It's always great seeing Khary Payton aka Cyborg/Ezekiel and the slasher guy who looks like Nathan Baesel/Leslie Vernon in early projects. Especially 2000's horror.

I just realized, Hellworld is the first Hellraiser movie to have an actual friend group that isn't villainous (Chelsea, Mike, Allison, Derrick, and Jake). At a total of 5 friends (plus Adam, opening kill, if you count) this is the most amount of good people that liked each other up to this point in the series.
So yeah, that's another depressing fact about Hellraiser lol

Cody finally got to the Halloween: Resurrection version of Hellraiser. This one is very frustrating, I used to enjoy it mildly growing up but my latest watch I found it had almost no substance. This is bottom 3 for me of the franchise.
No substance describes every hellraiser except the first one lmao

@@dabearslive9605 Yeah, the first 2 are the only really good ones for me. 3 was enjoyable as well, but it was much more of a slasher, and then it kind of went downhill after that with some ok movies here and there, and a lot of garbage. including this one in my opinion.
The main problem with being a horror movie fan is you end up watching so many bad movies and their sequels

I loved this movie and it is my favorite of all the Hellraiser movies. Sure it was never meant to be a Hellraiser movie and it does not really have anything to do with the first 4 movies other than the meta part of it but just like you said it was fun! Lance Henriksen who is great as the bad guy then Pinhead got him in the end so it was satisfying.
Honestly, I feel like if Final Destination and Hellraiser combined it would make for a pretty cool movie, like the visions are from the Lament configuration, escape death, then Pinhead on the hunt, that sort of thing idk
I know everyone likes to hate on the whole cinematic universe thing, but I really think there’s potential for some awesome lore there between Hellraiser, Final Destination, Candyman, Evil Dead and Nightmare on Elm Street (and probably others). It wouldn’t take much of a stretch to connect all of these in a really cool way
No that's so awesome! I've been trying to write up my own universe with the classic slasher villains/monsters. It's tricky trying to find similarities in the lore though but I'm working on it. Ex: hell would be the world of Hellraiser but at the same time would the deadites from evil dead be from there too? It's all very tricky but I love your final destination/hell raiser idea it's dope!
I had one where Chucky and Hellraiser crossover where Chucky is trying to become human again so he uses the lament configuration to build himself back up like Frank from the original. He escapes hell but the cenobites are on him. So when he comes back he must kill people in order to get his flesh back, probably with some help from Tiffany. All the while trying to dodge and fight the cenobites.

I remember Hellworld being one of the first films in the franchise I saw and really enjoyed it.

Been watching few of your videos over the past couple of days. Started with finding what others thought of new Rob Zombie Munsters to this. Never saw Revelations and Judgement but glad to have watched your review on it. Huge time saver. I should say I've been Hellraiser fan in the past and have bought many of the movies on DVD. This one Hellworld is one of my faves due that I don't take it to seriously and just have fun with it due that its Lance Henricksen and now I know the other actors in it (been a while since I watched it)
I still hold that young Henry Cavill is the only live action Little Mermaid’s Prince Eric. Cavill in The Count of Monte Cristo would have been perfect.

I remember waking up in the middle of the night back in 2011, I turned the tv on and IFC had this movie playing and at first I was like “yo I’m creeped out. What the fuck is this?” Come to find out it was this movie. 👍🏼

Outside the first Two, this is the only other one I've seen. I actually enjoy this one myself too, it's not a great movie, but it's a better sequel than most in this franchise. And that ending song, Bosshouse: Look Who's Standing Tall. Such an awesome song.

I actually liked some of the soundtrack in this movie. They had some Celldweller and some other decent stuff in there. But as you pointed out, some of it was "generic rock" crapola as well.
Oh and the last scene was an Easter egg for the pit and the pendulum which is a brilliant lance movie

Hellworld is okay and it does have a Halloween Resurrection feel to some degree but at least it was a little interesting compared to the last few in the series. I still think you cant have Hellraiser without Doug Bradley. I haven't seen the two without him.

I have a good time watching this movie. I have just come to expect that everyone hates these movies except the first one or two movies. I'm here mostly for the character of Pinhead. I was looking forward to the new Hellraiser but after reading about it. I think it's going to be bad. Without doug bradley and his character of Pinhead I don't have any interest.

The songs were actually by industrial metal artist Celldweller who btw also did the music for the Malignant opening titles.

Man I was surprised that you felt the same as I did with this one...instead of cop drama depressive Pinhead movies that felt like david Fincher directed them while in a coma (fincher is great by the way) his one was surprisingly decent...mostly because I was pretty drunk when I watched this about 2 years ago at 3am.
I totally agree about the late 90s...early 2000s type feel. This is the pinhead version of Bride of Chucky or Freddy Vs Jason to me.
It's a fun one. Not great. But the kinda dumb good shit you can turn on for background noise at a Halloween party.
I've actually been craving to go back and watch this one with more sober eyes... this one...along with the first 4 are worth revisiting. However..... Hellraiser Judgement was actually NOT that bad....good luck with that one.

I like most of the Hellraiser films, my least favorites are Hellseeker and Hellworld. What I disliked most about Hellworld was the meta aspect, made it feel more like a parody than a proper entry.
This is a guilty pleasure for me.
*Eighth film in the series. But considering how these movies aren’t numbered and these VOD movies seem so monotonous, that’s reasonable.

If the movie wasn´t attached to Hellraiser it would have been "fine". And I write "fine" because they messed it up with the whole thing never happened. If they hadn´t done that and it wasn´t tied to Hellraiser it would have been a fine horror movie.
However, still can´t get behind some of Cody´s thoughts. When he says that the series is dark and drepressing and that´s somehow bad. Yes. It is. And that´s how it should be.
Imagine if they did the opposite with the Child Play series. That Chucky isn´t supposed to be funny. That he´d kill in the most gruesome ways. That he was into torture porn. You wouldn´t say it was a Child´s Play/Chucky movie. So, the same way.
Hellraiser is meant to be something in the lines of Silent Hill.
I like this movie. I do not believe it is a GOOD movie. But I like it. I was about the right age...I graduated college in 2002, I was the same age group as the actors here of getting into computers for things beyond word processing, so I think that has something to do with my love of it. I think it could easily have been adjusted more to "fit" in the lore better. Have the game be designed by a La Marchand descendant or maybe just a box lover like Channard-- designed a game to keep feeding people to hell. Everyone who wins the game dies somehow, but it's also kind of hard to win (it takes a lot of dedication and time...DESIRE), so it's not a large amount of people dying. The boy who kills himself at the beginning, have him be someone who "wins" the game which of course means the cenobites come for him. Then Lance's character does his bit, bringing the friends together for revenge, drugging them to believe they opened the box and brought the cenobites down on them. And then the real game creator does something to bring the cenobites to Lance's character.

This one is slightly........ Oh so very slightly better than Deader. That's the only compliment I can give it. Just by changing the tired formula and having decent gore again and cool villain I wanted to give this a 5/10. But the more I think about the ending and all the tired fake outs. I'm so annoyed I give this 4/10 like Deader. Hellseeker Deader and Hellworld are the bottom 3 so far. Next is Revalations. Fingers crossed it's actually decent

This is a easy watch, Pinhead comes across as more a slasher killer here, Still were else are you going see Bishop from Aliens, Superman feature in a Hellraiser movie.

I firmly disagree that "there's not much left to do with Hellraiser". They barely scratched the surface before descending to direct to video shit. Hellraiser 1 was basically a family drama about how desire for pain and pleasure destroys a family, with the Lament Configuration being kind of a metaphor for drugs. There's so many ways you can do that, so many new interesting Cenobites you can introduce, plus more of the actual hellish environment.
This was an embarrassment, and a total waste of Cavill, Bradley and Henriksen's time
I mean with new cenobites and all that yes, but just Pinhead...
So I'm assuming that if I wanted to watch lets say 3 and this one...I wouldn't have to watch the others for it to matter because there truly isn't connective tissue other than the Cenobites? I do love my slasher type movies lol
The only good thing about this movie was Katheryn Winnick In tight leather pants and she looked so sexy a few years later she would be Rejected from Spartacus and Game Of Thrones but would become worldwide sensation on Vikings for 6 seasons and 71 episodes.
Out of all the ones that weren’t 1-4 I really did enjoy this one. Judgement was just to weird.
Revelations is the first sequel that was 100% written as a Hellraiser and I think it gets a little too much hate because its closer to Hellraiser than we've gotten since Space. Its not as fun as Hellworld though, which is my third favorite after the first two.
Its mostly cheap, written out of necessity to keep the rights not because anybody wanted to write it and took things from the first one they figured made it Hellraiser when those things didn't. And it all shows in the final product
I only need to watch bloodlines, revelations and judgment seen all the others don't remember any apart from the first 3 and inferno.

If I am watching Hellraiser movies I am watching 1, 2,3 and World. MAYBE Hellseeker if I really wanna see some Pinhead.
This felt good for me because it changed the scenery and changed the detective shit and all of that, as vague as the Hellworld game is, it's fun enough.
The negative for me is the Pinhead appearance because it felt so boring man.

The whole plot of this was stupid. A guy becomes obsessed with the Hellworld game then later kills himself, his dad blames the people who introduced him to the game so lures them to the party and drugs them and buries them alive causing them to see Pinhead hallucinations then the real Pinhead pops up and kills the dad at the end.

This movie is bad, but after the three movies before it, I was so numbed this didn't really effect me much. I also don't think there's meant to be any explanation of where the game came from, I think the movie is saying at first that the game is just based on the movies... which makes no sense, but eh.

My thing is that if I want to watch something from a franchise, I want it to actually have been from the franchise. MOST of the Hellraiser movies have fuckall to do with the franchise and had Pinhead thrown in as a cash grab attempt to get the fanbase to watch
I looked it up, and there IS gonna be a remake. Clive Barker announced that he's producing the film, and it was recently announced that not only is it gonna be released exclusively on Hulu, but Pinhead is now female. My reaction to Pinhead being gender swapped? WHAT. THE. HELL!?!?!? Oh, and there's gonna be a TV series on HBO. Plus, Bloodline was the last film to follow a chronological timeline, as the rest of these films most definitely don't follow the events of their predecessors. Revelations is no different in that regard. So you're right. The direct-to-video sequels are NOT Hellraiser films. Deader, though, I think is sort of a Hellraiser film. I mean, the leader of the cult is another descendant of the Lemerchand bloodline, and they HAVE been cursed because of the box. Dr. Paul Merchant from part 4 is literally the only one who succeeded where his ancestors have failed. Of course, the original version of that film was longer than what we got.
Pinhead was coded as female in The Hellbound Heart - the basis for Hellraiser. It's not as far fetched as you think.

You've been doing great on your recent videos, but one thing I've noticed from your videos is that you will mention something as a critique or praise, and then never show the audience what you're talking about. If you're going to discuss the music, putting even a sample of it playing while talking over it wouldve been helpful. I've said this before, but when reviewing the film through a video medium, you can show us what you're talking about--it actually streghtens your point more when theres something for proof. Maybe its because you're trying to keep your movie reviews to like 9-11 minute averages, but adding in that proof goes a long way, even if it's a bit of extra work. And I'm sure no one would mind longer videos. I really enjoyed your Dexter season reviews, especially the later ones since I was shocked they were close to half an hour.
Other than that, you've greatly improved lately and it shows, and you should keep up the good content
It comes down to two factors:
1) What video clips are a available online to use
2) What clips I can use with a short length as to not get copyright claimed.
I used to be alot more heavy on the movie clips but unfortunately you're asking for issues the more you use.
