Chinese Leather Shoe Patcher : wrapping bobbins with elastic sewing bands 中國補鞋機： 用鬆緊帶包裹梭芯

Loose bobbin thread tails are really a headache for users of the Chinese leather shoe patcher when lots of fully wound bobbins stored in a place. The loose thread ends would mess up with each other. It is difficult to sort them out. By using the elastic sewing bands, I cured my headache.

Thank you for your inspiration comments. You got what I mean - use what you already have on hand. Use materials to the greatest extent not only to save money but also save the world. To realise this, I like to do, repair and refurbish almost everything myself first before throwing them away.

If the shaft that turns the shuttle was hollow you could make a machine that didnt need bobbins and bring the thread up threw the bottom of the arm ?Hmmm Just a thought .

Yes, a good thought. This can be done if there are tools available for me to make the rod and arm hollow!

Won't these bobbins fit in a standard bobbin box? (Slot for each bobbin so they don't unwind like if left in a pile.)

Sure these bobbins can be placed in the bobbin box but the thread tails are still a trouble!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Any information you can share is appreciated....but, I am still having trouble getting the needle to pick up the bobbin thread. I have tried to follow all the directions you have given, I have even made a clear plastic cover so I can see the movement of the bobbin and the needle...it looks like they don't connect. The needle goes down and the bobbin rotates and passes the needle bur they miss each other somehow. Can you help???

1. check the depth of the needle, whether the height is correct.
2. the needle : the round side with the long groove faces away from the flywheel. i.e. left side
3. the tension disc should not be too tight; check the path of the thread: any hindrance that block the needle thread drawing
4. big spool of thread should not be placed on the pin mounted on the machine as this would cause great tension to the needle thread, loop would not be formed for the bobbin thread to grab.
5. the timing of the needle and bobbin case should also be set correct. Refer to my video on this.
