Does indeed put the Rodecaster back into the equation, but think I'll be sticking with my current setup of a Streamer X as the interface but a Stream Deck+ (and Wave Link) since a) SD+ gives me physical dials to control audio sources, b) Wave Link supports VSTs on any virtual channel, and c) I can select a capture card as an audio source in Wave Link (routed to one of the Aux virtual channels) - much as I'd love to go full Røde, but maybe with a change to my audio routing methods I could fully consider the RC Duo...
Okay Rode has now given us these virtual cables on pc 1. The only thing they could do now if give us some outputting to pc 2. As a streamer I split the load of programs across both pc’s meaning my pc 2 will have discord, game, and sometimes music running on it. Which doesn’t work the best with the current way Rode wants us to utilize the virtual cables. As always much love and mad respect.
First thank you so much for the video!! I did get it the Rodecaster Duo last year and because of that and the PS5 Audio issues when using the USB 2 i did return. This is for sure a great improvement for us streamers! I would consider buying again only if the PS5 audio was fix or compatible using USB C from PS5 to rodecaster duo, because on Rode website still saying this about compabitly with consoles: " At this point in time, the RØDECaster Pro II and RØDECaster Duo devices do not work with gaming consoles via USB connections, due to USB audio limitations."
I can't wait for the mac setup - for my podcasting I am always adding in different audio sources and I need youtube, VLC and even triggering audio from my stream deck - this makes me love my 2 RCP2's even more! Previously I used a 2nd pc along with the mac
I use Groundcontrol Caster with a touchscreen. You can control it with a midi controller if you want. I does the same + VST. You save money to buy an audio interface that sounds much better than this overhyped RGB blinking box.
Holy crap man, I just tested mine last week, both are sleeping on my shelf and my GOXLR is on the verge of dying. I'll have to open it and change a fader and you just appeared on my YThome with this incredible news, thanks! It could transform the duo and the Pro2 in the more professional streaming device for home streamers, but since I also do podcast, Rode will have to adress their ASIO drivers problems, because it's a pain in the butt to work with it on Reaper. Thanks again for the video man, you made my day!
@@DarkCornerStudios Reaper didn't see them when I checked a week ago, it was a blank slide page. A very valid point about my fellow mac fans crying for this to come to mac when it's a platform maybe three people are streaming for games. Well played sir.
Love the video and the info! One thing I would change for future videos is that at 3:43, when you're showing you searching for the Rode Beta Program, you should zoom in or make the UI larger so your video isn't 90% white space. Simplest way is to just hold Control and scroll up. Record what you need to, then you can revert back with Control and scroll down. It's not a huge thing on PC, but someone using their phone will never be able to see what is on your screen as the site is like 4 pixels wide. 😆
I am sure he appreciated the tip, but I don't think it was necessary to zoom in. His words explained everything we needed to do (which were pretty basic, search and fill out a form) and I thought the visual was just to keep things visually moving. Or even better yet, he said their was a link in the description which takes you right to an online form. I found his video super easy to follow. Not so much with the RODE official video.
I dropped my GOXLR for the Rodecaster pro 2 and these feature have not only freed up space but also aloud me to uninstall voicemeter as my alternat faders. loving this beta so far vary little hiccups knock on wood
I've had a play around with the new virtual cables, and as cool as it is, there is a huge limiting factor still present when using OBS. Since OBS will see the 4 virtual cables as 1 multimedia channel. This will limit you If your goal is to have each audio source recorded onto individual tracks for post balancing or removal of any audio (music, discord, etc) during editing, to do this you will need to stick to the old method of capturing audio over the 3 physical channels. I may have missed something in either OBS or the setup that allows OBS to see the 4 virtual cables, But from my testing it doesn't seem like there is a way. Would love for someone to prove me wrong.
I’m still using a GoXLR mini for the fingertip control of faders + virtual channels. When the firmware gets out of beta I’ll probably get a Duo, yes the lack of channels was holding me back.
I'm very happy with my Audient id14, honestly. I don't really see the fuss about processing on device, there's so much more flexibility routing things through OBS. All I really want are virtual channels, which this update does add, but I already have 2 sets with the Audient. Ideally with no latency, which again I have but Wave Link, for example, does not.
Glad Rode updated but the latest roland bridgecast 3 and the fifine sc3 are my mixers of choice because it works on console which is what alot of gamers play and create content from.
This just made my night. As you may have seen in your discord I had some serious questions for my possible pending purchase of the rodecaster duo, this just sealed the deal. Bye bye Elgato Wave Link, hello Road Central!
@@DarkCornerStudios Hey if I can help out by spending an extra $50 on a product I was going to be buying anyways, I will. You have a great channel here and it tickles my brain in a good way diving into your videos.

I have been pulling my hair out trying to get all my audio split up in OBS. To say the least, it has been a nightmare. This update is huge for with using 2 PCs!
I can recommend looking up and using something called nested scenes in OBS. Might help with some of that headache, at least far as keeping track of everything goes.
@@thephotoelite It' more an issue of getting the audio from both PCs and being able to split the audio. There isn't enough ins and outs for audio to separate everything i need to split. This update fixes this.

@@DarkCornerStudios to avoid burn in, also sitting on my desk right infront of me can be a distraction. Would just be a nice feature. Kinda like how in your car you can turn off the display. Good for night driving
@@DarkCornerStudiosNot just game streamers, us art streamers are delighted too because one of the easiest and most reliable ways to separate your audio is virtual channels. You can do it on OBS using the application audio capture but that has been in beta since OBS 28 and we're due for 31 soon and it still bugs out on a regular basis. So virtual channels like this is super powerful for that and let's Twitch streamers in particular separate out their music from their VODs easier.
Not particularly. Depends on if you need virtual channels or actually more than what's already there. For the Duo, you have four faders which can be assigned to any input. Two XLR/combo jacks, a bluetooth channel, soundpads, and three different USB channels. Where it might come into play is if you have programs that can use virtual channels or have a program that can create them (on the Mac, RA's Loopback is a good example). I have four channels I record for my podcast, one XLR Mac channel (F1), Output from Streamyard (F2), RA Ferrago sound board app (F3), Soundpads (F4). I can create more channels through Multitrack, but don't currently need them
6 stereo outputs is great, best in class even. But IMO the inputs are too sparse on USB 1, as in the inputs you see in Windows or macOS. You're always going to dedicate one to your mic isolated, for chatting apps, so that leaves you with single configurable input. I'd like to be able to isolate the audio from USB 1 on an input, as well as Bluetooth. But with only one input you have to go with bringing USB 1 (game pc), or doing a "stream mix" which is less than ideal for OBS with multi-channel outputs.
