Fun fact, I once looked up the Hellraiser tag on AO3 and I was startled to see more than one fic featuring Henry Cavill's character from this movie, because I didn't think there were enough fanfic writers who even knew Hellworld existed.
I'm not explaining why I was looking up horror movie fandom tags on AO3.

The video store near my house "Mike & Ted's Excellent Video Adventures" went out of business my senior year of high school. They sold their stock for like 25 cents a piece. I got so many obscure horror movies because everyone else went for the regular movies, games, and new stuff. Anyway, I got the entire Hellraiser franchise for 2 dollars
Honestly for 95% of them (minus the two or three good ones) that’s more than I’d still pay for them. Great deal honestly.
James and Chelsea are probably the best TH-camrs that talk about bad movies, because they do try to be positive no matter what, which is always nice in the toxic cesspool that is this platform.

Cinemasins *began* as a non-serious series. Then over time, they began writing in more and more or their actual feelings alongside the jokes. You can watch their independent reviews and see alot of the same exact points made in CS videos. After awhile, the actual criticism and the joke criticisms start to blend together and become unrecognizable.
You're right, Chelsea. This IS what we like.
Chelsea has a point, a hellraiser based puzzle game where your like navigating the cenobite world and maz to escape through a bunch of really grotesque puzzles and stuff would be a very good game (if done right)
Enter modern games publishers: "sounds perfect for a live service model!"
It could be cool if there were multiple "moral paths" too, like whether you embrace the sadism like Uncle Frank and become a cenobite, or try to escape and destroy the lament configuration.

I think his standards are how many zeros are on the check they hand him. He dropped out after this because he said they offered him “less than the cost of a nice refrigerator” for Revelations.

There’s a scene in a nightclub, and then at some point Blade leaves the dance floor and is walking up a flight of stairs, and there’s an extra at the bottom of the stairs who’s dancing in a manner I can only describe as “driving an invisible car (including gear changes)”, and it just tickles the hell out of me, especially knowing there’s probably no music playing. @@jesspeaceful I don't know. This sounds worse than any of Cavill's DCEU movies, and Argylle looked bad, but not anywhere near as bad as JW's Justice League (I haven't seen the Snyder Cut).
Based on the little I have heard about him as a person, I feel like he would be a good sport about it.

Hellworld holds a special place in my heart like Stay Alive and Black Christmas (2006) because it was always randomly on one of the big premium networks and became a background/comfort movie. It feels like trying to go to sleep knowing I have school tomorrow after an afternoon of playing Gamecube. It feels homey.

I have had so many horror movie dudebros call me a fake horror fan because I have a soft spot for both Stay Alive and Black Christmas (2006) because as a teenager, one of the premium channels my household had had those movies for free on demand and I watched them over and over to feed my horror movie needs.

Yeah it's short and sweet, I will say the movie is better I loved that the movie changed Kirsty to be Larry/Rory Daughter instead of just a friend who hates Julia and wants to bang him, but I still really love The Hellbound Heart
Poor Things and Hellraiser: Hellworld is probably the best double feature anyone could ask for.
I love when you can tell James and Chelsea has a good time with a bad movie. So much fun to watch

“The Hellbound Heart” is such a quick and fun read. It’s also remarkable how close the original film sticks to it. It’s also a great gateway drug into Clive Barker’s writing style in general. I’ve had a few people over the years ask me where to start with Clive Barker and I always recommend “The Hellbound Heart.” After that, his “Books of Blood” short story collections are amazing, and really show off the extent of his imagination.

A couple years ago my friend and I watched all of the Hellraiser movies to prepare for the 2022 film and it was a miserable experience. Thank you for covering Hellworld because it makes that experience a little more worth it.
So this movie is why Henry Cavill just said he hates sex scenes and thinks they’re overused.
As a Canadian I can confirm it’s de-grass-ee. At least that’s how everyone I know up here pronounces it

Love the hellraiser series, i don't know why but something about inferno I really enjoy, maybe its because the main character is a horrible person, or the ending. Idk, would make my year to see them covered.
I like Inferno, Deader, and Hellseeker out of that era. They're probably closer thematically to Silent Hill than they are to Hellraiser but I can live with that lol.
Do they hold a candle to 1 and 2? Nope. But I'll take the 'crappy' Hellraiser movies (mostly) over almost any other horror franchise's later entries because they sort of all do the off-the-tracks shit eventually. Except Freddy I'll stand by those lol. Nightmare series is pretty consistent.

I had an idea for a Dead Meat video game. A 1 to 2 player Dead Rising style game where you play as James and Chelsea and the people you have to save are all the members of the Dead Meat team, and Josh is your contact on the radio watching the cameras. It could be called Meat of the Dead.

Last year I spent weeks, MONTHS watching all the hellraiser movies. Including revelations and judgment and the new one. What a fucking franchise ☠️
My current partner and I bonded watching all the movies and if ever he wants to diffuse an argument he’ll just say “Hellraiser 7 is a cinematic masterpiece” and I’ll always be stunned into silence
I've long felt like I'm the only person who genuinely likes this movie 🤣 The actual 'Hellworld' video game concept is weakly-presented, but I think the movie tells a strong story that's pretty entertaining and clever. Yes the cenobites act like generic slasher villains, but (until the last scene) that makes a lot of sense in the context of the movie when you find out what's really happening. Lance Henriksen is so good in it too. I've encountered a lot of people baffled by the 'surviving' characters seeing his image at the end, but I've always seen that as establishing that the whole 'saved by the ghost friend' bit didn't really happen and that the 'surviving' characters are merely imagining their escape in a drug-induced haze. It's by far my favorite Hellraiser entry from movies 5-10.
This was one of the most delightful casts you two have done. I giggled so many times and thought this was a great time
I watch the podcast every single time I go to college and on my way back home. Been a big movie guy my whole life and I love horror movies so these podcasts are perfect for my drives❤
24:40 I always refer to it as 'LaMarchand's Box'. From my understanding of words, 'Lament configuration' is just a setting that it has. When you put the box into that configuration, it opens the door.
It's also a hella cool name.

I made it my goal to watch every hellraiser movie, and by the time I got to this one, my brain was so mush, haha. I spent most of my time yelling WTF at the TV, lol. So excited you guys are covering this

I really don’t get the whole people complaining about Pinhead being out of character in part 3 though. It’s established in the storyline that he’s been split into 2 separate entities : 1 good 1 bad , and that he no longer has to abide by the cenobite code, so it makes sense that he would be more evil and a little different than the previous iteration of the character.

The game he qas trying to figure out though was likely Ultima Online. That was the big MMO before even Everquest. Runescape was 2001 while Everquest was 2000 so only game I can think of that was popular before Everquest is Ultima Online which came out in 1997.

i just wanted to put it out there, that almost 2 years ago i met a man called Miroslav Lakobrija at a Grossmann event and he and his coworker Andrijana let me stay woth them bc i didn't have any place to sleep. I then found out he worked on special fx for A serbian film and then he showed me pictures of him creating some practical fx for the new hellraiser movie😱 I literally couldn't believe it 😭 And i was so mac bc no one i knew thought this was cool so i hope someone reads this and understands how cool this experience was🥹 Also he was very nice💕

The stupid stuff is my favorite. I think Cry/Wolf was my first episode of the podcast after subscribing and still one of my favorites. I went and watched the movie just to get the most out of it and it was so funny to hear you guys talk about it. So please keep reviewing bad, ridiculous, or stupid horror movies. They make for some awesome listening.

this is my favourite hellraiser sequel. theres something about horror from the early 2000s that are generally considered terrible that i love so much. i never really thought you guys would cover this so this is very special to me
i have to say, the ending twist was actually interesting to me and the idea of being so scared you just die is terrifying in itself

Dude Slasher is such a good horror anthology, even the seasons that are buckwild nonsense never phone it in, and all seasons except 5 have insane kills.

I always saw that first trap in Saw, not as falling apart, but that's just what happened when he "completed" the trap and pushed the paddle past the knives and the barbed wire was just another "test" if he was to try and attack John

I've seen all the Hellraisers except for Judgement. I gave up after the one that came before it. When you guys said the Lamont configuration, I immediately thought of the bad guy from Jackie Chan Adventures and died from the Canadian brother joke 😂
"The website shuts off at midnight" - No joke, this is literally what the official state unemployment claims website for Florida does. They have it "open" from like 6am-8pm and then shut it down for """maintenance""" at all other hours. I did a marathon with my family and we were supposed to watch all of them. I made us stop after the cop hell one. The cop one was actually strenuous to watch.
I would watch a Kill Count of Hellraiser: HellWorld multiple times to keep the numbers up. I have areal guilty pleasure love of this film.

This one was the most tolerable imo alongside Judgement
this one and judgment are the only two straight to dvd ones i’ve seen and i HATED judgement, one of the grossest films i’ve ever seen 😂 so i can’t imagine how bad the others are
Im not sure about scamming you out of your entire online account in an MMO (although that sounds plausible), but there is a lot of trade scamming that takes place. Where after you and them agree on what items to trade, they will subtly try to remove a few without you noticing before confirming the trade.
This movie introduced me to Celldweller. It will forever be beloved by me for that alone. Plus I do actually like the movie.

Honestly Hellraiser isn't as big or important as a lot of the franchises on the kill count, but if Tremors can get 7 kill counts and Critters 5, I feel like Hellraiser's sequels should be covered. It's a much better series than either of those and way more people care about it than those.

Chelsea and James I will listen to every episode of the podcast regardless of the subject. But YES I would love to have more episodes about bad horror movies. Just don't go too hard or you'll ruin the fun
