA is not an option for due to personal experience, and awful reviews quite frankly. As a professional pressure washer. All pressure washers are rated by cleaning units. PSI X GPM = cleaning units. And in our industry the higher gallons per minute is generally better for cutting down time for cleaning. Which is most of the reasons why you see us minimum of 4 GPM and all the way up to 10 GPM.

    • @Curtis.Carpenter
      @Curtis.Carpenter ปีที่แล้ว +3

exactly. and most homes in my town for example cannot handle spit out more than 4gpm, running a pressure washer thats rated any higher than 4gpm and you'd burn out your pump on your pressure washer, and possibly even damage some fittings on the property. so since the max we can handle around here is 4-4.25gpm and thats almost borderline.. i run a 3.5gpm/4000psi simpson/Honda engine unit. works great. was $1600 new , came with great quality 50ft hose and all quick release tips and even a ball socket valve for switching between surface cleaner and wand easily.

When I started as a detailer I didn't want to fork up the cash for a nice pressure washer system/ setup so I opted for a cordless alternative and for almost 2 years I ran my cordless pressure washer through the ringer and boy that tool made me so much $ I eventually sold it and now I'm fully equipped but for how compact and convenient it was it definitely did the job as a start up tool.
My tool of choice was the Sun Joe 40 V portable pressure washer.

  • @electroluxlad

As a professional plumber and a pressure washer fanatic if you’re buying a pressure washer over 3000 psi make sure it has a water discharge for the pump if you don’t at 4000 P you’ll kill that pump when you turn it off because the water is not flowing through the unit it’s bad for it and it cooks the pistons and the bushings and all that stuff inside of the head of the unit. Make sure you do research about this because I did a lot of frustrating things with pressure washers that burned up pumps and it’s very expensive when they blow up especially when you’re spending over $2000 on something

I will never again buy a Ryobi pressure washer. The one I bought had an idler feature on the Honda engine that malfunctioned. It caused the pressure to fluctuate and even caused the engine to high rev several times. It was the worst $450 I've ever spent on one. The funny thing is that I left it in the driveway one day and someone stole it. I hope they enjoy their headache that's if it didn't blow up and kill them in the process.

I have a gas 2800 psi with Honda GCV engine thinking it would last but each year it has gotten more difficult to start. Like to get something comparable in performance in electric without breaking the bank. Buy a Honda engine they said…easy to start they said…it will last they said. That was true for 1 year.

As someone that has dealt with pressure washers for a number of years on the industrial side, the homeowner does not need to go above 2000. As you noted when you go from 0 to a different degree the pressure now drops. The best pressure pump is made by CAT(not associated with the engine company). They are repairable but of course you you will pay more for them.

Thank you for the informative video. I’m not sure whether to get a gas powered pressure washer at the 2800 PSI level or the 3200 PSI level. My needs range from cleaning patio furniture, washing my wife’s SUV, washing my pickup, cleaning my driveway and side walk, washing my fence (prep for staining it), and washing the exterior of my house. The latter two jobs are once a year or once every two years jobs. So, I don’t need POWER all the time, but only occasionally. What are your thoughts based on your review? Appreciate your advice because I’ve never pressure washed before.
