    My Tinnitus began June 3, 2020. I have seen an ENT and 2 Audiologist in los Angeles. It started after lack of sleep for a few days after some crazy anxiety! My Tinnitus is up and down. Im 8hz-9hz in my right ear. when I hold down on my ear I hear a persistent buzz! My hearing test came back fine and they did an ABR it was fine too

Now when I understand the vicious cycles you explained I no longer am afraid or stressed of the tinnitus. I’ve had tinnitus for a while, though it never bothered me in the past. I would only hear it in quiet environments, if I paid attention to it . But last week I had a spike in my left ear and it has not gone away. I also developed a clicking on the left side of my jaw, and my jaw constantly feels worn out. I’m wondering if that’s TMJ causing the tinnitus spike, or just a coincidence. Either way I hope the spike goes away soon, I can handle the regular tinnitus (the way it is in my right ear rn). It was soooo nerve racking the first couple of days. It’s annoying to feel this imbalance in sound, but I’ve stopped panicking over it, and honestly the panic was louder than the spike itself.

    Is it possible to habituate to tinnitus if the tinnitus sound is constantly changing frequency (sometimes within seconds or fraction of seconds)? If it was always a constant frequency, I feel like my brain can more easily ignore the tinnitus. However, I'm concerned that it will be too difficult for the brain to habituate to the change in frequency. Would love to hear your opinion on this.

I’ve had instances where my tinnitus was almost non existent until the point when I try to relax or at night just at the point when I’m about to drift into sleep. I have had raging tinnitus for 5 years. It’s maddening at times. The volume varies but is CONSTANT, 24/7. I fall asleep just fine to a White Sound on my Sharper Image sound machine but I wake up in the wee hours of the morning with that annoying, constant metallic screeching going on in my ears. I found a TH-cam of 10 hours of a “cancelling” sound for tinnitus that I’m going to try tonight. My Dr. won’t help me and I’m desperate. I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks for being there.

    If it takes to up to a year, do you notice it gradually getting better during the year ?

    • @bassthang2277
      @bassthang2277 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      For me, yes. It rescinded further and further into the background, to the point where I wasn't aware of it for 99.9% of the day. And when I did, I wasn't experiencing any anxiety as I did when I first got it. And it didn't take a full year, more like 7-9 months.

      @bernardocantu77 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bassthang2277 how are you doing now? in that year when you were habituating? was it intermettent? could you hear it constantly but getting lower in volume or was it off and on lower in volume when it was on?

    • @bassthang2277
      @bassthang2277 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bernardocantu77 Bernardo. I'm doing fine, thanks. There have been days when the ringing was more noticeable, and days when I just don't hear it much. No, it was never intermittent. It's always there.. There has never been a time when it was off 100%, but some days, pretty damn close to 100%. But I can go through most days when I don't pay attention to it, it just doesn't bother me anymore. I consider that success. My audiologist says my tinnitus reacts to sound, so I use sound therapy.

    Hi, I have a question: Does watching and masturbating to porn (maybe even being addicted) stand in the way of habituating? Or be the cause of tinnitus? Or is it the withdrawal from it that can cause stress?

  • @David-nq4qi
    @David-nq4qi ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the excellent advice, Ben. I will show my gratitude by giving you some excellent advice. Free of charge. For Heaven's sake, stop waving your hands around. The only way I could watch this was by putting the video in a new window and moving it to the bottom of the screen so that I could only see your face and not your constantly waving hands. It is extremely distracting, and it makes no sense. If you wrote an article about this, would you underline every word? Or write the whole thing in capital letters. Keep your hands out of sight until there is a word or phrase that might merit emphasis with a hand gesture.
