  • Hey, i’m Caris welcome to my TH-cam channel where I talk about all things tinnitus! 👂🏻
    In this video, I talk about what tinnitus habituation is, what it feels like to be at that point and most importantly, how to get there.
    Tinnitus isn't the end of a happy life and i'm here to prove it. I used to blame everything on my tinnitus and since accepting it, my life has changed.
    Tinnitus has been a companion of mine for as long as I can remember. I'm now 22 years old and after many rough years with tinnitus, I have now began to live my life happily. My tinnitus hasn't gone away, but my negative response to it has.
    When I was struggling to cope, the search to find reliable information was almost impossible. I have made this channel in hope to reach you at a point in your journey where you need it most.
    Here i'll share all of my mistakes, management techniques and most importantly, things I wish I knew about tinnitus.
    Thanks for being here!☺️

    Hi Caris, thank you so much for making this video! Do you find that there are times now that you don’t even notice the tinnitus?

      Hey, it’s always a pleasure! To answer your question - Yes, all the time! It’s crazy becuase a lot of the time I’m actually talking about my tinnitus, I don’t even tune into my own. I’d say I tune into my tinnitus for only 1% of the day whereas in my worst day it was almost 100%

    I am experiencing unilateral tinnitus (left ear) for 13 days now. My doctor thinks this is because of sinus congestion and have prescribed me some medications . I hope it is sinuses only.

      You say you have tinnitus all your life, you have childhood memories? On what point of your life starts to bother you? Is different a person who have T all his life to something that he acquired it at one point in his life. Greeting and i hope you okay

      Hello, good question! The more aware I became the more I perceived my tinnitus as a threat - hence it seem I louder.
      I have memories of when I was around 7 years old with scary tinnitus spikes and when I complained to my family, they didn’t know what I was talking about - nor did I!
      It wasn’t until I started asking people if it was normal or not that I realised it wasn’t. The more I felt like I was the odd one out, the louder!

    How did you habituate?

    • @LetsTalkTinnitus
      @LetsTalkTinnitus  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      A combination of CBT, sorting out my sleep routine, stress management, hearing protection and most importantly my social media! Connecting with others has helped me understand my feelings are normal no matter who you are, or what your circumstances - you can habituate😊

    Hi Caris, I started to develpoe tinnitus about 5 weeks ago after an ear infection. Been told its caused by some hearing loos in my right ear The waiting list for the NHS audiology dept at my local hospital is 40 weeks!!. I have been referred to a private clinic for the test next week. If i need a hearing aid - with your experience will it hopefully alleviate the problem I am having

      Hey!☺️ I'm sorry to hear about your recent struggles with tinnitus following a ear infection. Getting a comprehensive evaluation of your hearing is crucial, and I hope your upcoming appointment provides valuable insights.
      Regarding your question about hearing aids, they can be beneficial for some people with tinnitus especially if there's associated hearing loss. However, the effectiveness varies, so it's essential to work closely with an audiologist.

    Hi Caris I got tinnitus from microsuction last June. I am really struggling with it has i hear it constantly above everything. I even have to have subtitles on the tv sometimes. I went for a hearing test and i still have normal hearing but its like being deaf sometimes. Have you ever found out why people without hearing loss get tinnitus?, is it still ear damage?. I am worried mine will get as loud as yours and not be able to hear people talking or just hear nothing but tinnitus. Mine was a very traumatic event and the tinnitus just takes me back to that horrible day and they assured me it was safe. I cant get past 'that horrible machine has damaged my lovely healthy ears'. I have health issues but did have good ears. I am bedridden a lot of the time with it, how long was you bedridden?. I have had to give up work as i travel with my job and some part of it gives me a spike. My hobby was seeing bands so i have had to stop that so it has taken over my whole life 😢. I went from silence to loud screeming tinnitus overnight.

      Tinnitus is horrible i know how it feel. but if you love live music and gigs please don't stop going. I was the same I was scared to go to gigs at first, as im the same love live music. But i got some ear plugs that are moulded to my shape of your ears. I Went to a Prodigy gig last November and they worked a treat and i enjoyed the gigs and the Prodigy are very loud. Maybe limit your gigs, but don't stop going all together. My plugs cost me 130 quid so not cheap but for a gig lover it worth every penny.

      @@markwood4057How many decibels does it reduce it by? and did you get a spike or anything after?. I think they are a lot louder than my bands 😊.

    • @markwood4057
      @markwood4057 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @susy841 ear plugs I got reduced 25dbs off. And I didn't suffer any spikes after. As for microsuction the lady who did mine she turned it down so it wasn't so loud for me. So if you get ears cleared next time ask them if they can turn the suction down for you.

      @@markwood4057I would never have it done again its completely ruined my life. They told me it was safe and they never warned me it causes tinnitus. Did it make yours any worse?
