I think MR H youtuber has a video narrating a fan fiction/theory that had to do with that
Event Horizon was the better Hellraiser film set in space then the actual 4th installment that took place in space.

Even with a modified voice, I'm not sure pinhead works in the movie. The character just looks goofy here. I seriously laughed when I first saw him.

Yes they used a different actor for the voice because the one in make up couldn't do a voice, failing to understand they would let Doug Bradley do the lines and just changed/manipulated his voice in production...which is why he sounds so otherworldly. Its just another reason this film feels so lazy

Maybe that's why some dumbass decides to contact them in the franchise's next entry.

@@dong.corleone2 was definitely a letdown, but I thought Inferno and Hellseeker were okayish, and definitely enjouyed the 2022 one. 3 had some neat kills, but there's more to Hellraiser than the kills. That and making Pinhead a Freddy-like villain just doesn't work for the franchise. He's not good or evil, he's supposed to be like more of a force of nature.
But, they made what they thought would sell, which is basically your typical slasher, and turned Pinhead into a maleavolent monster.
No offense to fans of 3, but it has more in common with bog standard horror slashers than it does Hellraiser as a concept.
I say this as someone who LIKES bog standard slashers, such as NMOES, this is not why I watch Hellraiser films. If I wanted that I'd rewatch the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, amongst other films.
You deserve a medal for enduring this franchise!!
This movie is easily top 5 hellraiser. I don’t get how people hated this so much more than all the other atrocious flicks. 5-7 is literally the same story remade thrice.

Hellraiser Covid-19 and the twist was we all died on outbreak day 1. Finally a happy ending to these movies free from them finally.

I've been going through this franchise and watching your reviews immediately after and I agree, this one gets the most hate but it's the most faithful to the franchise than the 3 or 4 before it. Execution is rough but the gore was great, I was expecting a dumpster fire but it's not the worst the franchise has offered
I 100% agree with you. I'm gonna be honest, the very 1st time I watched it...I kinda liked-ish it🤷♂️ But I definitely agree, it is not a good movie by a looong shot. But out of all this seemingly neverending marasme of unspired insipid sequels (starting after bloodline of course) this one at least feels like a somewhat properish Hellraiser, with a rather haunting ending.

I really don't feel sorry for the guy that plays Pinhead because the costume makes him look fat, and it's just too fun to laugh at, and can we also talk about that Pinhead looks like he is taking a big dump on the thumbnail
One thing I can appreciate about this one’s ow it goes back to formula concept with someone being taken by pinhead, comes back and needs people to grow back to a “normal” person. I also like the twist of the blonde’s son actually being the friend wearing the son’s skin and the gore like he said. But that’s about it. I really didn’t like how the dad shot the guy before pinhead took him. It felt really dumb and made me say “who the hell would do that? Pinhead was going to solve your problem and you had to get involved.” I didn’t like the mini-me pinhead. To me it makes no sense that they made another pinhead cenobite, and how it seemed like pinhead made mini-me himself with pinhead putting pins in his head. Also I’m pretty sure all the cenobites except mini-me has been in past films. It felt like a Lifetime remake of Hellraiser.
Yeah and his logic of "if anyones gonna kill you its gonna be me" crap makes no sense, he's about to be dragged into hell by Pinhead and the Cenobites...for a long sentence of pain and suffering...I think you're letting him get off pretty easy shooting him before they can take him and ultimately envoking The Cenobites wrath 😂 soooooo not worth it!

Actually the budget was only $100,000. Still I think a better director would’ve made better creative moves to at least make it tolerable.

Great review, Cody. This was much in tone with what Hellraiser is supposed to be obviously since it was not a spec script forcefully turned into a sequel and for that it was more enjoyable than parts 7 and 8. The only thing other thing I would point out is that this is really a remake/reboot, not a sequel.

I REALLY didn't like this one when I first saw it. And I'm not saying I like it now. But when you think about all the other Hellraiser sequels, this one is at least a Hellraiser movie. Not another movie that was re-worked to fit in a puzzle box. And I think the idea of the plot is good. But the acting is so, so bad and the poor guy who was cast as Pinhead just isn't working. Even if they can't get Doug Bradley, find someone at least who looks imposing and like you said, make some effort into the voice effects. I think with a better budget, that would lead to better actors, and some stronger writing, this one could be good.
I like this movie for what it is.
I actually kinda like how pinhead looks in some scenes and i like the way he says “you opened it,summoned us and we came” line. I also like pseudo pinhead,i mean each piece of skin on his face is from different victim which is messed up. I wish they would have completely changed how pinhead looks in this movie and this is how the actual pinhead would look.

What makes the issue of Pinhead's voice even worse is the fact that it was actually another actor dubbed in. So they were already doing digital work on it to lay the voice over the footage and still didn't bother with any effects.

Worst movie in the franchise, not the concept, but the script acting and everything. I feel exactly the same like you do that this really feels like a Hellraiser movie, the biggest problem is the rushed production. I always thought this movie would be really good if it would have like 12-16 weeks to shoot not 2-3 weeks.
I finally saw this movie today. I didn’t hate it at all. I appreciated that it was more a long the lines of the 2 OG movies.
I never bothered with this one. When people described it as "hundred times worse than Hellworld" the suffering it caused must truly be legendary, even in hell!
Yeah now I remember watching this one drunk as hell on Netflix. I can still recall my final thoughts after it was over. What the fuck! There. It did have some decent things going for it but it really felt like trying to watch TCM next generation.

Now I know why I never bothered watching the whole series past 3 lol
These later films probably make Cody feel like he solved the Lament Configuration and got dragged to hell.
It's not very good, but I got along with it much better once it got past the opening with Niko screaming "TIJUANA!" over and over again. And another thing about the Pinhead actor, he was dubbed over by a voice actor.

Nice to see a good, honest review of this better-than-people-say-but-still-not-very-good movie that isn’t 98% “OMG! Worst movie ev-errrrr” hyperbole.
With everything wrong with this movie, I still rank it 8th out the 10. With how little time they had to get, literally everything in this film done, I'm legit super impressed with how well it turned out! MILES better than Judgment and far more "Hellraiser" than Hellworld was.
Almost any sequel called Revelations actually lacks any revelations.
This one had a pretty good twist reveal, though. Does that count?

That’s a pretty good review cody by the way that’s awesome that you mentioned my comment from the hellraiser 3 review because yes I am one of those people that really hate this movie this is one of if not my least favourite horror movie of all time and it’s one of my least favourite movies of all time the only thing that’s fine about this movie is the story works for a hellraiser movie but that’s it. I will say it like you said about my comment this movie should be wiped from the face of this earth. Also that made my day a bit better I had a family member get sent to the hospital so this helps.

Great review Cody. Always enjoy the content. This film is just embarrassing. Absolutely 0 effort put into this. Its the biggest spitball to the face of fans. Only made just to keep the right, I know whats new. The 1 positive I have is that the Lament Configuration effects look great. Alot better than every other box effects. The gore is great too. And let's talk about Pinheads first spoken line in the film. What a lame introduction. Kid: " just take it and leave"

Btw, I'm shocked we haven't seen a "F this movie" yet. That's not a bad thing. As you've matured as a reviewer it's become obvious (to me anyway) that your critiques have much more sophistication. It work's perfectly well with your refusal to mindlessly "join the herd". We've seen it many times in the Halloween franchise and it's been on show here. You're a very valuable member of the cinematic community!
I think the idea of a mini Pinhead or a Pseudo Pinhead I think his name is, was that the actual Pinhead is training him as an apprentice and attaching the skins of their Victims to his face piece by piece. I think the comics explored that there are several reincarnations of Pinhead, the Elliot Spencer version is the current one we know, where people who become Cenobites don the Pinhead Cenobite style of that era and It's like a Jedi teaching the Jedi way to a padawan, in this case it's how to wield chains instead of a lightsaber and the identity is passed down. Or hey maybe Leviathan got lazy. Had to make a Cenobite and didn't have much to work with So copied what wasn't broke.

This movie has a mini-pinhead, that concept alone summarises this movie perfectly.
They actually offered the role to Doug Bradley. I remember an interview with him shortly after this movie was released. He said that they pretty much offered him a sandwich for his work. So he refused.
This movie was directed by Victor Garcia, who before this did Return to House on Haunted Hill and Mirrors 2, so I think his filmography speaks volumes as to his lack of talent (although he did work with Guillermo del Toro a few times as an effects artist).

Hellraiser: Revelations is so terrible that even Clive Barker, the creator of Hellraiser, himself said on Twitter and I quote:
*"Hello, my friends. I want to put on record that the flick out there using the word Hellraiser Is No Fuckin' Child Of Mine! I have Nothing to do with the fuckin' thing. If they claim it's from the mind of Clive Barker, it's a lie. It's not even from my butt-hole."*
the production budget was 100k, it shows.
Watch it for the gore not the lore there ya go. That's what I would recommend for revelations.

This was the first hellraiser I got on bluray 🤦♂️ I knew nothing about it and found it for $3 and was soo pissed off at the miniature blue pinhead
We had a blast with this one. Simply because the brother character looks like John Heder, so we kept doing napoleon dynamite quotes every time he was on screen 🤣🤣

It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It’s a so bad it’s good fan film. Absolute worst is Hellraiser Hellworld. Revelations had bad cringe acting, hot babes, surprisingly great effects, just felt like an Asylum film.

One of the actors in this film was the main villain in The Scorpion King.
I actually really enjoyed this movie for what it was. I thought it was the best one since 1-4.
