Portable chemo infusion technology a "gamechanger’ for kids" cancer care

For 14 years, nurse Nicole Robinson dedicated herself to guiding families through life’s most challenging moments, until her own world was shaken when her 5-year-old was brought into the emergency department with what was initially thought to be appendicitis.
“I thought, you know, having worked in the area for as long as I have, that somehow that made me immune to the diagnosis," she said. "Life-changing words to hear and let me know that they had found leukemia in his blood."
But a groundbreaking breakthrough in pediatric cancer treatment transformed Hendrix’s care.
With the introduction of Blinatumamap, a targeted immunotherapy that, when paired with traditional chemotherapy, boosted survival rates to an astonishing 97 per cent.
As Global's Sarah Offin reports, Hendrix’s treatment shifted from prolonged hospital stays to the freedom of a portable pump that allows him to enjoy life outside hospital walls.
